Crysis 3

Looks good. I wonder what platform the video was recorded on. My guess is PC; CryEngine 3 looks amazing. If that's on console holy frack that looks great.

I enjoyed the first 2 games so I will probably be buying this, though something annoys me. You had such a long wait between Crysis and Crysis 2 and they didn't follow up on the storyline they had going, so you played Crysis 2 and didnt have a clue what happened from the end of Crysis 1.

I get the feeling that Crysis 3 still won't wrap that up, almost like abandoned the original storypath, I personally prefered the actual jungle rather than the urban jungle.

Yes, they did follow it up.

Everything that happened in 1/Warhead was essentially a trial run/setup.

What happened when they went back to the island? What happened to Psycho? How did they characters end up where they were in Crysis 2? What happened to the island? How did we end up in New York?

Game feels like this

Crysis 1 ends - Aww yeah we going back to the Island mofosss!!!

Crysis 2 starts - whatup dawg we in new york!!

Just got a GTX670 a few weeks back, but looks like I might need something better to run that game while it looks like that, not even the video demo of the graphics had smooth FPS ^^.

Tessellation on the vegetation and that toad looked amazing.

Lighting of course looks great as always.

You shouldn't be worried about it with a 670 (unless you're running triple screens off that single card).

The odd part is that Crytek is 'killing' NYC again. I got the impression from the Crysis 2 finale that there was some hope the city will rebuild (heard the sounds of people going about and even some vehicle horns).
I hope the situation is better explained.

Also wonder if they modeled a ruined Empire state or their version of the new WTC. Before release, they mentioned something about the latter building representing NYC's resilience or something...

Anyways, hope that the save-anywhere-you-want feature from the first returns. Experimenting in the second was not as easy without it.

Awesome visuals too.

might get this one, as I missed on 2

You're not missing much. I like crysis 2 a lot but it simply is too different from the first one but not in a good way. They made it more call of duty like, and took away most of the things that made the first one so great. Plus the story isn't nearly as interesting, and they changed the aliens. Not even the graphics are better than the first one, and I have them both on PS3, 1 kills 2.

I played 2 before 1, and I really enjoyed 2, but after playing 1, 4 times since it was released on ps3. It's just kind of dissapointing where they went with the series and I think 3 will be even worse.

I always see the graphics arguement and don't get it, (maybe a console thing), but Crysis 2 has something in the region of double the polygons and texture resolution, aswell as much more advanced lighting and better optimisation than the original Crysis.

Maybe the style (being an open island with lush tropical views, vegetation and water) makes it look better, but the graphics are far lower in terms of quality on a technical viewpoint. With that said, Crysis 3 is using the same engine as Crysis 2, it's obvious they are using more of its potential in Crysis 3, but by no means was Crysis 2 lacking in graphical detail.

I think as a game Crysis 2 didn't make sense (to me) after Crysis 1, the original + warhead were better games, they embraced the open world of exploration and dynamic strategies on a tropical island much like its predecessor Farcry did. Crysis 2 was more restricted and linear, in an urban environment of New York city, with a storyline that made little sense if you had played it just after playing Crysis 1.

Crysis 3 looks great (though i'm still wary of those graphics, even Crysis 2 is extremely computer hungry when you're running in DX11/High res textures mode) but it is more along the lines of the less loved Crysis 2 than the original.

Crysis 2 was one of THE best looking games on the 360. Obviously it wont come close to Cryisis 1 on the pc but in terms of a console game, it was stunning. And Crysis 3 looks even better especially with the updated engine.

Crysis 3 Graphics Will Melt Down PCs
Games.on
Remember how we all used to joke about how no computer on earth could run Crysis? Well, Crytek’s CEO thinks that joke is about to come back with Crysis 3. “That joke will be resurrected again with Crysis 3, I’m quite sure about that. There are brutal expectations around the PC version of Crysis 3. So this time we promise to melt down PCs.”

^ Does not surprise me at all. Will be interresting to watch the new pc builds around this site when Crysis 3 comes out. Cant wait to see the screenshots. Pako will be all over this. :)

So story wise, you know what I mean, 2 didn't really even seem like the same game almost. Personally, I usually don't like open world games, I like linear games but I totally agree. For me, Crysis 1 is one of the best shooters ever because the vastly open nature of it. Your objectives are linear but the maps are so gigantic that there are SO MANY WAYS to go at the objective. I've beat it 4 times and I found new ways to do it every single time.

But graphics wise, I don't care if Crysis 2 has more impressive technology and stuff, it just doesn't look anywhere near as good, and no, it's not the setting. For me one of the most impressive parts of Crysis 1 was the inside of the air craft carrier, it looks incredible. It may not be as advanced as 2, but they just nailed everything. Crysis 2 has too much post processing, the textures for the most part aren't nearly as nice, and although some things were improved, it gets crapped on by 1. Worst of all, the color. The color is completely just wrong in 2. It looks stupid frankly. That combined with the lack of clarity it has compared to 1 (because of the post processing and lame effects), I just can't see how anyone could like 2s graphics better.

But I agree, graphics arguments are kind of pointless, but considering these are 2 games credited with having good to great graphics, I do discuss it because personally, I don't find crysis 2 that impressive visually compared to 1, and I think it gets destroyed by Uncharted 3.

No that's not it, it has nothing to do with the power of the PC. Crysis 1 on PS3 looks better than crysis 2 on PC. The style they went with in 2 is crapola. Crysis 1 is damn near photorealistic. Even when you're indoors in 1, it's just noticeably better all around, even if the graphics are less technologically advanced. Clarity, and accurate colors are key, and crysis 2 blew it on both of those aspects. Crysis 1 however nailed it. Great lighting, realistic coloring, great textures, etc.

I can't recommend getting crysis 1 through xbox live enough, and it has nothing to do with graphics either. It's just a better game, better story, and more enjoyable. it's really one of the best FPS's ever for single player

Maybe at release; but after the DX11 and high res texture pack update? Absolutely not. Throw in countless ENB, lighting, texture, and fov mods...... You so crazy. Ha.

Personally I thought Crysis on the PS3 looked downright terrible, but I think that about most PS3 games, there are only a handful of PS3 games that have actually looked decent to me, Gran Turismo 5 being one of those, I think another was Uncharted 3.

It is very important when you compare Crysis 2 to be looking at the high res texture pack in DX11 mode because it makes a massive difference. Personally I can't agree that the PC version of Crysis 1 looks as good as Crysis 2, let alone the PS3 version. I haven't seen the PS3 version of Crysis 2 though.

For me the only area in which the original Crysis looks better is in aesthetics, the fact that is a really well designed tropical island environment, vs the more closed in city environment of Crysis 2. But on a technical standpoint, Crysis 2 is not only much more advanced and powerful (in terms of numbers) but to me it looks better for it.
