This dude does this all the time. He tricked me so many times in Tsukuba (Subaru WRX N300), Nur GP (Porsche N400), Sardegna A (Porsche N400), and many others.
He's the exact type of player that screws the penalty system up. He's a versatile gamer who likes unfair play within the rules.
He did things like that in the Battlefield series as well, abusing the heavy bomber in BF1, camping spawns in BF4, etc...
Bottom line is that he's not very skilled and loses it quickly when things don't go his way.
My Q times are usually better than his and I used to fear every race where I was 1 spot ahead of him.
Now that I'm a bit more familiar with the game, he usually quits when he sees me in the lobby; I just had to retaliate hard on him a couple of times and taunt the **** outta his ass in the post-race lobby for this to happen.
Good luck to you!

I am glad there is another confirmation. I will stick with "immature" as my assessment of the player.

Alright, I’m still using the Vantage GT3, but this time my BB is +/-0, and my best time is now 1:29.317, with a further breakdown as follows:

S1 - 0:22.481
S2 - 0:39.486
S3 - 0:27.400

Is there perhaps a sector where I could be doing better?

Won't a top 10 ghost reveal this pretty quick. For me it was T1 and T2... after that the ghost gained minimally on me.

Well there's definitely been a penalty system update. After a clean FIA earlier where I gained 24 SR (but was 99 anyway) jumped into dailies and in 2 Race As lost 13 and 14 SR and dropped to SR A for the first time in ages.

Seems you get 2 seconds for hitting someone on the rear bumper even if it's because someone hit you from behind (and also got 2 secs). If you are in a pack in race A it's pretty hard to completely avoid incidental contact and door banging seems also to incur a 2 second pen but not always??

Second race i got fed up after a Spaniard ran me off the road and I spun to DFL, so that cost me 14 SR and a bunch of DR. Got some of it back in a 3rd go at Race A where the top 4 all raced very carefully and then in a Race C by getting out of the pack by pitting on lap 3, undercutting about 6 cars and running in clean air to the end.

Feels close to how it was before it became a free for all but maybe not quite as harsh?

There's a lot of time to be gained by going wide at corner entry in turns 1, 3 and 4 and maximizing the turn radius. It's a bit sketchy to do so, though, as kerbs feel a bit "sticky" and can throw you off, you just have to commit to it.

Sounds good, I think I’ve also improved a bit by moving the BB to +1, as my time is now 1:29.199, with S1 having 22.406, S2 being 39.544, and S3 being 27.249. This time also puts me within the top 800 for my region, but I don't feel like it's good enough. On the other hand, I'm now back in DR B, with a DR of over 28k, so maybe I'll place higher in the field if I enter.

Wasn't my day today. I improved my qualifying a bit to 1:28.900 and got to P4 from P10 (mostly due to some madness on the first lap) which doesn't sound too bad. But in attempts to improve my Q I lost my feeling for the track and its limits, which resulted in really poor performance in the other two races, P10 to P14 and P15 to the menu because I picked up a penalty for track limits on the first turn and also pushed someone on the third one. Was too embarrassed to continue and left. Will make a brake and maybe try some luck on my prolonged weekend.

A lot of people starting to loose SR which I guess is better than nothing. At least my SR don't drop after track limits violations, I hated that when that was a thing.

By the way, a couple of quick questions.
1. Are tires cold in the beginning of daily races A and B?
2. What's the current slip stream range? Remember it was around a second before the reduction. Now it feels like 0.5 or even 0.4 sometimes.

From last night time, not exactly what I had in mind but could've been worse :gtpflag:

I had to wait until tonight to post this response to this video. I doubt I am the first to use this when it comes to your 'skills'.

Random USB keyboard question.

For pre and post race chat I have configured a USB keyboard. I have not configured a mouse. It works until it is time to "SEND". I need to reach back for my controller and use the R2 trigger. Very awkward.

Is there a keyboard mapping for R2? Or, how do you "SEND" with the keyboard?

I did half a lap. Brakes didn't lock in a straight line, but any steering input at all will lock the inside front.

Ty.
Thought for a moment I went crazy 100 percent brake abs off no lockup lol.
When I get to play tomorrow morning I’m gonna comparison shop default weak v off abs.
Gt3/4 lockup instantly on ABS off

Brutal at rbr tonight, juat brutal. Hopeless car control, guys all over the damn road, swerving into braking zones and guys hitting me every damn corner and I mean EVERY corner.

Absolute garbage driving, utter and total garbage.
Yep. And at the end you get the penalty, not the aggressor.
In the screenshot you'll find what happened to me after one full month in B/S. After a couple of races 2 days ago, I was rated B/B. It's like a slap in the face.
And obviously I have to get back to S, trying to race clean surrounded by trash.
Thanks PD.

I am just sticking to the iRacing way and avoiding any contact whatsoever. If I see that someone is too "racey", I'll just back off and leave them miles of space. Usually they'll just pick up a track limit penalty or knock each other off the track anyways.

My DR also increased dramatically since I'm doing this :).

If you could tell me the difference between weak and default, that would be great. I almost asked the queation here the other day.

With default some of the tires grip will always be allocated for turning.
For THAT car I will let you know in a bit.
I find with weak on certain cars it reduces understeer on corner entry, with the negative being it’s more sensitive than default, and a lot more difficult to get right.
For example on default you can start turning in like a gr3 at 100 percent brake and it will still let you, and you can trail off more abruptly and you won’t lockup significantly.
With weak it puts you into more control but it’s so touchy it’s not usually worth using on most vehicles.
If you combine too much brake and turn on weak you will miss turns, also the “sweet spot” of best performance is very small, whereas default will always save you.
Default is also better than weak in dirty air.
On certain cars though, I do better on weak because it gets me better turn in.
Overall imo you could leave every car on default and be fine.
Weak makes the braking touchy and difficult, but it might not be bad to time trial that way.
Might learn to modulate brakes on turn in better.
I kinda feel like as you go default-weak-off
each change allows you even more weight shift under braking also.
I’m going to test on Arace qual right now to confirm.

I'm using the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with a TCS of 1 and BB of -5, but I cannot manage a better time than 1:29.683 - how are so many players getting below 1:29, both with the Vantage and seemingly a variety of other cars? I'm a bit frustrated because I'm trying not to incur any penalties while qualifying, but I tried entering an actual race and I started in last! (Granted, I moved up a few positions - due to a combination of one person spinning out, and a few others incurring notable penalties for ramming me off at the second turn after the first checkpoint - but still.) Even doing half a second better would be a great improvement for me, and I don't think it's the choice of car that's at fault.

I even beat the suggested time listed on my KudosPrime profile, so I'm almost tempted to believe that everyone faster than me is using some sort of exploit with the track, or something. I barely managed to get the time I did, so I cannot see how I can improve even further - though I do wonder if it has something to do with that hairpin that's right after the first checkpoint. I do usually downshift to first gear through there, but I wonder if staying in 2nd would be better, if only for the sake of traction.
I have a 29.1 in the Aston after one session, but I think a mid 28 is easily possible for me. I’m using BB0.

The keys are; turn 1 is critical. You can make or lose 3 tenths through there alone. Get wide left, stay in 3rd and hit the apex.

Don’t grab 1st anywhere. Hold second through the hairpin, but use the inside curb to help with rotation.

Last 2 turns are also important. You want to be in the throttle before you apex the last turn. If you get it right the car will rotate under acceleration and you’ll avoid the dreaded track limit penalty.

Ok.
N300 Alsace is NOT my forte clearly. After testing I managed 217.7 on default ABS.
Abs OFF is unworkable. You’ll overcook the tires, and the hairpins almost impossible.
Abs WEAK I managed 217.8 but it’s definitely less consistent, more touchy, there’s a definite EXTREMELY NARROW window of tire limit in there that can be done. I think it has a slight edge if a person was so alien they could stay in that window. I’m not.
There’s time in it, but it’s too touchy too hard to keep things in the window.
On these tires they turn to mush on corner entry on weak way easy.

So DEFAULT is definitely superior on this combo in my hands.
Interestingly you can feel it in the ffb very very clearly. Skid too much on entry with weak or off and the ffb turns to mush as if the tires are cooked.
On ABS DEFAULT the ffb is confidence inspiring and stronger and the car turns in consistently, plus it works so well at the hairpin it’s like cheating.
I’m not an n car person generally, but it definitely seems that these sport tires don’t like getting overloaded, they like the right amount of loading not over that.
If I race today I will do the A race.
I’m probably the only sim racer in the world who is unimpressed by Spa. I don’t see the attraction. Dragon Trail Seaside is way more fun lol.

Cheers

I managed a 29.4 and I feel like I'm maxed out there. But I'm trying not to let it stress me because I'm faster than the last time I did Gr3 at RBR. Which means it's coming from hours on the game because I don't feel the difference in what I'm doing all that much.

And every once in a while I have a conscious revelation or someone here says something that resonates and while any particular knowledge might only amount to less than a tenth, it all adds up.

I'm having a hard time finding my own faults on RBR and that can be pretty frustrating but hopefully something small will reveal itself the next time I try.

Thoroughly disinterested in next week's races. Likely gonna skip them altogether and just enter the Manufacturers Series round at Fuji.

Man, I hate Tsukuba so much - at least, if players are driving anything with more than ~150HP. But that said, I think racing the Miata/Roadster/etc. is perfect for Tsukuba. Slow, but fun. Though I'd be down for some other, lower-powered vehicles at Tsukuba, too, like the BMW i3, or the Fiat 500 - either the older or newer one, though the Abarth 500 may be too much.

EDIT: I also really wonder what the process is for the Daily Race design, since I heard they're actually created manually, and not by an AI or something. Perhaps some races re-appear because PD is able to see if a given ruleset (E.g. Gr.3 @ Interlagos) gets a lot of entrants? Either way, I'd really like some more interesting rulesets - like a race where you can only use either the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor or the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. I can't help but to wonder if there are certain technical limitations at hand here - or if there's something more intentional, like how each race almost seems to have a different "difficulty" to it, with Race A being the "easiest," Race B being "intermediate," and Race C being "hard," especially since the last one is both the longest and is typically the only race that has tire/fuel use enabled.

At any rate, I think the concept of Daily (or weekly) Races has a lot of potential for expansion in GT7, especially if they decide to model each race after a league in the campaign, with an event from each league being a model for the regulations of the daily/weekly race.

"See" the correct line. Brake 20 feet early. Hit that apex, and get on the gas as early as you can, but be sure you don't go wide...don't want to have to lift coming out. I did about 20 laps last night at RBR. A few in the Supra...not really working for me here. Hopped in the Lambo and got down to a 29.1. I was over driving the car, sliding into some corners etc. I followed the top ghost in my region, actually got overlap in T1, but he got a better drive. Finally I decided to back off my brake points and try to just be as smooth as possible. Did a 28.3, and I'm done for the night

I am enjoying A race, but this last one had a couple real peaches. The grumpy Canadian certainly was drinking his own bath water, ramming as many as possible.
I didn’t get a chance to off him.
Clearly he needs to get help.
Captain_Grump, or DelRacingGrumpy?
Captain is normally nice, but the whole DelRacing family gets knocked off the track when I see them.
I gave them tons of 2nd chances. No more. :mischievous:
