The Alive CD. I ain't waiting for no YouTube to buffer

Oh. Yeah, it's probably best to buy it so you can listen to it wherever, especially places with either a very slow internet connection or no connection at all.

Also, I don't expect youtube to exist in a few years at the current rate.

Yeah. Plus I can get the CD on the speakers in my dads Ford Galaxy

It's brown y'know

That was always going to be a single, they need to recover the cost of the autotune some how.

I'm not sure what you mean. There's a vocal effect on it, but it's Julian Casablancas singing.

He's got a really decent voice.

Ah right, to be honest it's a lot of things, mainly a vocoder though.

Ugh. I really don't like the Pentatonix cover. It doesn't sound good, the blue contact lenses are kinda creepy, and there's allegations of one of the singers using autotune to hit high notes.

It's finally here! The music video for Instant Crush! There's atleast one pop culture reference (The lights turning off in the warehouse are similar to the ones in Raiders of the Lost Ark) and the DP helmets can be clearly seen in the warehouse. Maybe you guys can pick up on some stuff I didn't see.

I never listened to that track too much when RAM came out, but I've found myself really digging it a lot lately. Totally awesome night cruising music.

Don't know if I like that video though, stinks of Julian - seems like he directed it.

I honestly don't like that song. It's truly the over processed vocals I don't like about:

"And wennawennnanwanna alone again"

"'Cause itdosananona every day"

"Kinda canananlalalalabeena friend"

"Can ibeeenabababeeba away"

"Now I thought abababalala say"

"But I never reelaleeeweelleeenowelalo to go..."

and so on.

Another fan of Daft Punk. Discovered that a few months ago, when a friend told me to listen to RAM and I loved it. Also heard the previous albums and they are pure magic.

Instant Crush is one of my favorite musics since ever. Awesome music

I don't get the hype about Daft Punk. Or Moby, for that matter. It's not even that I dislike electronic music in general. I just don't understand what's interesting about those particular artists, that many many other people seem to love.

Ok so I too was also questioning Daft Punk for long time until started to come across some of their older gold - not strictly "Daft Punk" but older collaborations with other artists (Stardust, Bob Sinclar, etc.) or either Thomas Bangalter alone. I found incredible consistency in the music and an unmistakeable trademark sound. Back then most of the tracks were house/French house and that is where they really shine. I'm disappointed by RAM because that raw house music or signature "sound" that "Daft Punk" built their reputation with was practically nonexistent.

In a world where most electronic DJays use samples, it's amazing to hear real instruments like the electric guitar in Aerodynamic

Tres bien, Bangalter!

Incredibly, I just listened to this song about 5 minutes ago (giving Discovery a go right now at work) and it is indeed amazing. It's my favorite Daft Punk song by far.
That defines Daft Punk for me- incredible

Not that much on my side. I've never liked Daft Pink that much and to this day I kinda don't. I mean it's good and all but I do think the praise they receive is deserved but only for Discovery.

That album verges on pop perfection, whereas their other works leave a bit or a much to be desired in my opinion, specially after Discovery. When you know what they are capable of and then are given Human after all for example, you really wonder what the heck went wrong.

They took inspiration from different genres, that's what. Aerodynamic (for example) took an electric guitar style more suited to metal and rock and added it to their traditional synth. Fragments of Time merges old style (for want of a better work) Funk merged with their electronic style- and the TRON: Legacy score used orchestral pieces and their usual electronic style- nothing went wrong, they just did it differently.
