Wouldn't surprise me, but it really would be playing the long game. Looking on his wiki page and the articles referenced to him, he was a total goon almost 18 years ago back when he was Australian.

Took a picture of this one over the weekend. A giant banner in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, that was recently put up and reads “coal keeps the lights on”. A cut and dry example of right wing propaganda; this region of the state is the poorest, most drug addicted, and suffered a steep population decline due to the collapse of the coal industry, though it is extremely Republican. Both national politicians like Trump and local ones have ran on false promises that the coal industry will come back, as these communities become closer and closer to ghost towns.
