Practice, first off. But I'm sure you do that already. Otherwise, do like some of us have done before: qualify in one car & race in a different one. Do just a qualifying session until you get a time you're happy with. Then, enter a race in the car you want. Still start in the top 3 & win away.
This. It's the only way to get a strong start on many Gr.4 races. On many daily races, TBH. I personally always try my favourite cars first, and do everything I can to extract the most time possible out of them for a strong Q position, but often end up resorting to the META for the best lap time I can get, but then race the car/s I feel will be strongest in the race (not always the META).

Decided to stick with the RCZ since you've made such a fetching livery for it, mate

Lost the pole to a punt off after the big hairpin, and went onto have another couple of top 5 battles but edged out each time. Really have to give as good as you get in this one or you won't keep up, it's disappointing and not a lot of fun to be honest though I do enjoy driving the track itself.

Love it! Always makes my day to see someone using my liveries!!

My car of choice for this one is the Megane. I always default to it when there's an FF-biased event. Unsure why, but I always feel most at home in it (compared to the Scirocco, RCZ and TT).

Gr.3 seems like a lot of car for Dragon Trail Gardens. I can see the 4-part segmented turn being a big problem.

Good racing from the back at Autopolis. A couple of dirty here and there who thinks they can do want they want without any retaliation from the others. Funny! Their races never ends well. Even if I got screwed, I still finish ahead of them cause someone somewhere deal with them properly.

One of them locked me on the outside for the first corner. He let me comes alongside him but just as I came on the brake, he slams me on the grass. 2 or 3 laps later there is a moshpit of cars in front of me and I repass him while he was off track.

Here is the good part of the week.

The last overtake in the video is the best one. The other guy had dirty tires and I was catching him fast in the techy section. Fast thinking he is slow and there is a chance he go wide, I went far and cut back in.

Felt gooood!

Rarely have I resorted to META. I try my favorites, aka, cars I would use in race. Then to lesser used favorites. Then META. It depends on how rowdy the races are as to why car I decide to qualify in. But never FWD Gr. 4 cars.

It's not too bad if you know your car. ;)

Apologies if there’s a couple that have already been featured but I’m pretty sure that if they have it was a long, long time ago and they’re overdue for a return presence. I do remember the RCZ Road Car for example but that was 2018 or so. Some additions could probably be made but without spending way too many hours on this, this is a list I came up with to spice up race A.

Totally agree mate, and wish they'd let us choose what we want in the style of the single player campaign to face a variety of cars and make it a bit more fun, sure there'd be a meta but for the points on offer, enough people would just enjoy using their faves to make it interesting.

Yeah, what's the point of having 500 cars in a game if you only features the same 15-20 cars for 4 years. What surprise me the most is they gave us brand new car in various update and they never feature those new toys in Daily Race A. When you get new stuff, you want to play with them.

I got punted at turn 2 on lap 2, last night on the same track. Two idiots came flying through and hit me, causing me to hit the person who was on my left. I was on the inside, with the other car on the outside. We were doing some good racing between us, then these 2 morons come bashing through. Neither 1 of them got a penalty. We both wound up off the track. One of them ran wide later in the lap (at the hairpin at the bottom of the hill) and I was able to pass him. Later, he decided to play bumper cars and started running everyone (including me) wide at every turn. He never got a penalty except for when he cut a corner just a bit. But for bashing/banging/hitting other driver? Nope!

I also had an issue with a Viper driver the day before. He was playing bumper cars, too. And I mean he was swerving wildly all over the track to keep people from passing him. If someone happened to be beside him, they wound up off the track. I set him up by going to the outside coming up to the hairpin, then hit the brakes early. He swerved bigly, missed his mark (me), and wound up way off the track against the wall. I laughed when I looked back and saw him be passed by 5 other drivers. This all happened on the last lap so he didn't have time to regain any positions.

I don't want to upset any of you, cause i hated those bad drivers, who punt others out, no matter what. But, since at least, for the last 3 weeks, the ghosting worked so well for me. And this means, saving me in at least 2 corners per lap -each race. Furthermore, we all know their 'modus operandi' by know, so we , as wrong as it sounds, have to prepare for the villain, pretend like it's a pro-challenge in the race, to outbreak them, than -optional- punt their behinds, for the extra expressive "fu*n off you sneaky little ...." . Wwell I know, that's not how you make big DR , but by leaving out many races, because of frustration, you won't either.
Back to the ghosting, so sweet, everyone around sees, what the driver/driveres (lol jk) planned to do you, so they also become aware and the real mental cases will be known by their exact name. "how do you fetch a troll?"
"you must call him by his real name" south parksouthpark.png

Concerning race B , gr.4 cars, - I can't get a decent qualifying time, even though, I felt like I have 'the flow' ,this is a good lap, damn girl, in about 30sec. your name will be mumbled by the Elite, Mr. Gran Turismo will eventually visit or at least call, ...I pass the line ...1:29xxx. blushing nevermind.
than , same car, starting lap 3 - 1:27.7xx, lap 4 - 1:26.9xx (and I didn't even had the fasted lap) , and I didn't have so. to drag me on every straight.
never had this vast difference between quali and race.
3 o'clock Sunday morning shout outs from the black forest, good time for racing, just like any other time.

1st race ("B"), was decent. I started 13th, finished 8th. No penalties, no punts, just some good clean racing.

2nd race, "B", again, not so much. I got punted twice. I got hit by 1 driver, pushed wide at turn 2, and got passed. I then got hit again at the same spot on the next lap by the guy who was behind me after I got hit and was passed. I take the inside line at that turn. But these 2 a-holes decided they wanted the inside line and hit me out of the way. I got hit, again, and was passed by 2 more drivers later on the next lap. I started 9th, finished 13th. Somehow, I got a clean race award (1st race, as well) for that race. I don't see how as I ran off the track twice. I've had races where I never left track, had very, very minor incidental contact with another driver and didn't get a clean race award. So I've learned to not even worry about that; I just try to race as clean as I can and make as few mistakes as I can. All while trying not to get sent into the sand. That doesn't always happen, though.

3rd race was good. I started 4th, finished 4th. I was close to the leaders, but a small mistake on the final lap caused me to lose a bit of time and they were able to pull away. But I'll take 4th vs a position lower.

Gr 2 cars are more than just faster Gr 3 cars. They have much higher downforce and respond better to partial braking vs full braking. Try entering some corners with light braking and feel yourself go around the corners faster. That leads to a faster exit and fast times.

Long straights still need full braking but then gradually lift off as you are approaching the apex. This is difficult and takes practice.

Watch some of the top 10 lapper and how they are applying the brakes.

It is harder than Gr 3 and Gr 4. It is natural that your relative time will be further off the standard in this class.
This was excellent advice. Got in an extended session today and put down a 1:36.739, with optimal 1:36.3xx. I can't quite manage what the top 10 are doing, but I think I got the gist of trail braking and trusting the downforce.

Was curious what that would give me as starting position in a race and was in at #2 in a D/C/B mixed lobby. Fumbled a couple spots due to not having practiced tire wear and finished a respectable 4th. No complaint from me.

And with that I think I am done with this week. @_@

During a lobby race I ran the other day I discovered something, maybe it's known and I didn't know until I saw it.
Do you realize that the little diamond marker above the fuel line when you are in the pits during a race will show you the minimum level of fuel you need to complete the race. As in picture below.
20211114_014058.jpg When I refueled during the race I stopped at the diamond and i wound up with just enough gas to complete the race, less than .3 lap left in tank.
No more guessing on how much to put in...

Yep, good point, not everyone knows that indeed. You could also use the "laps left" indicator below the bar in the middle, but it's easy to miscalculate in the heat of the race.

Be careful though, this info is based on the way you've been driving before the pit stop. That means, if you were trying to save fuel (by short-shifting or using a higher fuel map), and you fill up just at the diamond marker, you'll need to drive the same way until the end.
If you want to be more agressive for the last stint, fill up a bit more :)

Today just wasn't a good day, for me. My 1st 2 races were mired with pushing and shoving. I started 6th in both races. And in both races, I finished 13th. It just doesn't do anything to be a respectable driver. Then my DR/SR suffers and I can't climb to a lobby with potentially better-mannered drivers. I did 2 "B"s and an "A". The race "A" I did was OK, but nothing noteworthy. I started 7th and finished 5th. I was up to 3rd at 1 point, but then got knocked off the track and was subsequently passed by several other drivers. No penalty for the 1 how knocked me off the track. I climbed my way up to 5th thanks to those same dirty drivers taking each other out a couple laps later. And somehow, I got a clean race award out of it. I was sent off the track at least 3 times, I got hit multiple times on each lap.....yet I get a clean race award. But when I'm a respectable driver and let faster drivers pass me or don't dive-bomb through any corners or run anyone else off the track.....nothing.

It's also really awesome when you get shoved into another driver, causing them to go off the track, and they blame you for it. I guess people don't care to watch the replays or anything like that. It's just whoever hit them is at fault, even if they're not.

That could perhaps work but I think given what I’ve seen in over 3,000 races, the “tryhardness” of so many would lead to one makes even with multiple choices available. But still, one makes with those cars would be one hell of an improvement regardless.

Yeah, I really don’t understand why they for these races restrict the car selection so heavily. Tons of rarely and some never used cars in a game that’s already received criticism for a lacking car list.
