Thanks for organising what was some excellent racing last night @admoo. It was a great turnout with a full room for most races and more waiting to get in. Well done.
I just want to make a couple of general points about how I'd like us to be running these in the future to make them fit in with the CRAP ethos. This is just a reminder to everyone not a criticism of last night which was fantastic. Many of the newer CRAP members won't be aware of this as I haven't had cause to post anything about them in this thread.
Points
When we do mini series (or even full series) with points like last night can we please give points to all positions. I know it's more work especially recording the result (2 screenshots each race for full lobby races). It's just the way we have always run points scoring events in CRAP. It is more inclusive to all participants and it keeps all racing meaningful and involved right up to the end.
Flags and penalties
I think we should generally turn them off for racing. They aren't working properly yet and it's something that is incredibly difficult to code fairly and correctly. We rely on each driver's own sporting fair play by self stewarding. Slow down when cutting and gaining time, let others repass where position gained from a mistaken cut or unreasonable bump pass.
Racers who flout any lack of penalties (eg consistent corner cutting) aren't welcome but there wasn't any of that last night that I saw. Everyone drove really well and any accidents were dealt with in a grown up manner with polite discussion and apologies where necessary.
We don't need the frustrations of the penalty system. When a corner is cut to avoid an accident or a mistake is made it's very difficult for a computer to correctly make a decision and SMS haven't got it quite right yet. Of course we could say don't make mistakes but normally when a mistake is made there is already time loss incurred. We can self steward our own driving. That should be enough. I'm happy to discuss it though.
Fruity Language
This is a reminder to all (me included) that not everyone wants to hear us swearing into the mics. Please keep the bad language to a minimum. It wasn't bad last night but I want to mention it now to think of others. We have actually had a vicar as a CRAP member in the past. Now I'm not expecting choirboys and girls and I know it just pops out sometimes (fnarr, fnarr, ooh err missus) but let's try and keep it relatively expletive free.
Thanks to all for reading.
Well done again Ad.
