Hopefully, she was able to get one of the infusions that are currently available. I'm not sure what ones are authorized in Australia,
Thanks for the link.

We are heading into the hospital for the infusion in a couple of hours.
There are a couple of treatments available to her and her Neurologist recommend Sotrovimab so that's what we are going with.

I'm also pretty disappointed in the federal government and Pfizer for continuing to delay vaccines in children under 5. There's absolutely no reason to wait two months for some data on a third dose when that third dose wouldn't even be in the timeline of things. If a kid were to get vaccinated today, it would be the end of April before they needed a third dose if they needed it at all.
Part of this as reading is that they also didn't fully give efficacy on the original 2 doses either, more of a blurred line in that as what a Vaccinologist from Mayo Clinic said.
While it does seem disappointing for them to wait but I think part of it is to have better transparency to the vaccine (Even though all the vaccines are in some sort of grey area.)

My free Covid tests are finally coming in the mail today, but it is so cold out they could be useless by the time they get here.

I requested the free kits back on Jan 19, just got a notification this morning that they are expected to arrive next Saturday the 26th.

It took a while to find the testing site in Lihue. The address on the appointment email was for the pharmacy but the sign at the pharmacy said it was behind the Target. Drove over to Target and there were no signs anywhere so we went to the pharmacy inside. They said it was behind the building. Since it was nice out, we walked around the building and found the tent way back in a corner. No signs directing you back there at all.

Test came back as "not detected", which is good. Not sure what we'd have done if it had come back positive. :scared:

So did they actually test you or did you get some other random test?

HRH The Queen has tested positive for COVID - expect wall to wall coverage across the BBC for the next 5-10 days.

Prince Charles (1st heir to the throne) and his wife Camilla both tested positive for COVID last week, and that is Charles' second infection.

My school has made surveillance testing no longer required for students who are fully vaccinated with the booster shot because there has been fewer cases than projected. Before, we had to test once a week. People who are unvaccinated or not boosted are still required to test twice every week

It's crazy how big the omicron wave was at the end of last semester

Figures. We leave for a conference and my youngest doesn't feel good. An at home test came back positive, second test was negative. My niece is taking both kids in to get tested tomorrow.

From experience definitely worth going to get a PCR test done and not only rely on the RAT's.
Hope he's ok.

I met with my doctor today, I officially have long-COVID, so hooray for me? Thankfully, since I have an "in" with the doctors, they should be able to squeeze me into our COVID Long Haulers clinic without too much issue. I'm not entirely sure what they can do, but hopefully, it's something because I'm sick of coughing, not being able to talk, and feeling short of breath doing the simplest of tasks.

I had confirmed COVID in February 2021 and it was not pleasant. I had another bout with something in February of 2020 before COVID was a confirmed thing that had all of the symptoms of COVID and that was even less pleasant than the confirmed COVID. Hope you improve @Joey D! 👍

As of today, masks are mandatory only in public transport and planes. Testing is required for large indoor events for everyone. A positive test means a minimum of 5 days of quarantine.

And that is it. As far as the Dutch government is concerned we are done with Covid.

Pretty much where we are at too, except if you work in retail you need to wear a mask but not if you are shopping.

Currently we (Victoria) are around 5k cases a day and that's considered good enough to be finished with Covid for the most part.
We used to be horrified getting 5 cases a day.

It's even more done in England.

No more free tests for most people.
No testing needed.
No need to isolate if you do test positive.
No need to inform employer if you have symptoms or test positive.
No masks needed anywhere.
No contact tracing.
Proof of vaccination or previous infection now only needed for international travel.

Scotland and Wales likely not far away from implementing similar.

Well Pfizer come out with data saying only 12% effective against Omicron in children 5-11.
Which is a disappointment.
However I hope that omicron is the vaccine we failed to produced.

So I guess there was a change to the CDC's recommendations for masks? Not entirely sure as I don't keep up with that. However, my work has aligned with the new recommendations and that is if any of our facilities are in a county that the CDC has marked as low or medium risk, then masks are now optional. If a facility is in a high risk county, masks are still required. Guess which one my facility falls under. 😒

Update: masks are now optional at all facilities. 🤘

It has been a week since my school stopped doing surveillance testing and the cases have already started increases. This was an incredibly dumb decision. They are planning to re-evaluate the mask requirement and I'll be shocked if they decide to remove the requirement.

I took my parents to get their booster shots yesterday morning and was surprised to see the vaccination site basically empty. If it hadn't been indoors, we would've probably seen tumbleweeds rolling around in the winds. What a stark contrast to when they were getting their first & second shots in the exact same pharmacy. Back then, we were waiting for hours.

As countries lift the restrictions and to move on, WHO still insists on vaccinating 70% of the world's population.
Currently holds at 56% but also did mention only 9% of low income countries.
Now is that just straight vaccinations or will that also include the natural immunity?
Because to me it seems like the WHO is also pushing towards that we must vaccinate everyone.

I'm ready for this to be over and to board a plane and fly to somewhere new without having to be tested or show proof of vaccination or anything. Just to return to a normal state.

My local Publix must have dropped the mask requirements for their employees beginning in March. Last night was the first time I've been there since the first of the month and there were very few employees wearing masks. It was also the first time I went in without mine also. I'm beginning to get a little more confident in going into public places without a mask.

Ironically the grocery store shelves were almost completely stocked for the first time in several months also.

We are now over the 6 million known death mark. When the AP published this we were just on the cusp, but taking a look at the Johns Hopkins dashboard, I see we're now over that mark. Yet another grim milestone.

Thankfully, last week saw another drop in worldwide cases and deaths. For the week period ending on 2/27, the world saw 10.9 million cases and just shy of 60k deaths. For the week period ending on 3/6, cases were at 10.7 million and deaths were just over 50k. Considering a month ago we were at 20 million cases and 75k deaths, it looks like we're moving in the right direction. I guess Omicron got us some heard immunity the hard way.
