Course Maker: how big is it and when can we expect it?

I agree about the course maker. it was one of the features that I looked forward to. I have a mountain road in the Appalachians that I would love to turn into a track.
I live in southern West Virginia, right in the middle of Appalachia. The GPS feature was MADE for this area. The road to my old high school is practically the Nurburgring with more elevation.

Nope, this is just a video game. I'll just go to YouTube or go to a car show if I want to hear real engine sounds.
:odd:
I'm seriously hoping that was sarcasm
I want course maker as much as everyone else here, but some of these comments are a tad ridiculous guys

Most likely through Jordan as they pretty much set the thing up together.

I'd expect the answers to be in the "news" section.
I'd also expect the answer to be edited into the question here. Hopefully Jordan could make a subforum here for answered questions and also move the answered ones to there.

Wow... this is a surprise for me. Would've never expected the course creator to be more popular than sound and liveries.. Will have to try it and see what the fuss is about when it comes out! Did they allow sharing of tracks in previous GT games?

think that its almost same popularity between track Creator, sound and livery among the players, and dont understand why PD doesnt these in serious...:irked:

Every time I walk out the front door I see the first track I'm going to make. It's kinda like Madrid Mini/Brands Hatch Indy combo. Should be good fun once we get this feature. Here's hoping we get it soon.

Yes, you could save your created track and your friends could DL it and race it. (In GT5). Or, you all could race it at the same time. Miss, miss, miss this feature!

Also, VERY happy to see this gather as many votes as it has.

Kaz answers will probably be like this

Sound update: Coming soon *Laughs*
Course Maker: We're working on it
Zahara: Some time in 2014
Old GT Tracks: What was the question again? *drinks coffee*

You're right, we should just forget this whole asking questions thing. ;)

I think we're expecting the course creator to be rather epic. Even at 10x10 it's still 100 sq. km's and that's more than enough to create hundreds of unique tracks, especially if the scenery and terrain is varied. If they are modeling the area around Ronda it would be a great start for this feature. I've driven from Portugal to Seville and then north to Cazalla de la Sierra and then north to Merida. At the time I remember thinking, "wow these roads would be epic to race on". I was in a Peugot wagon with a 5 speed so I never topped 150 km/h but the roads were epic.

It's not very often you get the opportunity in a racing game to be very creative outside of liveries and since we don't expect liveries until PS4 at the earliest, this is the next best thing.

Think of this: you have a track that is 10 miles long, then ten miles wide. Then, instead of closing the outer loop, you run a lap JUST inside the previous one. You do this until you hit the center, then you build a bridge to connect to the outside to close the loop.

This would be ridiculous, of course. Especially if the whole thing was flat.

But...

We can put a mountain (or a few) in the middle, and go nuts with the contours! Check out the "What would you make with a GPS course maker?" Thread. VERY informative for the leading edge of possibilities:

*Kaz then sets down his coffee, kicks a dozen beetles out of a tree, and flies off to race somewhere. Somewhere not involving work.*

Yeah, this ain't Kickstarter. Course Creator? Income Creator, I think. I call Flim-Flam Man, Vaporware, outright lies, and complete balderdash.

Kaz... Zip credibility on his follow through and communication. I would fire him if he worked for me.

Could you create tracks by adding parts of pre-existing tracks to others (e.g. create a track with some turns from Nurb, some from Monza, some from Le Mans...), and race online with these?

I'm looking forward to that!

If we get it I hope you can make sprint tracks too :D I would spend so much time on track creating!
As in Sprint Cup (NASCAR) ?
I would love to try my hand at the following tracks on a decent GT6 course maker: Bristol, Dover, Darlington, Pocono, Talladega, Watkins Glen. And let's have some right-turns only ovals for a change! lol

Sprint as in point to point, E.g the Wangan racing, rally or touge

Asides from creating our own tracks or track replicas (wich would be EPIC)...I'm getting SERIOUSLY seriously fed up with the same tracks all over and over again.
Even in GT5, with a very limited editor, we could build something original to play on. From day 1.
6 months now. Repeat same tracks ad nauseum...:ill:

I pre-ordered this game as soon as it became available for pre-order expecting features such as the course editor and here it is almost 1 year after pre-order and 7 months into the life of the game and we still don't have it. So please Kaz give us some idea of when this feature will be available.

I wanted a Course Creator that was within... 3 years or more of the competition, and a Livery Editor within...a decade.

Nope. One promised (and paid for), neither one delivered, nor info on progress communicated.

Its amazing that Kaz went from clarify?ing, reasuring and convincing that guy from germany that the course maker is indeed 100x100, Then 50x50, Then 10x10 to still not even being in the game 6 months after release, And PD defenders still claim no promises were broken, Ok no promises were broken ey, What about missleading consumers.

Now i wonder if they have the audacity to leave it out and come up with a lame excuse, Or if they just add gt5's course maker for whatever reason, How would you guys feel about that?

How would I feel ? Cheated and misled. Like a gift where someone gives you a busted matchbox car instead of a real one. And you paid for it.

While it would be better than what we have now which is nothing - The GT five course creator was really pretty sorry as well, Even when it launched.

I would just like to add...what bothers me the most about this particular feature is I would totally understand if they had just come out and said, even a month or so after the game came out, "This feature has proven to be too ambitious and is currently not ready...blah blah blah" and then gave us even a rough guess at when it may become available. But we haven't heard anything at all and it sucks.
