Question:

Like you I have seen other make the statement after "... and then I made a no QT run". By that I understand you have removed your QT time so that you can run from the back. How do you delete the QT time? Or, are you using an alt where no QT has been set.

I have started doing some of those no QT runs on an alt to experiment and get the feel for the race dynamics.
I just don't qualify. I have to admit, though, that I often screw up and accidently set a time before a race. I don't mind as much if it's late in the week, or a combo I don't like much, but I hate if I do it on a good combo. It's great for racecraft, especially if you try to stay clean and take your time. I remember watching a replay of one of @Sven Jurgens races from the back, and it amazed me that he could be off the gas and coasting so often, yet still make passes with ease. Been doing it ever since. I think I'm up to 54 wins on my alt, and I never purposely qualify unless I already blew it and set a time.

A week of absolute no tracks I feel comfortable with.. Ohh well thankfully last week had a Race C that was awesome.

There is something about Group One cars on a racing track that actually allows the cars to stretch their legs and has plenty of space to race on. It's just more fun than fiddling around on slow twisty tracks where there is hardly room for just one car.

I had plenty of great races and even got to the podium a few times. The most fun was not a podium but this one where I accidentally tapped another car and had to do the gentleman thing and wait for the other car to return to the track.

Losing lots of places but getting to race instead of just keeping a position up in the field was fun, enjoy..

Lmao

I am in my mid-forties, I have a responsible job and a mortgage, yet 'ride the sausage' still makes me laugh way more than it should!

Thanks for the guides @Tidgney
That doesn't stop, I am 57 and still does it.

Nice, but I'm wincing at the use of the pitlane exit.
Several times yesterday I saw the other version of abusing the pit exit lane, people flying out of pit and straight to the race line, in total disregard of others race.
I truly hope PD enforce the lines in GT7

I thought for sure the straightaway on race A was wide enough for 3 cars, and the only open spot was on the right. Nope... abrupt stop and penalty at the pit sign. I'm skipping GT this week for Wreckfest. I'm around level 74 right now.

What's the Q times for Race B like this week? I logged on briefly yesterday evening and just ran a bunch of laps in the Genesis and R8 to try challenge a mate who's logged a 1:44:4XX in the Beetle. Managed a 1:45:7XX in the R8 and was on track for a 1:44 but threw it away like a fool into the last chicane and didn't have time to try again. Genesis felt stable and dependable as always, but I couldn't get any better than a 1:45:8, but 4 laps within 0.2s of each other, so might be my go-to for the race (if I get the chance to get stuck in for a few races!).

EDIT: Anyone using GTBlade finding it a bit buggy this week? I've got no Q time on my main account, despite running Q laps there last night, and a Q time on my alt, even though I haven't used my alt this week. Checked a friend's times and it's only giving 1200 times for Race B... ?

Is anyone else having an issue with GTBlade, for checking their weekly race Qualy time?
My time appears to be right for Race C as I spent just a few mins on a time trial yesterday, but 11156 people have set a time, not 1348. So the percentages are wrong. Also I haven’t set a time for Race B. It says I set a time ~15s quicker than the current P1 time, but that still only puts me 38% overall. Hmmmm

Got a TOM'S SC430 for DWG. Last to 5th. Would have been 3rd, but an earlybird brakes and an out of shaper caused me time and a separate 2 seconds penalty.

Ran to Lap 8 on RH. Beat an RC F in acceleration(me on worn RM, the RC F on worse RM) to the line by .003 seconds.

I posted something to this effect a couple posts before yours. Something has gone a bit funky, methinks.

14/16 to 4th and 1.5 seconds behind 3rd.

The two GT-Rs behind me slow for T1, so we avoid the cars ahead making contact. It's like from then on, let's see if we can have four cars occupy the same space in every corner!
No penalties fo me this time.

Holy snaps! Laps 1-3, these dudes seeing a gap, as invitation to put their car there. I mean, you do know there is a corner coming up. Like, at the end of the corner, there requires braking. Forget saving tyres, save yourself to survive til the end.

Anyway, as cars pit Lap4 for RH(really?), I had the track to myself. Moved up to P2, as everyone else pit Lap 7. The leader came out 8 seconds ahead of me.

I pit even later this time. Lap 9 and I was purple in the first two sectors. On RH.
Got FL on my next full lap. Caught 4th & 5th after they tangled. Was catching them on my super fresh rubber.
Knocked nearly 2 seconds off P3, on the final lap. I'm done.

Anyone got any ideas as to why we are not running the GT version of Fuji, since we are in GT cars? It would be nice not to deal with that chicane. Having said that, the final corner is my biggest problem - I just cannot find a line there that lets me get on the power in reasonable time.

I've set a time on all 3 races and it is only showing me my DR graph and telling me to set a time. I have dammit! :banghead:

I ran two races at the Catalunya daily race last night and they were Jekyll and Hyde.
First one I started 11th, lovely clean race with every driver I came across, great two lap battle with one in particular. Ended up 6th.
Second one I was starting 6th, in a completely different lobby. Barged out the way T1, Barged/punted three times on lap 2, lost my rag and quit at the end of the lap while running DFL.

My second ever rage quit, I shouldn't play GT while tired and grumpy!

I'm going to give Fuji a go tonight but I can't say I'm overly excited about this week's races, that goes for the FIA races too.

I know what you mean, I had 3 straight races where I somehow got penalties from all the barging and dropped me to B SR, I would say only 1 am I partly at fault (though I had one where I had penalty, gone out of shape a bit in the corner before we serve it, so didn't know exactly where traffic was and I somehow "forced" collision when I de-ghosted). Then lo and behold, I had a clean race there, ironically. Not that people were necessarily clean, but they barged themselves out of the way and the top 4 was racing very cordially.

Race A: I regret ALWAYS using the 997. Not used to the 993 at all. @BenRod had it right all along!

Hey, thanks!

To me, the only real advantage (albeit a huge one) the 997 has is rear stability.

The CS is definitely not for everyone... "acquired taste", maybe?
But the brakes, oh the brakes, on this car ARE PURE MAGIC!!!

Currently qualified at 1:03.4 (I think).
ABS weak, TCS 0, BB 0
DS4 default configuration - sticks, L2/R2 for shifting - the way God, er Kaz, intended.

What do you do?

You just came around Panasonic and are now leveled on the final straight heading for the finish line. You are in front of a BMW who is somewhat faster than you but with the slipstream can/will pass you before the finish line. As they approach (fast) do you move to stay in front or let him by?

I saw the pass coming, considered it blocking if I moved and just stayed my line as they passed. 2nd place, was I wrong?

Ahh sorry, should have looked back then shouldn't I!
It appears to be working now though for me! :)
All good!

Mine still isn't working. I've got a Tsukuba Q time but I've not been there this week. Catalunya and FIA times are showing now though.

I had the case happening to me on Saturday in Nations, last lap, last turn, an R18 (hybrid) close behind and me in a non-hybrid Peugeot. I knew I didn't stand a chance even though the finish line at Spa is really close to the exit of that last chicane.

I chose to keep my line on the right side of the track so the guy behind would have to move to the left (and maybe do a mistake during oversteering). Well, he decided to barge his way through on the right, hitting my door and the wall in the process but still finished ahead of me...

In your case, in a long drag race, I think you "could" slightly move to the other side of the track to break the tow a little, but you should always do it in a foreseeable way and leave space.

That said, I know many drivers would behave differently in that kind of situation so hats off to you, that's sportsmanship !

Is this last lap? You are allowed one move. By doing that at the right time you can break his slip for a bit and force him to move around you. This could well gain you the split second you need to finish ahead. But obviously it is in the timing.

...considered it blocking if I moved and just stayed my line as they passed...
"Blocking" is okay if it's a one-move thing. Swerving side to side down the straight to stay in front is another thing. It's also very easy to get it wrong and come off as a bit of an a-hole. I personally would have tried to keep my car in front by anticipating the overtake and moving - slowly - towards that space they were about to try to occupy before they make the move, whilst retaining enough space for them to make an alternative move if they still have the speed. They'd then have the option of sticking with you and pulling out at the last moment or sticking with their line and making the move without slipstream.

EDIT: This only really applies when we're talking about the run to the finish line - you gotta hold that position fairly but surely.
