I realize now how bad I am on tire wear. I qualified P2 yet had the worst tire wear in the TT then every other car. Class 'BS'. This probably also explains my problems on race C the other week. I just can't get the grip down with TC-0 or 2. Not only that, I noticed the TT's show the front left tire wear highlight on the right turn on the corkscrew. What does this indicate? Didn't even know there was another function to that.

Edit
I must say the Audi R8 certainly has a much ‘racier’ feel when driving and is nicely balanced.
I just ran vette for qual and on this combo average time is .3-.5 slower than Audi.
With vette though I could churn out those times all day.
I hang a wheel off in the Audi maybe once every 7-9 laps when running peak times of 22.6 or so...

Looking forward to Bathurst I’d say both Astons will be great choices.
The Vantage is maybe a bit pointier but the DBR9 was formidable last time we raced gr3 there also...
I really don’t think I will be able to make an mr car work, there.
I will try the r8 first though, since I’m learning it’s ways rn.
I’m not sure much can catch the Vantage on the straights except DBR9. DBR9 can pull out on the Vantage in draft, or it could last time, dunno if BOP has been adjusted...

So after a year of playing and about 60,000 miles in the Ford GT, I've finally got win #200 FL 1:22.333 in race.... only been reset once, thankfully, Monza at that!

Funny how a track I started out hating and never wanted to race so I avoided it like the plague is now my most successful track

149 races, 49 wins, 91 top 5s

It's definitely a capable car as opportunity is limited to pass at BH and it really takes you screwing up to happen.

I managed a 1:22.093 qualifying time and finally caved in and drove the Audi R8... It was pretty impressive out of the gate and it only took me 3-4 laps to smash my time in the Ford with 1:21.772

So yeah while the meta R8 is great and all I'll be sticking to my guns in the actual race.

Wow, I need some tips. And you should go pro and make money.

This what I got so far. TCS 0, RM, BOP On, 3 Laps each. Early morning runs. Not pushing hard.

First, the RC F '16. What is it with the bouncing revs after shifting? Super annoying. Cornering felt better than the RC F '17, but I don't know about the speed. My optimum was 2.02.4xx.

Disappointed with the Mazdas. The Atenza felt out of wack and I KNOW this car inside and out. I doubt their good tyre wear will help them.
Also disappointed with the NSX. Felt like a turtle.

SOmeone going to have to try the GT-R. The spinning wheels are out of control. I wait and get the car turn. Ease on the throttle and then squeeze the trigger. It's like a 1980s F1, with boost lag. Ridiculous.

Genesis was smooth everywhere. Thought it would be quicker than the RC F. Maybe in race pace.

The "GT300 Mother Chassis" Evo & STI. Crazy easy. Takes a while, but they do hit 270km/h right before The Chase. Evo felt more stable at The Dipper and Forest's Elbow.

I think the DBR9 is a precursor to the Mustang, F1 and Ford GT. They'll just pass everyone on the straights.

I'll leave the usual suspects: RCZ, AMG GT3, Supra, M6, etc. (All the "proper" META cars in speed and handling), to the Leaderboards. If we can qualify on RS, might switch things up.

So I think I will give my impressions so far on switching cars to MR AUDI R8 with no tcs. I’m an fr guy.

Edit @NoStopN GD RIIII!!!!GR4 Stang!!!

What I was thinking when I stopped using TCS for Gr. 3/4:

The sounds great, but the livery needs work. They should hire @sturk0167 to give pink a tougher look, like this one he made...

Needless to say, if the Gr. 4 (& Gr. 3) Mustangs sounded that good, they can be rainbow polka dotted & I'd drive the hell out of 'em

If you see the red outline it means you are spinning/sliding/abusing that tire or it is already badly worn and can't handle the load you applying. Either way it is bad. For example, three or four tires will light up with a sideways ride through the gravel.

After lots of input/discussion from this board I can recap the main tire saving techniques in the FF Audi TT (in priority order):
  1. light and even 50-70% braking - avoid full hard sustained braking.
  2. BB+5.
  3. Listen for heavy tire squeal.. then avoid the actions that led to it. Hard acceleration/braking while cornering is the main culprit. In the settings you can amplify the tire noise compared to other things.
  4. Don't jab the accelerator. Be gradual. As others have stated a little goes a long way and hard application leads to (edit: understeer).
  5. Try 3rd gear for the corkscrew and aim for 90 kph minimum speed in practice and ease into the throttle as you go down the hill. Listen for and avoid the wheelspin squeal. You can get to full throttle quickly... just don't jab... needs to be a continuous motion.
  6. 3rd gear for T1.
It is possible to be both fast and preserve a semi-competitive tire until the end of the race (more than 60% tread). The techniques require practice. Instead of QT, practice the above and aim for your QT+1.0 seconds and you will be set.

Save a race and then look for the top TT drivers and watch what they are doing. In the Americas "Bia - Pink..." is amongst the fastest GT4 drivers and she is using 3rd gear in T1 during the races.

TCS - pick what you are comfortable with. It does not have a big impact on tire wear compare to the things listed above. TCS will help avoid some of the wheelspin but it is not the determinant.

That's some detail. Thanks! I bet all the guys I raced are aware of it.

:::SIGH:::
I’m building back up. I’m now B S.
Just got spit off at Paddock Hill Bend with like a 14 second lead...
No TCS so far is inconsistent and dangerous. I’m getting tired of random crashes...
On the positive side, yes sometimes I get pretty quick laptimes...
I’ve got two weeks to go but as of right now I’m not convinced of anything.

As far as tire wear at Laguna, the games driving line works fantastic there.

Liking this car at Laguna Seca. Consistent all race. Just got held up with the DNF's fighting for P1. We lost touch once the SLophy broke away. Oh well. I would have been P2 or P3.

Did not realise the C7 was this good. Solid performer.
One race using the alt(no qualy). No dramas in that race. Moved up from Last to 5th.

Jumped in the main for my first race. Started 8th. Finished 5th.
Next race below. Pretty strong car.

Holy crap @Redneckchef, the guy you submitted was saltier than a sea cracker. Also, @Trone_Colby makes his presence known.

He looked in the replay like he just had no concept of slipstream or following people. I've had bad races, including getting lapped at Tsukuba in one of my first ever daily race A's, but I've not had a start as bad as that guy. He was just struggling keeping it on track even when he was alone. Not sure how he managed to set a qualifying time that fast.

Might be a younger brother maybe? Or maybe he was not sober?
It’s very easy to set a >5% lap time if you know the physics engine enough, staying on track is a completely different thing.
I think I got a 2:02 on my first race at Spa Gr.1, spun, crashed, punted.
Got a 59.3 later but it took one or two races to get the consistency.

Well, the C7 is a blast at Brands Hatch. That 3rd gear punch just rockets the car out of turns. Really nice brakes and rotation, pretty much everywhere. Looking to see how it goes at Bathurst. Running the old Trofeo C6 GT3 Bathurst livery.
I've made a tribute to the American Magic sailing team for their efforts at the America's Cup over in NZ. I'll be running that this coming week...

Every time I see something like that, I can't help but think that someone's kid fired up their parent's account thinking it would be fun. Only to find that dad or mom's going to real pissed when they find out their rating have been trashed.

Good morning friends...
After my completely unhinged destruction derby behavior it’s taken me 12 hours, but I’m almost back to the A level.
I believe late yesterday I was matched into a top 2-3 level room again finally.
Of course I had a chance for a REAL win when lap 3 the leader hung a wheel on the grass on the penultimate turn...
I was just able to slip by and held a lead at .9 or so until starting the final lap...
I didn’t hit Paddock Hill Bend perfect and he drew closer into the hairpin, which I barely overshot by about half a car width...
I exited cleanly though, and took a good line through Graham Hill Bend. I had almost a .4 gap approaching Surtees so I took the racing line...As I was about halfway to apex, in came the RS01’s nose to shove me almost totally off wide.
I managed to correct and swipe him partly off onto the left grass going up the hill, had the run, then he swerved in front of me and I boosted him out front.
I was LIVID.
There was no doubt in my mind what was going to transpire next...
He was not going to live to make it through Hawthorns...
I kamikaze full throttle him, BARELY connected...We both go off...
We are both reset...I crushed him off again at the next right hander, again both reset, then yet again at the penultimate turn, at which point the entire field had passed...
I finished last. I looked him up and his records spotless, so either he messed up OR he corrects his SR daily before he stops racing.
Whatever.
I think he saw my rank at B and being A plus didn’t want to lose so he did a calculated baby shove to move my car out of his way.
Either way I don’t care.
I’ve been around at all levels with this comeback, raced there hundreds of times, there’s no excuse for what he did. I know it was no mistake. I’ve been around..

After 12 hours I’m still 20k down from where I was...Crime doesn’t pay...

In other news this week I’ve switched up on the in game ffb settings from 4-10 to the default 4-4. I like it a lot better, a bit smoother...

I've found something odd at Monza

A few times I was driving merrily along with a 2s lead going into parabolica whistling the tune from Chitty Chitty.
Then whoosh a car flies past me like Lewis Hamilton in the rush hour.
So guessing they must have cut the last chicane?
The funny thing is:

- the penalty of 3s barely covers the time gained
- the player still gets the FL, so I had a 2.19 and Mr/Mrs Cheater posted a 2.16 with their shortcut

Anyone else come across this, Why doesn't the game reset the player doing the shortcut?

I need to check the replay

2 second penalty for taking the racing line through The Corkscrew while the Renault behind me overshoots the braking zone and taps my rear bumper and the idiot in the TT takes him clean out. Apparently I forced a car off track. Penalties are a joke in this game.
