Gonna make a new alt acct for ‘Merica. Race B is an absolute blast but a total SR killer. Nothing dirty... but the racing is so close that accidents happen. Need to work on my qually though as my race pace is exactly what my mediocre 1:25 time suggest. Not that any of the front guys are actually able to keep the 1:23 pace that they qualify with. Nonetheless, I’m always fighting up from nearly dead last and Brands is just too tight of a track to make hay. At this rate I’ll be down to SRB innings time.

superb racing though!

YAY! beat a TT fair and square. on my B?S alt though. TT was A/S with a 1:26.xxx qualy to my 1:28.906. Supra right behind me, with a similar time. Started 2nd and just stayed with it. Set two FL. One I set, AFTER serving my 1 second penalty, for exceeding track limits. Lap 9, made the pass on exit of the final turn, as the TT went a bit wide. Won by 4.5 seconds.

The race before, I battled from 7th. A+/A/B/S, me at B/S. Passed a TT and Scirocco and stayed with a WRX. Those tailights are the worse. I worked out the player's braking points and stuck to that. However, mid-race, the player stays braking straight at the final turn and I had to evade right. Dropped a spot as the Scirocco goes by. Tyres start to grip up again. I aim for the Scirocco and pass it swiftly. Closing the gap to the WRX, but too not enough laps. Finish 5th.

If the Genesis continues to give me this confidence, might have a serious look at it for FIA again.

I'm finding race A quite easy pickings this week. Admittedly I'm not at a great rank.

It reminds me of the race at SSRX a few months back with the Ford GT in that you can win from further back. I've had three wins - two from 7th and one from 10th. When I qualified higher I didn't win.
  • grid start use TCS1. A lot of drivers mess it up (because they don't have to use grid start in QF) and you can get a few places easily.
  • Crucial thing is to avoid carnage at T1. To this end, if possible position yourself in a "pocket" so no danger of being rammed from behind, or ramming driver in front. A lot of drivers seem to want to be in a train for slipstream.
  • You will find a few drivers are taken out at the first chicane and their aggressors will get penalties
  • From combo of grid start plus casualties, plus penalties, you can easily gain 5/6 places on lap 1
  • Use slipstream where possible
  • Use mirror and watch for nutters
  • Sometimes a nutter flying past you can help take out the driver in front

Good stuff at Monza again today. Mostly clean racing, an occasional undeserved SR down for contact in the chicanes, but overall a lot of fun to race the little Clio on that big fast track. Managed to get my QT down to 2:16.3, but still only good for 200th or so in Americas and 7th or 8th in most races at 99SR. Good seeing @BenRod and @sturk0167 out there again... including a podium sweep for GT Planet, with RPMcMurphy doing it the hard way from the back without qualifying, up to 2nd.

Haven't seen much said about Race A this week, but after a couple of weeks away from the game, found that one to be the most fun for me... the car really rewards you when you don't overdrive it, and while it's an odd match at Monza (someone forgot to tell the Clio that it's the "Temple of Speed"!) the racing is fun, and if you're careful, pretty easy to pick up both free and earned positions even if you aren't qualified in the top 3 or 4.

Hope to grind it out some more before the weekend is over... and to improve my QT. Ran a 2:16.4 in a race, which is faster than my current QT, so I'm sure I could get to 16.0 or close with more than the hour's worth I played last night.

Egads,
So I made stupid earlier and punted a guy, dropped from 99-82.
Race C then 87...Screw it entered B...
Pole position...My pace stunk. RS01 3 tenths back lunges inside at Hawthorns..Total reject move.
I crossover and get his inside next turn but he turns in wrecks himself and I cop a 3 second penalty!!!!
ASAASRRRRGGGHHH!
I’m so pissed. You can’t trust anything below 99 AT ALL. Guy listed his IG what a fool!!!
Next race starting soon, maybe 80 sr and I made this stupid rule I can’t use TCS...
I’m screwed!!!!

SR back in the 90s lol. This is a tough one to keep it up with all of the people bombing the chicanes, and getting caught in the mess. Other than that, saw reasonably clean racing out there tonight. Fun racing with you @KosmoKazi and @BenRod this afternoon. Was able to get my qualifying time down, but couldn't match it in races. TheKid_BHR was owning the track as usual.

You were A+ and never turned your TC off? I assume its required to get that high.

I got angry. A few times at Brands I hung a wheel off and mowed the lawn...Then tried race C no qual. that was my mistake...Dropped to A, quit out twice, then just lost it on B against the mouthbreathers...
I had pole but ran off the curb exiting a turn, then a guy in the mouth breather pack started swerve blocking me approaching Hawthorns so I blasted him...
Then the guy behind me blasted me and I went NUCLEAR taking out all three cars at once, and then quit at 13 seconds of accumulated penalties...Oh well better that than holding in the frustration...
This is why you use ALT...

CAUTION VIDEO HAS FOUL LANGUAGE

Been loving the Laguna Seca race, so long as I can avoid the dirty blockers and people who run you off the road. Was using it to improve my alt account through A-rank until it got SR downed so bad that I'm having to restart B rank again. Switched back over to my American account and have been having a good time with the Toyota 86. I think it's a great car for this race, loses only a second or so in lap time over the stint because of the great tire wear. Have to drive it completely different from the other cars, early apex and get a good angle then power your way out as the other cars understeer. It's never going to set a lap time as fast at the TT or Megane, but it will easily be over a second a lap faster by the end of the race. No traction control, no nothing.

This was definitely the most fun I had working my way through a field, since I set my qualifying lap in the 86 I'm always starting mid to rear pack.

So after a year of playing and about 60,000 miles in the Ford GT, I've finally got win #200 FL 1:22.333 in race.... only been reset once, thankfully, Monza at that!

Funny how a track I started out hating and never wanted to race so I avoided it like the plague is now my most successful track

149 races, 49 wins, 91 top 5s

It's definitely a capable car as opportunity is limited to pass at BH and it really takes you screwing up to happen.

I managed a 1:22.093 qualifying time and finally caved in and drove the Audi R8... It was pretty impressive out of the gate and it only took me 3-4 laps to smash my time in the Ford with 1:21.772

So yeah while the meta R8 is great and all I'll be sticking to my guns in the actual race.

It has been a pleasure using the 86 for Daily Race C. Was able to nab 4 wins before the end of the week with the car and this is probably the best Gr.4 car I driven around Laguna Seca. Decent tire wear, handles light, and can keep the TTs and Meganes at bay if driven well.

PD seem determined to test me these past few weeks, Group 1 isn't my strongest and neither is Laguna based on this weeks performances.

Gonna skip Sundays daily races and dedicate a few hours to some solid Bathurst practice. If there's gonna be anywhere to recover that DR it's gonna be up the mountain.

Thought I'd share my experiences with the T3PA conical brake mod today.
I thought I'd try a no-stop with the TT yesterday on the alt since I haven't done much racing this week. I kept @Pigems' advice in mind, and I tried to brake early and go easy in the corners. I kept braking too much though, no feeling in the brake pedals.
When I first got my wheel, I wasn't keen on the brake mod, since I was worried it would feel too stiff. I use shoes and socks, so I don't have much feeling though, so I decided to try out the brake mod. I did a little bit of testing, it felt actually quite good even though I didn't expect it to!
It helps me modulate the brakes much better, I've kept it at the lowest setting. Hard/Sudden braking is still easy enough to do, I tested Gr.1s and a Corvette and Bathurst(one of my favourite combos, so it was good practice for next week).
Works great in action in today's DRWF lobby, feels great and took me barely 2 minutes to adjust.
The only thing I'm concerned about is sudden braking in actual races when someone spins, it requires more pressure than usual. And maybe trail braking, not that I do real trail braking anyway.

FL 1:22.333 in race....

That’s MOVING. I did get an FL of 22.363 in the R8 last night but no pressure leading at B B...

Speed.

So I think I will give my impressions so far on switching cars to MR AUDI R8 with no tcs. I’m an fr guy.
So, the car is very capable. I’ve run I dunno how many races and excepting a few times at the hairpin I haven’t spun. What has happened is I’ve dropped a wheel off on exit and mowed the grass.
That’s happened way too many times. On Fr I almost never crash...Pretty much never...But I think I need to take on more risk to push the speed a bit quicker...
I’ve had a bunch of races where I’ve run a couple mid 22 laps, but also I’ve had a bunch with off pace high 23 even 24 and big mistakes costing time.
So, so far I’d say my PEAK times are strong, but the consistency is a problem. I haven’t tried the vette no TCS yet.
I notice with the R8 in general...I can get where I need a break from it. Get too pushy and try to force the car and she doesn’t respond.
A little dab of brake and then a smooth turn in to apex though and she’s quick and stable.
So far no tcs has wrecked my consistency (could be car choice also I never run mr gr3) however it shows its potential too hitting faster than q in race (no draft I was leading)
One thing I DEFINITELY miss is the feedback of TCS. The instant you start manhandling the car with TCS, you get the power cut and that’s negative reinforcement so immediately you calm down and focus in on proper inputs.
With no TCS it’s easy to get into bad habits trying to overdrive the car, for me a huge thing is remembering slow is fast. Sawing at the wheel and aggressively punching it doesn’t get times at Brands in the R8 for me.
It should be a gentle brake to get the nose down and smooth slow winding of the steering and nice smooth move to full throttle...
It seems easier to run low 23 high 22 than when fighting it running mid high 23 because the cars upset half the time...
The journey continues.

Edit @NoStopN GD RIIII!!!!GR4 Stang!!!
