A couple of years ago I did some testing with TC and I found it increased tyre wear as it caused more understeer

I have noted the understeer on exits and had attributed it to better throttle management but had not considered the tire wear impact.

My plan is to:
  1. run a race with TCS=3 and utilize second gear.
  2. run a race with TCS=0 and minimize second gear.
Then compare.

NA friends, if you see an R4M_Spec_Miata in your dailies, say hi, I decided to make a 'racing from the back' alt account to chase a few streamer friends around.

(but don't tell them, if you know who they are, obviously ;) )

Three podiums so far, would've had a win but I got rammed into the wall by a ... "driver" on the finish straight in the 3rd race.

Maybe you're in the diet version.

Nope. No diet on my cars.

*Sees Corvette in Top 3* 👍
I'm actually shocked it's that high up. While the Gr.3 version was brilliant to drive here in the FIA race (also surprising at the time), I was sure the Gr.4 version would be out of its element since it's much more "boat-like" in its handling, at least to me.

I would use the word “tight” to describe the Gr. 4 ‘Vette. The Gr. 3. version is good & limber. But, both Vipers drive nice & athletic to me.

More power to you guys who can run without it reliably in gr3, I can’t.

I’m a big proponent for not using TCS. But, I was on the DS4 at the time & felt like I needed TCS to help. I can’t act like I’m the next big racing star since I use TCS on a wheel for Gr. 2 & faster cars. But, I can recall when I felt like I was fast with TCS.

I'm not so sure TCS will save you at BH from binning it. Lol. It doesn't take much.

Just catching grass with the back tires & any steering input is the kiss of death on most tracks in the game.

Group 4 exists so that your teammates have a chance to beat you fairly-ish occasionally

Group 4 exists because nobody wants to spend money to race in Gr. 3. :P

I'm really hoping the rumored forthcoming BoP update adds a significant horsepower bump to all the Gr. 4 cars, they have way too much grip for the current power level.

Um, no. Not all Gr. 4 cars need a power increase. Let PD put them back to RH tires & let’s see if they lose some of that grip. But I also wasn’t aware that PD was planning any BoP adjustments this late in the game’s life.

I think the Ford GT is amazing but I'm probably only person who will tell you that  I wouldn't touch the Gr3 Mustang at all.

Oh yeah, the Mustang Gr. 3 is total garbage.

100%, catching a slide should rarely to never be a surprise. You have to put in enough laps to know what the car is going to be trying to do in every corner on the track. That way, you know when and where the car is going to want to slide, and can ready and waiting to catch it before it even starts to happen. I find myself attempting to catch slides that don’t even happen at times now, just because the car would normally slip a bit in that corner.

It took me some time to learn that technique, but when you know what the car plans to do, you can tell it what you plan to do. :mischievous:

You make an R4M account right as I retire mine. :D

nice racing with ya. So hard to get a CRB from the back. I took a pen in that race and I’m honestly not sure who I touched

Good evening friends,
tonight was the first night of 0 TCS testing. I switched cars from vette to the Audi R8. I must say tonight was a smashing success on B race.
Lap 1 race one Surtees spit me off onto the grass on the left side after I got my outside rear onto a few blades of grass on exit...I was able to recover back to ninth.
From there I saw Mr laces out (@Pigems) and several others.
I am now plus 2000 plus 8 sr back to 99, sitting on a four race crb streak. I lowered my qual time a couple tenths and it made a big difference...The R8 has really grown on me quickly...The cockpit mirror is a bit high but nevermind that, it sounds good and drives well.
So far, so good...to be continued...

Hard? I've just got that account out of DR E and haven't had a clean race yet.. either the low rated "drivers" have seen enough of R4M passing them or they just hate being passed at all. Which is strange because they're very slow, so you'd think they're be used to it.

My week is done at brands, gotta say, I did good work. Gained an astonishing 5000 dr points at a track i usually bleed them at, and against high b and a drivers in mostly S rated rooms.

I dont really have the pace to hang with that crowd, I start p11 to p15, but I choose stable cars (bettle and lancer) and rarely make a big mistake. I also refuse to race, if you catch me, I keep a line, get past and its yours.

It paid off, I often finish p5 to p8 despite lack of pace. Guys keep sliding off, especially the Renault drivers.

Firstly, kudos to the players around me at the start. Cayman ahead went off. Te 86 spun and recovered. I let the TT go and I repassed it in the same lap.

Secondly, I'm not new to the Genesis, but hot damn! If there were ever a beginner's car to use, this is it. Buy one.

It's the sleeper in Gr.4. For sure, it's been in the FIA World Tour and many have chosen it over the FIA seasons. Thing is, its consistency. It's got a V6 with just enough power. Gearing works well for the powerband. Excellent brakes. Major reason for my feelings about this car is, the suspension. PD somehow combined the tightness of the Mustang with the dampening of the RC F. At Laguna Seca, it's perfect.

Release the throttle is its MO. Think understeer will occur when the fronts begin to wear? Release the throttle. Worried about too much speed being carried? Release the throttle. I seriously do not believe I've had a smoother drive in all my races in GT Sport... ever.
Regarding that start, I did the whole race in cockpit view. Visibility out, is similar to the Mustang(good). I can see out the driver's side mirror at a glance. Rear view mirror is halved due to the default FOV.

Anyway, the steering is precise. I don't even recall the tyres squealing. I didn't have any uh-oh moments. I got pressure from the Slophy, but it went a bit too hard and spun behind me. I was so calm. The race I been wanting to have all week. Once I climbed the hill, which is half race distance, I was agining on the WRX and maintaining my gap to the Slophy. Watching the replay, looks like I'm watching an AI demo. I want to shake someone's hand and give them a pat on the back. It was that smooth. 👍

Yeah saw your comment just as we were going in. Found the Trophy OK, but too dodgy on worn tyres, can't do the Cayman at all though. A few laps in and it's like driving on ice, not fast enough to even consider pitting.
I find that interesting! I get to lap 8 in the Cayman and find that only then do I notice any tyre fade. Around lap 11-13 I'm being super careful, early braking, turning early, etc, but I find it quite easy to handle up to that point. I wouldn't even contemplate pitting in it.

Same with the Mustang. 3rd to 10th. I didn't get beat up either. Tyres fell off a cliff by Lap 5.
It was like a BTCC race, with a train of cars whizzing by. Even a GT-R passed me and the driver waved good-bye.
My tires sadly suffered on the final two laps. After all of the shenanigans that happened between laps 1-11, a McLaren was able to catch up and pass me with 0 issue. We had similar tire wear, but my Supra had lousy handling at that point.

The surprising part was that I finished 2nd.
