UK music magazine Q gave R.A.M. a rating of 5/5. One reviewer's opinion of course but they don't splash out with those maximum ratings regularly. Good sign.

I swear if it doesn't start streaming today...

RAM will probably end up being like Justice's Audio, Video, Disco. Everyone will expect their old style, but get something completely new, and therefor think it's horrible, but then realize how great the album really is.

Double post, but big news.

It has leaked. 192kb/s.

It's amazing so far.
Give Life Back to Music, it's even funkier and better than Get Lucky.
Game Of Love: Very Digital Love-ish, sort of a break up sequel to it.
Giorgio by Moroder: Ho.ly. fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Starts out with an interview, I think part of the Collab videos? and goes on for a couple minutes, and then "...but everybody calls me Giorgio" and goes into one hell of a lead, with some little guitar in the background, just such an amazing track. Then another small speech, which ends with a sudden beautiful orchestra bit, but at 5:50. wwoooooaaah. This track is just ridiculously amazing.
Within: Chills man. Chills. That's all I can say, you just need to hear it.

I just listened to the whole album via iTunes. I'm really impressed and I can't wait for Amazon to deliver my physical copy next week. I rarely buy physical media (or media in general) but I felt like this was one album I needed. I'm debating about getting the vinyl too.

It'll be nice not hearing Get Lucky anymore when the album is released. As much as I liked Daft Punk's earlier work, this latest song is being played so much on radio I just instantly turn it off whenever they play it again.

Same here. I change station to avoid it and a car pulls alongside me with it blasting out for the world to hear. I hate the mainstream :(

I'm at track 9. And while this has been a very good funk album, it has not been a very good Daft Punk album because it lacks Daft Punk. Will report back when finished the entire thing.

Just finished the Album and Giorgio by Moroder is my fav track for now.

Regarding Giorgio Moroder, do you guys know this?

This 1978 movie is awesome. OST from Giorgio :)

After one full listen, I stand by what I said a few posts above, it's mostly a good funk album -nothing extraordinaary mind you- with a couple electro tracks thrown in for good measure, but nothing more.

It severely lacks the wild Daft Punk electrostyle and robotic stuff; and yes, I do know it was never intended to be another "robotic" album, the colaboration with human beings attest completely to that, but it doesn't have a pinch of creativity on it. Really, it's pretty average. Not dancey at all if that was expected.

Knowing what Daft Punk are capble of, this album is a letdown. Good album, but far from what oh it could have been.

I didn't like any of the the songs except for:

"Giorgio by Moroder" (which actually exceeded my expectations because it really does sound like that typical Moroder style)

"Lose Yourself To Dance" is very good

"Give Life Back to Music" is good

"Touch" is a good slow dance track

"Fragments of Time" is ok

The rest doesn't seem as dynamic and fluid as I hoped. :indiff:

It's definitely a lot more chill, I love it a lot for what it is. I definitely wasn't expecting anything spikey, or with breakdowns, they've gone way past that in their journey as artists. Leave that to the guys who are still pushing that particular genre.

This is the type of album that will get better the more you listen to it, trust me.

I think I've figured out what Random Access Memories means, to me anyway. This album, unlike Human After All, Discovery or even Homework, is not something I can just play when I'm riding a bike or playing a game. It's more near and dear to my heart, it's an album that becomes a task to listen to. It's not a good soundtrack to other things but I believe it's a great album when you take the time to listen deeply to the music.

Anyway, cheers to Daft Punk!

Yeah, it's a great tribute, but I can't just play this like the other stuff they have, it's like a study into music.

I mean the track I like the most, Giorgio By Moroder, is more of a glimpse into his life than a song from him.

Edit:

You know what I need? I need Cherokee to make some remixes of this album

This album is fantastic. So refreshing. Death to garbage electro! This is real electronic musicality.
