anyone in the casual room now?
i'm itching for some 5-10 laps races.

Be there in about 5 hours Ken (external pressures notwithstanding) if you will still be around! Hanging to go racing after the work week I just had.

On way home now mate so perhaps in an hour, depends on whether Mrs Pride wants my attention. I'll be using a DS3 too, I've a calf that's swollen to twice its size after cricket so there'll be no wheel action... unless I use paddles for accel & brake & stick for gears, that might work!

Just a quick question about using a wheel that has a clutch pedal, do you get to use the clutch or does it just sit there and you just use the stick for gear changes?

Dunno dude mine not have clutch though it makes sense that you would use it, prob slow most ppl down too. Anyone else know?

On the T500 with TH8 shifter (can't comment on any other's as I've only used this) if you use the clutch it recognises you have and the gear on the HUD goes grey, you can then shift into gear, the HUD shows the gear selected, still grey, until you disengage the clutch then it returns to white.
If you give it too much gas on disengaging the clutch it jumps or over-rev's and you get wheel spin.
It took a bit of practice (I just re-did all the licence tests as it covers all the thing's you need to know how to do) to master the timing and to heel & toe on downshifts in slow corners but it is such a rewarding feeling to complete a good clean lap while throwing it into each gear as you go

heres a quick lap I did around Laguna Seca with Psychotuber :)

I'll try again in a bit, but GT5 is giving me grief with login and such. I think they're having traffic problems or something so I can't promise anything.

Can't this morning. Maybe later tho - I'll keep an eye out for y'all.

Oh and thanks to all who raced my bobs over the weekend - appreciated.

:)

Few of us in the CRAP_2 room if anyone else wants to join.

EDIT- After one race my connection to PSN became very unstable. I just can't go on (sob, sob)....

You must have got sand in it :)

Seriously, sorry you got disconnected though, it was a tiny gap between Heathern and myself at the end. I got disconnected twice too, so hopefully it stabilises soon.

A good night racing :)

Sorry to Ken for bailing as soon as you arrived mate, always a good race with ya :)

So a 10 lap race at Sarthe NC with 787B's soon guys??

wow, I had a lot of reading/catching up to do this morning! haha
sounds like the inaugural enduro was a good time. Good to hear!

*and forgive me as this post seems to be turning into a bit of a ramble..

Another idea I had on things here, to help organize, These forums have "social groups" you can create and whoever wants can join, that gives you sort of a mini forum of your own where you can create threads and posts and not have them get mixed up with the 1000's of other threads in the public GTplanet forums. So with that, the same idea as having our own forums on another website would apply, except its still on GTplanet.net. Anyway, just another idea..

I really like all the ideas everyone has been posting, but we do need some way of organizing it, a schedule of some sorts. There has been a ton of interest in this group, but at the same time, the people I see online in the lounges are only a small handful.
The proposed schedule ideas have been good. I think implementing something like that would be a good place to start. With that, everyone that checks will see what is, and join the event if they can. Having that schedule as the OP in a thread or something dedicated needs to be done though, so people know where to check. Our own forums, either on another website, or the social group here, or even a dedicated "C.R.A.P race schdeule" thread in the clubs & leagues section here seem to be the 3 best options than I can think of (and I'm sure there are more good options)..

All the race type ideas I've read in here so far sound fun to me. I like the slower type cars (ie 450pp or higher :) ) just as much as the fast GT500 or LMP cars. In fact I find it easier to work on driving technique in slower cars, as they're easier to control!
Even a night for race driving training or something interests me! A 5 minute conversation I had with one of our faster drivers a few days ago (and some practice with the new knowledge) helped me shave 3 seconds off my lap times on Oakland Parks, I couldn't believe it!

Ok. To continue on from my last regarding the proposed Spa endurance race, I have now found 10 cars which meet the criteria (to which no-one has said no, so I'm going with it) of 600PP, front and rear adjustable downforce, no more than 5% engine limiting, and RM tyres max.

These 10 cars are capable (in my hands) of setting around a 2"20.000 time with the RM tyres, with no other adjustment to any settings. They are also not the obvious DTM/GT500/JGTC machines.

There is a lot of choice around these restrictions. Many manufacturers and most drivetrains. It should be easy for everyone to find a car they are comfortable with for a two hour ramble around Spa.

Any feedback good or bad is accepted. :)

I'll set something up soon.

Love the stealth 787B, so totally awesome & smooth to drive!
Cool, I'll be up for that one...along with pretty much all the other suggestions flying around (I am listening Tris...keep planning it and they'll all be there.)

Mind you, I'll be off the radar for the rest of this week, I reckon, as I want to nail that 24hr Nürburgring enduro before the change of work schedules next week.

Forgive the silence therefore.

Thumbs up to the alternative forum offer too, could be handy.

Wow, this thread has absolutely exploded over the last few weeks. I can't even keep up with it anymore. I hope the Enduro went well...sounds like it did, but it sounds like it needs a few tweaks. I do agree with the de-tuning of vehicles issue I saw in earlier posts. There should be a limit to detuning but that's all I'll say about it. I'm sure Heathen is on top of it, and doesn't really need my opinion. I do want to say, I am a little disappointed in the NA participation. I never see anyone in the lounges but I usually see people online. C'mon peeps. I can't keep waking up at 5 in the morning to race with the Aussies!

I'm around 2-3 times per week at 9pm-12AM Central Time. I'll keep an eye out for you. We definitely do need more people at these times. As it is now it's usually dead at the times I want to race. I've had to race with other groups at those times, but would really like to get involved here. Do come on fellow North Americans let's get online and race

Whenever I'm online, I check the lobbies to see if anyone is around and only once or twice out of 10 times or so did I see anyone. My suggestion would be to set up a couple of theme nights in certain rooms, doesn't really matter what they are so long as it isn't based on obscure or difficult to drive cars. Doesn't matter what the theme is either, could be 550pp racing, 600pp race cars, 450pp SS, and the host(s) commit to being in the room for at least an hour even if no one shows up.

Trying to do things randomly will work sometimes, but not too often would be my guess. When I go online I like to race, not try and organize things without a plan, take votes on what everyone wants to do..etc. Pick a theme, run with it on a regular basis for a few weeks at a predictable time and the rest will develop from there. Once everyone becomes used to one type of racing, others will naturally develop from there.

Every few nights I can log on, that's typically the time frame I play in too. Must have just missed each other...

I sent messages out to a bunch of you last week sometime when I saw there were a decent amount of us on. The only person to get back to me and join the lounge was BenNiven. I did my part. I can't enter an empty lounge due to my connection type(Nat 3) so I need someone in the lounge. I'm currently working on a way to fix that.

I've also been slightly disappointed with the number of people online so far, in my case during european time. Perhaps the problem is that too few people are willing to start in an empty lounge if they don't know if anyone will show up.

To try to set a good example, I will be in the lounge 45 minutes from now (19:30 GMT) and stay for at least half an hour regardless of occupation. I'm planning to set up road cars at 25pp intervals from 425 to 575pp, so if I'm hosting that's the kind of races there will be.

how do I get into the louge or set one up? I've added the 2 casual race's to my FR list but dont see anything next to the coffee cup when their online? I'm a complete newbie and am probobly missing something right in front my face?

There will never be any indicator on the my lounge icon as unless heathen is logged in as that profile and in the lounge. If you click to join a list of room members will display and ask you to confirm joining. If there's no one on the list then the room is empty.

Hey bro, did you get my message at all? I sent one last night explaining as best I could with that far king controller keyboard :(

Oh, and the ideas are good so keep 'em coming. I'm heading to work early to try get something sorted out so stay tuned :)

I'm coming along now to join you soupy.

I like the idea of a place that will make it slightly easier to find people and what we're upto!
