That's an odd take... If everyone's doing it, can you really still call it cheating?

The point of setting quali times is finding the fastest way to complete a lap...even without the wallriding, people still cut corners in ways no other game would accept as clean.

It's how it is...no need to bash on the people for the game's shortcomings, come on.

It took a lot of scrolling back but now I understand what everyone's talking about and what I've missed the last few days.

I understand your logic that if all the top QT's are doing it, why not? I also understand where everybody else that is piling on top of you is coming from, as well. Let me try my take on it.

This is essentially exploiting a glitch in the game. It's not a true glitch, per se, but it essentially exploiting a problem with the game's collision physics (which we all know are problematic to begin with.) Yes, gamers will always look for every advantage they can gain, which is why most games have a clause in the TOS regarding glitch exploitation in online play. When discovered, the devs often quickly patch out the exploit and ban players that used the exploit. But we all know that PD is somewhat lazy in this regard. (Or at least not very proactive, if you want to be more generous.)

I understand feeling like you need to use it to remain competitive in this particular race, as many other people are using it and feeling like it is appropriate because PD is doing nothing to stop it. (Right now, at least.) However, taking a larger view of it, this is the type of behavior that would likely result in some sort of account penalty in most other online games. Also, given PD's history of slow reactions to online events, I wouldn't necessarily take their lack of action right now as them condoning (or at least ignoring) the activity.

Every time a dirty player banks their car off the guy ahead for braking or making a turn they are “exploiting” the physics.
Good post good points but where does that lead us?
Banning most of the playerbase isn’t in anyone’s interest.
It’s only a qualifying lap after all.
I think sometimes video games are taken much much too seriously.
From what I heard recently about some online games the environment between players in chat is pretty toxic and I’d bet violated some TOS also...
My take is it’s a video game play it if it’s fun don’t if it’s not.
There’s no play for money within GTS.
I don’t really care about what others do in a video game until all my races start getting ruined because of game rule deficiency.

It leaves me searching for an affordable PC that will run iRacing at least half decently, that’s where. 👍

At least Mario Kart is fun. It lets you throw banana peels at people.

Wreckfest is hellacious fun.....as long as you boot up Wreckfest, not GT Sport. :irked:

In seriousness, when GT Sport degraded beyond my liking last night, I went to Wreckfest. I was leading a race & got obliterated in a crossover. It looked so good that it's totally hilarious.

Yeah, I've seen that in a race this afternoon too - guy was just taking the penalty every lap though! Put him far enough ahead of me each time so that I couldn't catch him at the penalty zone.

If that driver gains so much from wallriding that the penalty doesn't negate the act, then the race is broken.

I forked over the dough after taxes.
I’m messing around with rfactor2 (drives incredible looks great, ai is actually fun to race, game user interface takes time to get used to and kinda stinks tbh.)
Last night late I was running LeMans at night in a corvette of some sort. Fabulous when I got it to work.
Automobilista 2 I also run. It is fun and much more user friendly.
I’m with you. I want good races. Right now offline against ai in these it’s way better than I expected on a pc from Costco.
It just takes a long time to get things setup though.
The ps4 is sooooooo much easier to use. But literally every aspect to pc it’s just next level.
The ffb is incredible the driving the frame rates the looks...
It sucks for me to have had to go there but GTS pen system is a train wreck

Oh dynamic weather real times amazing.
The lighting changes, weather, just awesome

I want the online racing though, and iRacing is the best place to find that aside from GTS. I don’t wanna go back to racing AI anymore, it’s just boring, even if they can keep up.

Yeah I’m new on pc so haven’t tried online. Haven’t looked at iracing since I don’t care for the subscription bit.
There’s ACC too but I couldn’t justify getting only gt3/4.
It’s not hard at all to install and run these games but there’s so much more to them.
I figure I’ll only go online once the ai bores me which it hasn’t done so far.
Like I say GTS is great but the punting is outta control.
Even z28 was saying on a recent stream he plays gts but not serious because he doesn’t like getting his competitive juices flowing with all the dirty play that’s allowed.
I will still use GTS for online. I do like it, but I’ve turned to the dark side of the force.

To me there is an opportunity here for GT to get more market share. The driving dynamics are a bit wooden but they allow a broad user base which is clever. A console is FAR easier to use than a PC and they have matching and easy online play down to an art.

I think they can leave pure "arcade" to the other titles and shift a TOUCVH, ever so slightly, to a little more serious endeavor. I'd do the following though I understand GT7 is almost done;

- Strip back car list a bit but higher ratio of race cars to fill out the classes better and have more defined classes
- Fix the penalty system, just do it, spend the money guys come on
- Dynamic weather is crucial, adds real excitement and variation to stop the dailies getting stale

That, imho, is all that is really needed, it just moves the needle a touch to keep myself, Groundfish and Pigems off a PC and on GTS without losing it's broad appeal. It can be done.

Just last week there was a car beside me and I had to remember which game I was playing... Almost did a pit maneuver in GT Sport. My wife is blowing up the field in Wreckfest. Maybe PS should include demolition derby in a future version of GT.

not particularly fast, but always prided myself on being clean. now all i see everytime i race is cars zooming around with no regard for anyone or anything. have really enjoyed the past many months until recently. now am about to reinstall rfactor 2 and start toying around with some other things. such ashame. not ready to quit yet, but alot of what i first found so fun is now gone.

Gotta say the racing in race C in Asia tonight has been appalling. Juat ram someone into the wall to stop them passing, use the brake check turbo boost to get a good run out of corners. Stick your nose in on a 1 line corner because slipstream let you catch up. It was ugly.
That's for real. I got a light brake check from a Pug VGT(me on good RS during the last lap). It's definitely worth a good 3 seconds.

Wow, this week races are out of the recycle bin, so bad from PD. From the 30 cars in N200, Clio again!

Anyway, the racing is decent in Race A. The track is perfect for door to door racing on multiple corner, I know it's no fast but it's trilling but apparently people do not see it like me. They prefer to push wide as soon as there is a car alongside them. Seriously :grumpy: I had to put my elbows out too many times .

Race C is really fun to hotlap. It feel fast and dangerous, you need to be perfect or you hit the wall. Unfortunately, the races don't flow the same way. As soon as your are around other cars, you really loose lap time, They are going to make a mistake in front of you, or you are going to make a mistake or you are going to get divebomb. I'm trying not to take it seriously and still have fun!

SPEND THE MONEY FIX THE PENS!!!
yes sir.

Right on man. All this. Slight tweaking is all it needs-more good tracks too.
I fear they will step backwards tho instead of forwards.

Been working on my slingshot technique :P

If you let the McLaren's get together you have no chance without one of the fast cars, hanging back forces them to either get side by side or to help the underdog like this. Probably my favourite move of the week, can't wait for it to be called dirty :gtpflag:.

Yes forgot the tracks.

Elkhart lake
Road Atlanta
Phillip Island
Mosport
Hockenheim
Donnington

Just to start.

Daytona Sebring Lime Rock Sonoma (with NHRA drag strip because lol)

I just had to point out that despite all my alt doom and gloom and dirty fiascos, I played the FIA once today and it was absolutely fabulous.
Clean fair looked like a real pro race just amazing.
It’s almost like all the guys I used to race dailies against at 99 now only do FIA.

You were sooo on point with that post about the game...Said it all.

My assumption was right that my qualifying time would put me near the front of the field. Unfortunately, I got a bunch 1.5 second hitting the wall penalties and that really kills my pace. I was worried about other drivers when I’m my own worst enemy. I still got top 10 finishes in both races I did tonight, and a DR gain is OK by me. Once I can keep myself out of trouble, I think top 5 or even podium finishes are in my future.

I’m also pleasantly surprised by the clean racing I’ve encountered so far. Mainly it’s been incidental contact which is going to happen. No crazy lunges from what I’ve seen. A few drivers have gotten a bump draft train going with me, so that’s cool. I didn’t think it would happen honestly.

Now I’m featured in a video called idiots of the week when I’m fighting the idiot because there’s literally no other recourse I have to stop them from punting me besides quitting the game!
Not attacking you but frankly the clip in IOTW started by you hitting him. He was on the outside going the fastest line and you punt him at the apex. That's what sets the whole thing off.
Now, I'm not going to throw the first stone because I have also done that at the very same corner.
But at least take responsibility for it.

DR S drivers hate him! Use this one simple trick to get from P2 to P1 in seconds!

Seems to be a running theme for me that switch backs are gonna save me in these moments where I almost threw a race away.

I overshot the hairpin and the guy in second took advantage and there I thought I was done for but then when we were about exit the chicane, I was given the opportunity to pull a switch back and it worked.
