Ran 4 more races at DTG & many more qualifying laps. Got a better time, which lead to a 2nd place start & then starts from the mid pack. :yuck: I enjoyed myself this week, even with the usual run in with some drivers with B/S ratings. Ended with an 11th, 5th, & 2nd place finish. Picked the team account up to almost 20K & it is now the highest point account I have.

 
Now, about that very first race I mentioned....

Decent lap for this past week's race C. I couldn't get much speed out of the Atenza for some reason, switched to the WRX and improved by 2 tenths on my first lap. Then I gradually found another 2 tenths and ended up with this. :) Both the car and the track (besides the chicane) grew on me quite a bit. The WRX is just slow on straights though, the Atenza ghosts embarrassed it which is saying something :lol:

Pretty darn quick. I should try a WRX. That numpty that bumped me yesterday in my alt, just won by 12 seconds with me in the RC F(on my normal acct). All A/A room(I'm now back at A/S).
Started and finished P2.
 
Race A, the start!!! Standing start with a short run into the slow hairpin corner and the TT which is probably the better car over a lap gets left standing by the Pug. Turn 1 madness and door banging a plenty. Best get your alt accounts out for this one boys. Might not be bad in higher splits but am DR B and SR A so got a mixed grid DR B to D...
 
Tried the 2 stop in the Lexus 16 for race C (GTR 16 is probably the car but I like the playboy livery on my Lexus and I don't think there is much in it), and not sure if it works or not. Started 3rd, got past the guy in 2nd after about a lap and chased after the guy in 1st. Was right on his bumped when we pitted on lap 6, but I went mediums again and he went hards. Took me about a lap to get by, and then built up about 4.5 secs of a lead and pitted again on lap 12 (so 6m 6m 1h). I came out behind him by about 1.9 secs, and closed that up to 0.9 secs by the end, but still only 2nd place.

Obviously lost a little time overtaking, but it feels like a 1 stop to me - something like 6h 7m

Had a quick tt at race B in the Z4, but couldn't hook up a lap and I ran out of time. Looks like the R8 will be very popular though.

Last time we had this combo it was definitely a 1 stop if there was traffic but some could 2 stop if they had miles of clean air.
 
Didnt know...so i can use hard and then when in pits i go for medium ?
The hards will get you to Lap 8. Be aware, players starting on RM will NOT be patient.

Up to A/A. Got another 2 second penalty for a RC F divebombing after the Dunlop sign. I'm on hards and navigating the turn. Probably latency had us touch side by side, as we're turning left. I get 2 seconds and lose the lead.

So many people not switching tyres at the pit. They put another set of RMs.

Probably staying with Race B this week. Big Lex throws the tail out in the corners. Really helps with corner exit.

Edit: I can't remember if I've ever done an FL faster than my qualifying lap. Qualy:

Felt like I was making mistakes each corner.

Edit2: Jumped in the WRX and went .6s quicker. Two wins in a row and I'm back up to A/S.

Now I see why the "penalty system is ****" thread. I recently got PS+ to try GTS online (after over a year away) and it really is awful.
I have full green bars which means my connection is good, but during two races on Laguna Seca today I got pushed repeatedly by players dive bombing in corners taking the inside, and they didn't get any penalty. I did!

Same until yesterday with the Brands Hatch race with the Mini.

Yes the online racing in the Daily Races is very poor at the moment with almost no punishments for those causing the carnage but you receive plenty on their behalf which is not correct or fair and we all live in hope that a miracle may happen one day.

That said I will shortly be testing the ultimate 'carnage zone' as going into an online weekly event and I hear online racing drivers in F1 games have legendary 'dirty driver' status so it will be interesting to compare with my Sport experiences...

hard tyres on nurb GP feel like driving a truck on ice

Why mediums are not used as the default tyre I will never understand, the hards are joyless on every track. Fighting understeer everywhere.
 
Aww they had a good run choosing interesting combos. Now we're back to boring and overused stuff.

There's a very simple something they haven't tried yet: filtering that's not limited to FWD-only for Gr.4. RWD and AWD-only can also be a thing and would bring just as balanced racing, both in tire wear and sprint races.
