Instant Crush, Fragments of Time and Doin' It Right are easily my favourite songs from the album. Already preordered it on iTunes.

I expect Instant Crush to be the 2nd or 3rd single. Would be cool if they could grab Julian Casablancas for the video.

So I've been listening to a lot of Daft Punk, and I accidentally came across the official video for "Prime Time of Your Life". Well, I won't be able to listen to that song again. :scared:

So I was randomly checking out music on youtube by Japanese pop group Dreams Come True, I somehow run into this:

Just got the Vinyl in the mail today.

It's just so cool to have a physical version of it, I can't wait to get a player for it.

Sweet! I'm a bit jealous now. I bought the digital version off iTunes.

I've got my last week of school before my study leave and I'm planning on getting Random Access Memories on my last day.

Somebody talk me into it! Although it'd be difficult to talk me out of it!

Do it! Work hard for it! You won't be disappointed.

AND DONT YOU DARE LISTEN TO A SONG BEFORE YOU BUY IT!

I've listened to Get Lucky 100 times already! Blame the radio. But I'll avoid the rest and have hours of ear-gasms like I have with nearly every Daft Punk track :D

There was a story on news about how vinyls are coming back. Some audiophiles always preferred analog sound anyway, but according to this story, it's starting to gain the attention of the younger crowd & overall vinyl sales has been coming back.

I'm listening to the CD now & as someone who enjoyed Daft Punk's slower songs in the past, I'm quite happy with this album(and the BestBuy price tag). Not gonna lie, I do miss their more upbeat stuff too though. Maybe the CD I ordered on half.com called Daft Club will have some of that!

The younger people, such as a few friends of mine, are probably doing it to be "retro-cool". I have one friend who is actually literally buying Discovery on vinyl to listen to. RECORDS DESERVE LISTENING TO!

Yeah, unless you want to enjoy the nice & mellow analog sound, I don't really see a merit in paying more for vinyl.

P.S. Story I saw did say that these younger people actually preferred the sound quality of vinyls.

I suppose people my age are a sucker for fashion. I'm sitting here in my Kimi Raikonnen "leave me alone" t-shirt and tracksuit pants thinking "What is fashion? Does it even matter?" So I don't understand the fuss...

LegacyMACHINE, don't knock it until you've tried it. ;)

I'll probably pick up a copy of the vinyl version when I drop off some books at uni this week.

Perhaps somewhere along the line the desire to become cool becomes an actual appreciation of the thing they're trying to get into. I've seen that many times amongst friends, and if it means that 'old' things like vinyl and film stay alive, I'm happy for them to have a trendy image. 👍

Anyway, just bought the Studio Masters version from Qobuz (so I get a huge choice from 24/88.2 lossless files to 128kbps MP3s), much better value than the other music stores and it's pretty much the exact same files they've used for the vinyl pressing, so none of that 'Mastered for iTunes' rubbish.

Damn, that was nice.
Maybe off-topic, but why Japanese people always get bonuses?

Also, dat Vinyl. I have a vinyl player ... but no discs for it. :indiff:

That's because too many young people these days think that playing MP3's from their phone whilst walking down the street is the norm! Anything's better than that.. even Vinyl!

Anyway,

Gave it a listen through twice since it cropped up on my Spotify feed on Facebook... I have to say, I'm not impressed, I thought it was going to be better than it was. Although to be honest I was never going to buy it anyway, a couple of people who came in to my office asked what this "poo" was I was listening to was, and were surprised when I said it was the new Daft Punk album, at least one of them is now not going to buy it.

Domestic CDs in Japan are more expensive than the imports, so the bonus tracks are there to attract Japanese buyers towards domestic releases.

I always wondered about the Japanese bonus track thing as well. Growing up there, I think the CD was like $30 at the time(we are talking two decades ago!), and cassette was maybe $20? One thing's for certain, price could not have gone up since. They even had CD rental services, and you can understand why.

How many times when rock stars are asked how they got started, they answer "to get the girls"?

Valid point, but the story was implying the kids like the unique quality of the vinyl sound, not like "the" sound quality. I probably worded that poorly.

Not surprised, and I've only listened to it once, but for a release from artist like Daft Punk, I felt that it was a par at best....... and I'm a fan that listens to every genre & liked their slow stuff from the beginning. When I picked my CD up yesterday(ordered on bestbuy.com), guy there mentioned how he handed like ten of them out already, and it was barely afternoon. I wonder how those people liked it. :D
