Lord, have us mercy.

That's that dodgy lower DR shield I think. Frustrating as it seems to encourage random taps for disaster penalties. Got one in my FIA race at Spa after we slowed down close in the bus stop and had the most minor tap, didnt even wiggle their car. But I got 2 seconds for knocking them off track.

And the lag and general crazy driving in that lobby was wild as well.

The seas were just parting. At the start, the players that chase the tow, for a pass at T1, it's too early. Yeah, we only get 5 laps, but c'mon. That's an automatic slow everyone down, as the squeeze is on between the curbs.

About that lag, I'm forever getting out the way if I've got one bar. Can't possibly think nothing is going to happen by continuing to race with that.

Currently enjoying the feeling of a rare victory and a personal DR high after a further three attemps at Race C this morning. Went from 4th to 2nd to 1st in those races.

Admittedly, I was a bit lucky in that two of the drivers that would‘ve started ahead of me in my final attempt disconnected, so I started in 2nd behind a 908. Was already ahead before La Source and the 908 was gobbled up by all the other Hybrids.

After the start, I had to deal with a S/M runner and another driver who‘d started on Mediums, but the latter crashed themselves out of contention during our three-way TS050 fight. Pitted on Lap 4 a second behind to execute a two-lap undercut that included the FL and was never troubled again.

All in all, I‘ll take it!

Edit: Took a picture.

The problem of setting unusually fast lap (for me) at lower B DR for Race B tonight, is that I am on pole position often (or top 3) and the pressure on turn 1 is immense, I went from 1.30 flat to 1.29.5 in a freak lap, which turned out wasn't a freak lap as I suddenly gained half a second race pace consistently too. Got 3 wins from it though, but man oh man, I feel like I was one of those drivers with out of place DR as I was totally sprinting away from the competition, after lapping a high 1.29 for lap 2 I can canter at the mid 1.30s and build a 5 second win with ease. I definitely faster with this race track relative to my skill level, but my heart will be pleased that is the next week of Daily Races again so I can slide back to mediocrity so it won't need to pump so hard.

Am doing it in the Mustang, which I don't see too many people use. It is definitely a good compromise between torque power and stability, as with it, I only really have a couple of hairy moments whereas there are races with people using other cars lapping faster but lower driveability means they run into issue in the race; I see a lot of Huracan that don't end up near where they started up front. You get slightly off at the last few corners and you easily can rack up a second penalty/loose a lot of time, so don't have to be big incidents.

Though the penalty seems to have got quite harsh in places. I went from 99 to 76 in SR in once race through pretty innocuous incidents, one from not expecting car in front to just go across the entirety of turn 1 (2 sec Pen) which left me nowhere to go but back of them, who subsequently punted me off turn 2 with no penalty, and then a couple of very minor taps (2 x 1 sec Pen) from slightly misjudging the speed of cars who are fighting as well as not as fast on this track and car.

Alsace in the FUGU is totally underrated.
At Alsace basically every corner has multiple lines. It’s crossover heaven.
Fantastic flow, it’s a great track. The banked turn is a little weird but presents a good challenge and has multiple lines available.
The race being a one make is highly competitive.
Really, for racecraft, A race here teaches a ton.
A race in general is not utilized enough by the playerbase on NA.
Spa may be famous. Spa may have an ok flow to some parts, albeit ruined by a couple pointless corners, but Spa is a totally different type of track to race.
Through the turns it’s follow the leader.
Online, you have tons of specialists who join GTS just for Spa and the rest of their gaming career is spent in AC in gt3 lobbies at Spa.
You got C drivers running 56 come on man.
Spa is the most overrated track in sim racing.
It’s basically follow the leader through the twisters and divebomb the bus stop, turn 1, the end of kennel, I dunno. I like that follow the leader stuff, but it’s not like dicing like on A race.
A grid start is most fun, but this race is a roller.
I just gotta wonder why. Why do people like Spa soooo much?
Alsace makes for waay more options in a one make line wise and way more fun racing.
Change my mind lol

When A race has good combos I am going to start focusing on it more.
There’s some races with banging yes, but there’s also a lot of good racing to be had.
On NA everyone tends to pile into lobbies with the faster cars.
The street cars need some more love.

I love street cars. Fugu is borderline race car though.
But I'll give A a shot as soon as I have restored my SR.

I just did a race C because I wanted to get from 87 to 99 SR, but an Audi blasted by me before the busstop and in the braking zone I gave him a very small tap, that none of us was affected by, but I got SR down and 1 sec penalty, so I finished at 90 SR.

Met a guy in race though. Clearly faster than me, he was a few spots ahead at start, p4 I think, while I was 8 at start.
On the last lap I came close to him going up Kemmel, he then wanted to go inside, smart defensive move, but had a fishtail so I got by.
Immediately he tried to dive inside at Malmedy but I followed the racing line and closed the door, leaving him behind while he was flashing his lights. Now, I was in the Toyota hybrid, he was in the Audi.
So any guess what happened at busstop??
Yep, hard ram from behind that threw me all up in the run-off.
He got 1 second for that, same as I got for the inconsequential tap before. I still made it in as p4 and him as p5, he was 5 seconds behind me with the pen, but still called me names and told me I would have no chance without the penalty.

Spoiled kid is my guess. At least a very bad temper. I can understand the red mist if someone actually has run you off, but in this case it was his own mistake that cost him one spot.
Apparently p4 is a place to kill for....

Pathetic. I took this ram just now. Notice the lack of brake lights in the braking zone? The game should issue a BIG sr down and penalty for it.

A race went dirty this morning. I had several clean fine fun races, then diving and ramming ensued.
Maybe the lack of A DR entrants had a lot to do with it.
If you look at some of the SR graphs also of players who were always low then recently became 99, you kind of have to wonder...
What happens when said player gets matched with some A A plus 99 SR and they make contact and then the A players shove them aside or off.

The effect is it’s this players first experience around higher rank, they commit big errors, and get crushed...
Their game experience is ALWAYS dirty.
They have no idea why they got hit.
Lower SR has always been chaos. So they go back and get hit.
They don’t learn anything by it. They get into a higher room, do the same thing and get destroyed.
Really how are they supposed to ever learn?
All they know is bumper cars.

The next game needs to address this somehow imo.

I had another good race with GR.1 at Spa where I started 7th and finish 4th. Engaging in a four way battle with different types of cars made for a action pack race. No dirty move except maybe one where a Audi overshoot is braking for Les Combes and when he rejoins, he's targeting the racing line and me. I put two wheels on the grass and keep the throttle, on the right hander before Bruxelles we are side by side and I'm well aware his there, I turn in tight but he turn in on me like I wasn't there and bounce back in the sand. Sorry not sorry.

Gr1 at Spa is a really fun race. Feels like a proper race, not an arcade game. Wasn’t paying attention to dailies but was glad to see it after running a few FIA races last night, because I couldn’t get enough. MOAR AERO! MORE!

So I've been practicing for Race B the entire week with the Aston Martin. I registered lap times between 1:30 and 1:29.6xx

20 minutes ago I took a beer decided to do some more qualifying (I'm a bit drunk) and guess what....
1st lap with cold tires, I got my best time 1:29.437, with the same car.

I don't even know how to replicate it

I can't find the post but somebody said the Fugo Z is more like a race car... It's more like a 2,400 lb car towing a 5,000 lb trailer that fishtails around corners with Sport Hard tires. Put some sticky soft rubber on it and it makes a good slalom car.

The FUGU is good just steer it very very slowly and gently. :)

So I entered C race.
I was challenging the R18 for second and get blocked on Kemmel.
Plus he was over taking turn 1 very slyly to disrupt my momentum and maximize his hybrid power.
The blocking on the straight got to me.
It’s a daily C we are both similar DR...
WHY?
You know I’m coming past on the straight.
Don’t drive like a douche and go middle track and cut in front of me there whichever way I try to go.
Learn to drive.
Just annoying and lame.
Congratulations you got second!
People are going to be people. That is to say this is racing and you gotta deal with it.
I really don’t care in fact I wish him well!
Unfortunately for him the quilt order queue is full well into next summer, already!

@RacingGrandpa
That slob that punted you is probably in his mothers basement and she’s outside yelling at him to get a job!

Last lap, last turn punt? How childish!

I like the big red sign telling you to brake before Eau Rouge Raidillon. As if! ;)

I was very happy to see that guy got nothing out of his punt, though. Deserves an insta-block, although the attempt was actually kind of impressive. Probably had lots of practice.

License and same penalties/consequences for all drivers would go a long way. Then a message on load screen with "Race clean! Don't make yourself look bad!" Every time you load into a race.
And after a SR drop of 25 or more in one race a new license test.

Communication!

At the end of the race communicate to me. Give me a scorecard and tell me what I did badly and how many SR and DR I gained and lost and why. I mean you are the computer you know how you graded me. DR and SR are probably the two most important measures in the game and on this board we spend half our time trying to figure it out.

Tell me those two rear-end 1.0s pen were -10 SR down - each time!
Tell me that I got +13 SR just for racing.
Tell me that I netted -7 SR.
Tell me that I gained 157 DR points because I came 4th out or 14 players.

And stop hiding those values between S/A+/A/B/C/D/E scales that kinda look the same but aren't. It just confuses the game? Why does S come before A? Why does one have a A+ but the other one does not?

I swear that many players just do not understand the correlation between their poor behavior and how they get matched into the next race. They do not understand how they harm themselves. The game should at least explain that.

I recall a game SOCOM II where at the end of each mission the assignment officer would grade you and admonish your behavior. You knew what you did wrong!

Perfect reason for an alt account this week. Wanted to jump into Race C’s at Spa, knew I wouldn’t be scoring DR but didn’t care, just wanted to race. Cost me a few thousand, knowingly and without hope for anything different, but was just a lot of fun to race. And didn’t impact my FIA standings or potential.

did a couple of b races earlier this evening. almost everyone was a c with me being a d. curious how that happens? lack of racers on a sunday evening? and didn't notice the c's being particularly better behaved than the upper d's, but they were consistently quicker.

Lol 2 A races twice rammed off by this genius.

Thanks buddy :)
Hold down x. WOW
I love entering a turn side by side only to be shoved off. The exact thing the sportsmanship video tells us NOT to do.
Great driving buddy. It takes an awful lot of skill to hold down the x button until the car next to you vanishes. Smh
I really don’t care in fact I wish him well.
No quilt though, I am swamped already.

EDIT
Thankfully the system worked. The player lost sr enough to be removed, and I was able to enjoy trying to catch a couple of the fastest guys on the server! It was fun.
Unfortunately @sturk0167 had finished his racing for the night. I never got to try to catch him in the others after being mercilessly rammed by that idiot.
Oh well I broke 17 and held fastest lap a minute before it was shattered by the alien in second.
Great racing Sturk. I might have had a chance to chase you guys up there if I hadn’t been rammed turn 1...

Got to see you at Spa today.

My obsession over the Audi R18 continues. Spent the week mastering harvesting.

I am now at the "crossover point". I am faster when harvesting than traditional full-throttle and full-brake. In my last race I maintained a charge for the whole race. My best race time is 20:40 so I am not setting the world on fire but there are still gains to be made.

Just had a couple of race C as a lark. First race I forgot how long the race was and pitted to switch from Hards to Mediums at the end of lap 5. That was a slightly long 8 laps, but I was mostly moving up until the last couple of laps where I just couldn't get launch out of the first al 2 corners. But it was mostly clean affair. People were struggling enough to control the cars and were spinning off everywhere.

2nd race was messy. I tapped the guy in front twice on lap 1. Both reasonably hard, but both them braking earlier than I thought. I got a 1 second for one of them and dropped to the back. A friendly gave accidentally rammed me into the chicane lap 2 and gave the spot back, same as my mistakes. Then I started pushing to climb through the field from p18 and saw @D_Dragline recovering from something. Not sure what happened. People were beating and banging. Couple of pains and I pit end of lap 6 as I am on the back of a huge pack.
Get a couple of clean fast laps in and now battling with sights on a top 10. Last 3 laps peoples tires give out and they just cant handle getting up back section so I keep moving up. Fought home to nab p8. Looked like @D_Dragline and another old GTP hand got caught in some messy stuff.

I think I'll call it. Not a huge fan of the race but it went better than expected. Good to see friendly faces out there as well.

My race started really well, was up to p5 and all over the group of 3 just in front, but on lap 3 I got punted off in the second last turn. Punter got a 2 second pen and I dropped to p9. Thought he might have just braked too late but no sign of giving back a place. I caught him after he served his penalty on the next lap and, with half a length lead, held the outside into turn 1. I gave him plenty of room and didn’t attempt to hit the apex. He just decided the quickest way around was to push me off so he could access the outside kerb. I hit the astroturf and spun.

No apology or acknowledgment after the race. Hence the less than polite message.
