Captain_Grump, or DelRacingGrumpy?

Captain_Grump, or DelRacingGrumpy?
Captain is normally nice, but the whole DelRacing family gets knocked off the track when I see them.
I gave them tons of 2nd chances. No more. :mischievous:

The second, and other random idiots.
You know the last uphill left before you come around the weird downhill esses to the start finish straight?
This one guy had my inside and rammed myself and himself into the outside wall. He was outta control dirty.
No pen given.
I’m still racing but these last two I’ve had bad luck.
The penalties aren’t triggered. I’m not fast enough in this Fugu mess to really inflict maximum damage lmao

I'm at 87. One more clean race, and I'll be there with you. 👍

The del family caused multiple problems.
I hit him he got all hurt.
He’s like I’ll post the replay. Nobody cares lol. Changes nothing.
I’d be more embarrassed at failing to properly take that guy down.
I have 3 replays of him taking out friends AND trashing them in chat.
They are known to be friendly.
Lmao
Race A game on

Random USB keyboard question.

For pre and post race chat I have configured a USB keyboard. I have not configured a mouse. It works until it is time to "SEND". I need to reach back for my controller and use the R2 trigger. Very awkward.

Is there a keyboard mapping for R2? Or, how do you "SEND" with the keyboard?
I've got one wired up, when you hit enter to exit the typing of the chat you can press the right arrow on the keyboard and it will go to the send button on screen. Then you can hit enter.
A quick way to test it is to just start a lobby and type to yourself once or twice.

I dipped my toe into the daily race at Spa for the first time and it's just no fun anymore. I love Gr.1 as Spa and last time had a great run with a win and goodclean racing and I know every line but when you get a run on someone or they have a penalty they just do anything to stop you passing, one guy ran wide and I was straight past and he spent the next lap trying to run me off the track. I set my fast lap just as the matching started so only had the slower time which put me in the pack but don't think it would have made any difference. I will go again tomorrow but if this is what GTS is serving up now I may be done, FIA race was not much better yesterday, people know what they can get away with now and even people who may have always been clean are now dishing it out as not much choice from what I can see.

Yeah the penalty system still sucks.
I get shoved off punted and spun and the perps get nothing but when I punt it’s sr down penalty central.
This games so broken in some ways.
I revenge-BOOM A SR.
Nevermind the jerks that keep hitting me get crb after crb.
It’s literally funny.
I’m gonna maybe try for crb at Spa maybe sit in the pits or something.
This game can really piss you off when it gets the safety rating so do wrong in such broken fashion

Excellent... I don't think I would have thought of that.

Just did the 32nd clean race but thought I would lose it there. One imbecile thought the way to overtake was to use me instead of his own brakes and smashed into my rear in the slow right hander before the uphill section at Alsace. I flew into the grass and barrier but fortunately for me the penalty system got that one correct and I kept the CRB. A measly two sec penalty to the aggressor but whatever, just happy to keep the streak.

It feels like people are starting understand that the pens are tougher. I saw many 1.0s pens for pens for contact. I got one at the end of the Kemmel straight for a rear tap. It is still a bit on the aggressive side but it rates a 9 out of 10 compared to the last few months.

In Gr.1 most folks also know that any contact is lose-lose. It leads to more respectful driving.

Hang in there.

I am steadily losing DR each time I play, which is a bit deflating in all honesty. From the last set of races I had, I lost a bit (12) of SR as well. Not driving as fast as I want either. Makes me feel like a bit of a fraud sometimes.

Race C is where I belong, though , so that's what I did. I only have a handful of Gr.1s, but didn't want to try the meta cars.
The Audi VGT is an absolute meme car. It has absolutely no top end, but gives you a free overtake on the first corner just because of how powerful the hybrid is. Horrible everywhere else. Going to have to see how that compares to the McLaren someday. L750R and N 2025 didn't cause any problems.

In the end, I chose a more conventional car (TS030) and it all went pretty badly. It didn't have the pulling power of the newer cars, so you could make an overtake one corner and lose it on the same corner exit due to nothing but the hybrid. Still, It does have enough power to eat up the rears slightly faster than the front.

Legitimately one of the most annoying races I had, ever.

Its not all doom and gloom though. The racing was pretty clean from the drivers I had to face-off with minimal penalties (except lap 4 - pretty unlucky with the turn of events).

Then there's me who almost couldn't stop hotlapping Spa just now  I do think it's a lot better in high downforce cars though, not that it's bad in Gr.3 etc.

It's probably one of those tracks better experienced in real life with all the elevation change

There are movies based on a true story and ones that are fiction. The fiction ones are normally better but the true story ones *REALLY* happened.

And so it is with Spa. It is real. I have watched the F1 grand prix for the last 20 years-ish. The drivers praise it. Spa represents royalty. It is relatable. And PD has done a great job with their fictional circuits - kudos.

My favorite combo is the Pouhon (Double Gauche) plus Les Fagnes section.

The classic is Eau Rouge but the game, nor TV, does it justice. The incline is 17% and it rises 41m. They are driving the cars though a river bed.

I’m kinda that way with Catalunya.
I love that final sector everyone hates lol
There’s big oppurtunities in that sector.

Race A...My review...It’s no Goodwood, definitely...Basically there’s been a litany of racers there, who, despite the fact they qualified slow, believe they suddenly gained the ability to outbrake everyone into any turn by entering the race...
It’s a good combination...
Your experience is dependent on those around you.
The pen system allows for some racing still...
I will rate A race a solid 6.6 out of ten.

Edit Spa shma. Gran Turismos rendition is really good, but I’d rather race almost anywhere else.
A spa is for happy endings, not racing digital cars!

If you could tell me the difference between weak and default, that would be great. I almost asked the queation here the other day.
With default some of the tires grip will always be allocated for turning. I find with weak on certain cars it reduces understeer on corner entry, with the negative being it’s more sensitive than default, and a lot more difficult to get right.

Very much like the ABS of a real car. ABS was designed to allow for more control in a full braking situation. It's easy to see that a tire sliding will incur more friction & (theoretically) stop sooner. But ABS was designed to allow for better ability to turn by not allowing for full lockup. I feel like the weak setup allows for max allowable ABS & braking effort. When I first started playing, everything was on default. So default ABS, brake balance & TCS were all in effect. It took me so long to win that first race. But as I got more practice, I learned to get faster by adjusting those parameters. I've clearly seen myself flying past my turn-in point at tracks, but I also see that my braking point was wrong or I went past it & braked too late.

I have a 29.1 in the Aston after one session, but I think a mid 28 is easily possible for me. I’m using BB0.

The keys are; turn 1 is critical. You can make or lose 3 tenths through there alone. Get wide left, stay in 3rd and hit the apex.

Don’t grab 1st anywhere. Hold second through the hairpin, but use the inside curb to help with rotation.

Last 2 turns are also important. You want to be in the throttle before you apex the last turn. If you get it right the car will rotate under acceleration and you’ll avoid the dreaded track limit penalty.

Tips worth trying. If you get Turn 1 correct, you'll get the car turned in, right side tires on the yellow curb & nowhere close to the left side track limits. I make the mistake here of getting down to 2nd gear. As for the hairpin, I'm guilty as sin for going all the way down to 1st. :banghead:

And speaking of RBR, let's take a live look at the racing going on there.

I'd say DTM had the best angle to represent the incline

I wouldn't mind the last sector if it wasn't for that chicane, especially as it used to be a double fast right hander

I’m tired of people hitting others under braking.
Is it so hard to push a button for crying out loud?
Enter race. Get hit. Rinse. Repeat.
People aren’t this stupid it’s the pen system letting them get away with it.
This game is headed on a...

Couple of nights ago I wrote how I made a few errors and was also hit a bazillion times and my SR tumbled. Tonight I have won 4 or 5 races as I recover, which is a bit unfair. It feels like SR is a bit too easy to lose and too hard to gain back in race B, its a slow slog. Have not had another car near me all night and gained only 20 points.
