I got in 3 more races at Willow. First race was with @Sven Jurgens. I got punted. Not by Sven, though. Second race, punted. The offender apologized, but that's all. For their effort to move me out of the way, they still lost by 2.5 seconds. Third race, was good & fun. The winner absolutely spanked everyone. He gained time on every lap. Laid down a 1:10 in race, which I hadn't seen before. Beat me (in 2nd) by 10.7 seconds.

@NoStopN Nice to see you on the track! But I'm done for now. I raced in the Lexus, Ferrari, McLaren 650S and Jaguar F-Type today. Doesn't matter which car, I get pushed off the track regardless. I haven't had one race where I was 'allowed' space to stay on the track. An RS.0.1 crashes then has to get by, or people in front get rowdy and the car behind me has no patience or awareness.

It's nice my SR isn't suffering for a change, but SR.S is still the worst for not qualifying. And no penalties mean if you don't constantly block the inside, you're going to visit the desert sooner or later.

Fun to drive on Big Willow again, but maybe more fun to race the AI instead :/

Come join us Friday. It's been too long.

Some good racing today where I only went forward.

Had just enough time to jump into B and so started last with no qualy.
Race was good and clean for me and gained positions due to sand excursions and a couple of overtakes including this one at The Balcony.

P16 to P11.

Hopped back home and to Brands. I wanted to try my Lambo as from using it in my previous manu season it is a good all rounder and thus a potential sleeper. It feels good around here and I'm sure someone can hustle it better than my few scant qualy laps.
Started 17th. I managed several overtakes as others held each other up or binned it. I only went off track once and that was when an Irishman decided to stuff it up the inside after they went wide on the exit of Druids. Off course the 4x4 helpped me rally across the grass safely. I pitted at the right time on lap 5 and came out to little traffic. I had a bit of a battle with a German in a Megane but they were overall too quick across the lap despite the gaps waxing and waning. In the end the last few laps were a bit hairy with understeer creeping in (too scared to go beyond the +2 I'm using.) but she held firm for a respectable 6th place finish. (17th to 6th)

Back to Willow and my lap time is still too slow so something to work on. Started P13 and once again worked my way up. But A Norwegian ahead looked like a Verstappen and was causing issues including a couple of occasions I got near. In the end an car came back on track and I followed them off entering the Omega section and lost few places. P9 in the end after strangely an Italian who finished 8 seconds off the lead was classified at the end. (Maybe they got lost into the pits.) (13th to 9th)

Rest of the evening was spent practicing and tuning a setup I'm happy with for FIA tomorrow.

This weeks guide with a few upgrades :)!

The Daily C’s have been really good lately. Lots of interesting combos that allow for different strategies. Almost makes me think that PD is giving some of the big GTS streamers a say in some of the races. Sort of like a last hurrah for the impending end of this latest Gran Turismo generation 🧐

My advice is: don't push Big Will. Meaning, don't over power the car. Most people are on the brakes for too long & that upsets most cars & you will skate off the track. The front tires won't turn if you are on the binders. You have to find a good mix of brakes/turning/throttle/no throttle in order to make time there.
I followed your advice and I did gain a bit of time, so thanks for that. I'm still not that confident on this track so I might not get to racing others online this week. But, I will still turn some more hot laps and see what happens.

Brands is really interesting, there are more than a few cars that are competitive. I actually set my fastest time (1.26.3) with the WRX but the Trophy has a 25.8 in it if i get it right. The 4C, VW and cayman also appear competitive. Those times are surprisingly competitive in A/A+ lobbies, I sit top 25% of A drivers right now and a 25.8 would get me top 10pc I think.
Are those lap times correct? I'm at a 1:28.3 and that put me inside the top 200 in EMEA at the beginning of the week - No.1 EMEA currently has a time of 1:26.9........

I should be driving a Raptor more than anything else at Willow this week. In that race we were in, an R.S.01 was so impatient on lap one that they hooked me coming out of turn 2. The ghosting failed to work, so I was able to spin in the middle of the track until I ghosted. There's the 2.5 seconds that they lost by.

As much as I had mentioned the Peugeot VGT, I've gotten into the high 1:11s with the Corvette & Viper. Seeing 1:10s go up on the quali boards though, I might have to try that R.S.01 after all. My best QT was in the Ford GT.

No explanation needed. I laughed at this for like 2 minutes

That lag you and him are having might have turned your clean pass racing incident into a dive bomb. That doesn't forgive the revenge side swipe, but shows how lag ruins races. The difference between a clean pass and a dive bomb is often less than 100 ms.

I did one race at Brand's hatch today (psn is offline now). Got punted off once, mostly drove behind the pack for the rest of the race. Overtook one other car, finished 50 sec behind the trophy. (Used the Huracan). Not very exciting.

That wasn’t me. I was definitely avoiding that Eagles car though. I raced him in 2 races and I had to predict where he was going to be.

As always is the case with Brand’s, you are your own worst enemy. Keep it on the island…. Your pretty much guaranteed a decent finish.

I haven’t put much time into my qually, and as a result I’m in the low 29’s on both my main A/S account, and my alt B/S account. Ironically enough, a low .29 qually lands me in the exact same starting positions in both lobbies. And even more ironic, my finishing position is usually the same in either lobby, provided I keep it together of course. The ONLY and MAIN difference of course, I’d the quality of racing. The B lobbies are a bloodbath as per usual.

The Ferrari is a relatively unused weapon. Usually only myself….. and maaaaaaaybe one other person in the 458. Tire wear is good. Enough power where the Slophy and 4CS will never get a run on you UNLESS you really screw things up, and the overpowered FF brigade will never drop you from the slip.

Cockpit view of an idiot.
I'm the white car in his rearview. I never did any thing to this dude.
Actually, the only reason I was behind him, is because he knocked me off the track earlier.

Not sure if he was really expecting some other response from someone named Vigilante. :dunce:

Ran a "C" race, yesterday. I started 5th, but finished at the bottom.....or so I thought. And of course this being at Brands Hatch (NOT my favorite track by any means), I just wasn't having a good time. I screwed up 3 times on my own and I got punted once.

However.....I will do some more racing on it.

Anyway.....I started 5th (which was surprising considering how slow my qualifying time is) and was hoping to at least stay in the top 5. But this being Brands Hatch and the 1st race I've run (in Dailies) where you have to pit, I didn't fare so well. My DR didn't suffer too much (dropped less than 100 points), thankfully. And my SR actually went up (at least, according to the blue "S" that was on the screen at the end). Not that it can go any higher, it was at 99 before the race, regardless. But getting back to the finishing in "14th".

It was a full lobby; 20 cars. After my mistakes, I found myself down in 18th on lap 2. By that time, 2 others had already quit the race so I was in last place (still 18th). Another 2 quit later in that lap so I was moved up to 16th, but still in last. Another couple laps saw 2 more quit and I moved up to 14th (but.....still in last). I was going along, doing OK, and deciding when I wanted to pit. Not that it really mattered with me in last place by a good 20 seconds or so. Originally I wasn't going to change tires, but with the way I was driving (not conservative by any stretch of the imagination, lol), my front tires were going quickly and it was making it harder and harder to steer. And I was having to brake sooner and sooner for turns and I couldn't carry as much speed through the turns. Which, in turn, caused my exit speed to suffer, greatly. So I pitted at the end of lap 9, changed tires, and came out for the remaining laps. All was well, and I was just driving along trying not to screw up any more so I wouldn't be lapped. I finish the race, and when it changes to the finish screen, I'm up into 10th.

???

How did I jump up to 10th from 14th if I was in dead last place (14th) when I crossed the line?

Gonna try to do a good Q lap today in the Toyota FT-1. It's the car I'm most comfortable in, at Willow.
If I can't get a good enough lap, I'll try the R.S.01.
Yup
FT-1 works way better for me. I did a pretty long Q session this morning in the R.S.01 & the FT-1.
The Toyota kills the Renault through the 3,4,5 turn complex. I also like the gear ratios way better in the FT-1.
Lap time was .3 faster in the Toyota.

I'm assuming that when I enter the races later today, I'll get a lot of easy passes on the Renaults spinning themselves out, going up and down the hill. I wouldn't even consider entering the race in that tail-happy little bastard.

*The above info is not meant to represent facts. It's a vehicle evaluation, based on my driving preferences. :)

You're all over the place here.

As noted, others failed to pit so copped a 1 min penalty

Always change tyres at brands, it is a minimal penalty and unless you are a tyre whisperer you will make up those few seconds very quickly on track

Pit laps 5 to 7, nothing else makes sense in this scenario.

As a new player I've been struggling to get to grips with Big Willow. Got to do some race Bs today and was surprisingly good. So far I've found in the D/B lobbies all I have to do is keep on track and I'll move up a lot. Really rewarding once I got the hang of it. Still need to work on my quali, best I have is a 1:15 but haven't done many clean laps. What are the recommended cars for it? Tried all three GR.3 cars I have, the 911 RSR, V12 Vantage, and Citroen. The Citroen I found to be very fast but hard to control as it loves to slide. The Vantage has been best for me so far, at least for consistency. Also, where should I be braking for the final corner? A lot of the time I find myself braking too early.

For the final turn, I suggest turning on the cones in the driver options menu. This will help you in qualifying while allowing you to learn the track better. Better knowledge of the track will help when those cones get wiped out if you also use them in the race. If memory serves me correctly, the cones are around the 175 area at the final corner. Brake then until you reach the next distance marker (150), then coast through the corner. When you feel the car turning toward the apex cone, begin accelerating again. It's difficult to explain, but once you put those steps together, you'll be able to tune your driving style to maximize the speed of the cars. This is a qualifying video I did for the slower Gr. 4, but the principles still apply.

if the cones at the final turn is run over your brake mark is at the point where the building on the left dissapear from your screen, turn-in point is when your nose points to the 3 red billboards.

Thanks! The first thing I actually did after getting GT Sport was turn on the cones. Really a game changer since now I no longer rely on the racing line like I did in Forza. I’ll try today to brake at the 175 board. I had been braking at the double cone but noticed in the race I often lost time there to the people in front.
