Rudy's son, Andrew tested positive as well. They're saying he was around the entire legal team (including Rudy) for hours.

They should be fine so long as Andrew wasn't running around licking everything.

...

Yeah, no...they've all got it.

And as quick as we were put into lockdown we will be released from lockdown, effective tomorrow at11.59pm, with exercise allowed immediately (🤬 they're quick, this information has just been released and joggers are already out ).

All because of one 🤬 🤬 piece of 🤬 lying!!!

Marshall says one close contact “deliberately misled” the state’s contact tracing team.

“We now know that they lied,” he said.

A worker at the Stamford medi-hotel, who was feared to have contracted the virus after ordering a pizza from Woodville Pizza Bar, was actually an employee there.

This makes them a close contact another medi-hotel worker at Peppers whose second job was also at the pizza bar.

The revelation has significantly abated fears that the virus had spread rampantly throughout the community.

Marshall says health authorities remain extremely concerned about the cluster and need to find and isolate a whole new group of possible contacts.

“I will not let the conduct of one individual keep these restrictions in place,” he said.

“The selfish actions of this individual have affected families, businesses and social groups and are completely and utterly unacceptable.”

SA Health will be throwing significant resources into contact tracing the contacts of the Woodville Pizza Bar case as they are forced to “start from scratch”.

Edit: It also seems we're far from out of the woods yet:

I have been pass that pizza shop a lot of times, but I have never got a pizza from them.

Damn, reading our city's report, nearly 2,000 new cases & 15 deaths. And one of the major hospitals in the area with specific details withheld, has a floor of RNs who have tested positive because a worker went to Halloween party and then came back to work sick.

Not surprising he's got COVID. Jr has gotten everything in life from his dad.

St. Jude scientists make breakthrough and discover possible COVID-19 treatment

By Joyce Peterson, WMC

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Scientists at St. Jude may have figured out how COVID-19 kills, and more importantly, how to stop it.

The virus has already claimed 250,000 lives in the U.S. and more than a million worldwide. This week, St. Jude researchers announced they think they’ve discovered a treatment.

Anyone with allergies, histamine intolerance, rheumatoid arthritis, or a compromised immune system knows what it’s like to have problems with inflammation. The swelling and pain make it difficult to breathe or to move. The same thing happens with COVID-19.

This virus triggers severe inflammation that cripples the lungs and damages other organs. St. Jude researchers say they’ve identified the mechanisms that drive COVID-19 inflammation and the medicines that can treat it.

The team focused on cytokines, small proteins released in the body in response to inflammation. They concentrated on the most elevated cytokines in COVID-19 patients and found one duo that stood out.

Turns out, the drugs to treat these cytokine reactions, or cytokine storms, already exist.

When tried on mice, the medication protected them from COVID-19 death and from sepsis, a deadly infection of the blood.

“I’ve never been this excited in my entire career,” St. Jude researcher, Thirumala-Devi Kanneganti, Ph.D, told WMC Action News 5, “because this can save lives. The other studies that we have in our lab, they might go into textbooks, and in the long run, they might be in the clinic. But this immediate application is the best thing. I wish starting tomorrow we could treat patients with this.”

So now these drugs will be used in clinical trials on COVID-19 patients. If that goes well, FDA approval is the next step.

Researching this treatment may also benefit those who have auto-inflammatory diseases. This work was made possible by grants from ALSAC, the fundraising arm of St. Jude, and by the National Institutes of Health.

The St. Jude findings were peer-reviewed and published in the science journal: https://www.cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092-8674(20)31542-7

Sounds promising

Been a lot of that promising stuff lately. So when do they start sending the stuff out? 2025?

To get something approved for treatment takes some time. The vaccines are starting to ship next month, however, it's up to the states how they want to distribute them. Chances are people working in healthcare will get the first batch, then afterward, you'll see older people and those who are immunocompromised get it, finally, the rest of the population will be able to get the vaccine. If you want a vaccine, you'll more than likely be able to get it sometime in the late spring or early summer.

As far as treatments go, it could be years. Although, since St. Jude's discovery uses existing drugs, it'll take less time, but there's still a bunch of red tape they need to get through. Emergency use of the drugs probably won't be approved until after the first of the year since the government doesn't work much between Thanksgiving and New Years.

A buddy of mine within' the military said he's heard from a superior, that the military may be getting doses of the vaccine before Christmas which will have its own priority list.

Looks like the vaccine isn't going to make people feel all that great for a day or two:

Doctors say CDC should warn people the side effects from Covid vaccine shots won’t be ‘a walk in the park’

I'm not sure who the first among us will get the vaccine, but I'll be curious to hear about people's personal experiences.
The side effect in me is that I'll be partying like mad for a couple of days.

More seriously, even a regular flu shot can leave you with a slight fever, so surely this was more or less to be expected, no?

I fear that a lot of people will ignore the warnings of potential issues and still infect others (if possible).

Absolutely. The side effects from the flu shot are all over the place. My wife is typically down and out for a day or two while I just have a sore arm. It can vary year to year too depending on what serum is being used.

I think the problem is that something like only 35-40% of people (in the US at least) get the flu shot, so for a majority of people, their only memory of a vaccine is what they got when they were kids. I fully expect to feel like crap for a day or two after each dose, but I have to imagine that it's better than dealing with COVID. If I don't, then all the better, but at least I know what's coming since I get the flu shot every year and have to stay current on all vaccines as part of my job.

What worries me much more is side effects months and years after the vaccination. Some rushed vaccinations have lead to debilitating auto immune responses like Multiple Sclerosis and other severe degenerative illnesses like Narcolepsy years after the shot.- Thats not a fever or a minor inconvenience, that stuff ruins your life.

That's why we have test phases for vaccinations that span several years - this time, we do not have even the slightest idea if this vaccination can cause such problems.

I think that's quite crazy.

*28 days after the first shot.

I saw an epidemiologist saying that immunity doesn't peak until 28 days after the first of the 2 shots for the mRNA vaccines. Don't know about the Oxford one.

I remember back in the 80's and 90's when my dad would get his annual flu shot he always felt bad for a few days afterwards. I got a flu shot for the first time this year and was expecting the worse but only had a sore arm for 4 or 5 days after.

The wife of one of our employees has tested positive for COVID and she is a school teacher. So our employee will be out for the recommended 10 or 14 days I guess.
