CRAP Club PCARS 2 Time Trials - Thanks for taking part everyone, we will return one day!

Yeah, I'm up for another Porsche round - they're fun.

What about the Hatch for a track? Is that even in PC2?

Edit - @HammyMansell got in there before me - I'll go with whatever ;)

;) Great minds sometimes think alike man lol! ;) We could do any track that's suggested, i'm open to ideas....

Brands Hatch is there too, but we recently did that on AC! We could do another Nords TT, with a similar paced car to the 911 RSR from this week's AC event to compare times. What's a good motor around Nords on PCARS 2 (non DLC sadly)?

The new Project Cars 2 TT is:

The Formula Renault 3.5 at The Nordschleife Combined (24hr Layout) :D

To be done in “Time Trial” mode using stock setup (if you have a saved setup for this combo, please return it to “default” before trying, as times with the “setup used” symbol will show in the in game timing screen, and won’t be counted!), but you can used both default setups "loose" or "stable" to your liking. You can also use driver aids if you wish! Post an in game screenshot of your time and post it here for it to count, Good luck!! ;)

This TT will end on Saturday night, the 2nd of June.

This might seem a dumb question, but if I remember rightly in PC2 most, if not all cars, have 2 stock setups - loose and stable, with loose being the default. So would I be correct in saying that we use loose for this?

Interesting choice. I've never driven these linked. It also looks like I’m going to have to spend some time on the GP part to get that nailed as the last time I drove it properly was back in the PS1 days on one of the F1 games.

@SpaceBreed - 2 laps of the 'Ring on a locked diff for that ;)

Jeesh only realising now that i posted in the wrong thread, my apologies, i was kinda tired lol.

Haha no worries man, i understand! ;)

Yes @Slapped both "default" setups can be used, "loose" or "stable". I thought i'd put that in the description, now amended! ;)

Come on @gregc give it a little go, it's a fun combo, lots of grip!! ;)

Nice initial time Mr soks!

Had a go of the TT, and what fun!! Lots of grip, and sucks like a nun with no teeth to the racetrack! :D

7:37.677!! Just an initial go, i screwed up the Carusell... Lots more circuit to explore and find more time! 👍

Remember everyone this car has the DRS on it, lots of time to be gained on the straights, just don't forget to close it through some of those faster curves!!

Oh go on then :P

Loads of mistakes, but I did manage a couple of laps without invalidating the lap (one of the reasons I'm not keen on time trialling at the 'Ring is it can be an exercise in frustration on such a long lap). It's also hard on the old hands with a pad too!

7:50.521 for me at the moment, happy to get within <30s of the PC record for now, though that 7:50 mark is looking tempting. Did get a video of my run too, might chuck that on YT tomorrow if it's not too embarassing

Oh bugger - completely forgot about that! Now I'm going to have to give it another try if I can!

Great start mate, and i reckon over the lap you can get another 10 seconds off with DRS alone.

That lap i did was my second attempt, and i only realised about DRS when i got to Arembergkurve....I can shave a bit more off i'm sure of it.

Bugger - I've got my work cut out for me with those times.

At least I've got Thursday off to give it a real go, and then Saturday to really hone it.

Re DRS - I always thought it closed off automatically when you hit the brakes - at least it appears to in F1 2017, although I admit that might be a simplification for playability's sake.

Nope, you're right - DRS should close as soon as you hit the brakes. The tricky thing here is there are a few stretches of high speed corners that are easy flat without DRS, but with it open you're almost certainly going to be off. Thinking particularly of the run up the hill from Bergwerk off the top of my head...

Ditto @gregc 👍

Watch my video @Slapped, and you'll see before the Carusell, the long run up to it, i turn off DRS with the button through 2 or 3 of the fast sweepers, as there's no need to hit the brakes. I hope it helps you man!

Here's my run from yesterday - very scruffy (especially the complete pigs ear I made of the final section before Dottinger Hohe!) and no DRS, but I got round in one piece...

Nice driving greg, you're going well!! Give it a go with DRS, you'll lower the time a lot! ;)

Quick run tonight, small improvement - 7:47.305. The DRS doesn't seem to make a huge difference for me except on the Dottinger Hohe - everywhere else it's small incremental gains. Moving in the right direction though :)

~24hrs later...

Just had time for another lap tonight, and another little improvement - now down to 7:44.615 - at this rate I might catch up with @HammyMansell sometime next week

I was expecting Road America and wasn't sure will I push myself to this one, but I gave it a shot today!

First run was with stable setup getting 7:45 and now with loose 7:37.8

No sure can my driving style help anyone :P

Don't be so sure - there's a fair few things I see in that run that I can learn from :)

You've got until Saturday night @gregc!!

I hope to have another go tomorrow!!

Me likes, me likes a lot!!

Well done mate! ;)

Thanks man 👍

There's still plenty of time to be had though, I've done both the first and last sectors over a second faster in other runs and watching it back there's still plenty of little (and not so little) scruffy moments. Once my hands stop feeling like they're about to fall off I'll give it a final try - right now it's beer o'clock though :D

Oh, and by the way, I'd forgotten how utterly epic the Nordschleife is in VR!

Update...

New time - now at 7:32.204 :D

First lap I've done in this TT that felt ok - couple of minor errors (including a tiny tap on the wall as I joined the Nordschleife - luckily no damage done!) but it felt like a decent lap. There's still time on the table (there always is round that place...) but that's me done for this one I think.
