I'd say 7:10 - 7:15 might put you to the front of the grid for a couple of races. Then it starts putting you against A and A+ drivers (but only if you're SR 99). But if that's your unicorn time then you'll most likely get eaten alive even in B lobbies. Here in EMEA I've found that chasing a unicorn time actually puts you at a disadvantage. It is better to only do 2 or 3 qual. laps so the lap times are representative of your actual race pace. In case of the Nordschleife I'd only do 1. It might put you further down the grid but the races are more enjoyable and you might even gain a few positions.
I'm at a 7:17 right now with some time to definitely find. Mainly in the way of course-familiarization.

I'd stay there for a bit and see how the races go. Especially if you're not very familiar with the track. And if you can be even faster in the race and stay out of trouble then it only means that you should finish higher than you started. Also the car choice is quite important here. Unless you are really quick with your favourite car, you will eventually be forced to use one of the metas if you want to keep going up.

They just should put again the penalties following a cars contact. It was way better, pushing people staying much more careful and thinking twice. I truly do not understand why they removed it. Of course sometimes can be unfair but way better then now.

Anyway had an awesome race starting 14th and finishing 3rd. But just because i have been lucky enough to avoid any kind of accident or too aggressive people.
I am quite sure, that someone who drives dirty, would not bother about a 0.5 - 1.0sec penalty. those dive bombs go wrong frequently (because of ghosting), leaving them off track, which makes them lose more than 3secs. They keep dive bombing anyway.

I’m using the WRX. My newly-minted “A” status on my Euro Alt didn’t last long. Ran a couple B’s just for the gun of it and lost over 3K DR in 2 races. Got rammed to the back of the pack each race.

What’s a good qually time for B lobbies at NBR?
I'm also in the WRX (for now) lap time of 7:10:3 has put me 5th in a mixed A/B lobby and 4th in all B lobby, only two races so far though

Maybe, maybe, this is the week I finally learn the Ring....
Do it. It’s an amazing circuit that both looks and feels great. I will admit that as much as I know the track, I can forget where I am at times. That’s more of a me problem though

While it’s not the best track for hard racing, it’s much more manageable with Gr 4 cars. So, you should be just fine. Hope to see you out there having fun. Keep on keeping on

What are people racing in B? I tried the WRX and got my fastest time with a :33 flat
This is tricky, in group 4 the WRX is my go-to as the suspension is so supple it can ride the sausage kerbs in the final chicane. For race B group 3, the cars are too stiff and none ride the kerbs well in comparison. I tried the following;

Lancer
WRX
Beetle
Supra
Viper
AMG
Vantage

Did my fastest lap in the Lancer (1.31.3) and feel most comfortable with it, it is just as slow as the wrx on the straights but feels more settled over bumps. Second fastest lap was with the beetle. I suspect the Supra is the fastest though, i just struggle to push that car at 10/10ths as TC2 kills it's momentum but it feels like it has the combination of rotation and power to do well.

The sleeper, 100pc, is the Viper. Can someone who is good with it give it a lash and see what it can do please, it really feels like it can compete.

I was in the 33s with the beetle. Went to the RCZ clocked a 31.7 so I’m sticking with that. There’s all sorts of different stuff on the grid though.

That slow hairpin on Race B leaves you an absolute sitting duck for both punters and bombers. Been knocked off twice there now.

Make it 5 sec again with a max and DQ. Also give out 5 sec for having to be ghosted.

It keeps getting worse. Just now I'm following a car, he doesn't want to be passed so first it's blocking. Wait until the straight I guess. With the straight coming up he keeps slowing down on the inside wants me to go on the outside. Last turn before the straight he slows down so much I have no choice but to go on the outside or get mangled by cars coming up from behind. And yep, he pushed me off into the grass to escape on the straight.

Even though it was often wrong, pre 1.55 was much better than nothing.

Just had what I’d consider to be my first proper race and it was brilliant. Race B starting 3rd. In the warm up chat the two drivers either side of me were making comments about clean racing so I thought well they can‘t start ramming after making such a thing about it, and they didn’t! A 5 lap battle for top 4 with positions changing all clean and space given. Came out 2nd in the end, but would have been happy regardless. Really enjoyed it, and shows wha this game could really be without the troublemakers.

Holy crap. I hit DR A. Didn't mean to. :banghead:

Did a Race C. I figured since I started high yesterday, today I'd be starting lower. Started 2nd/finished 2nd. A bit of a boring race. Car in front won by almost 20 seconds. And I hardly saw anything in my rear mirror after 3-4 turns.

Good races like that are why I come back after the punt fests!

More people need to stop caring about the win and enjoy racing for any position.

This is why I stopped playing gt sport after 2 months and can never get back In to it. There are way too many punters, they need to just use ACC's safety model it's not perfect but the best option we have. Any contact gets both drivers penalised, and you can't race unless you have 70 safety. Most races in ACC when set to safety 70 are very clean.
PD will never do this tho, they are too mainstream and don't want to upset the masses.

Is there any way you could have marshalled lobbies? Like a Reddit mod style situation where people with nothing better to do can dish out penalties. Obviously it would be retroactive but it would be a deterrent.

Careful. I find it's usually those moaning about being clean in the pre race chat are those who are the dirtiest of all.

Who's moderating the marshalls though? Can you still kick people in lobbies? In GT5 you had plenty "clean or kick" rooms, but that mostly meant, kick if your faster than me lol.

The problem with humans is, they have lots of biases and tunneled attention. Everyone on the track already is judge, jury and executioner nowadays.

Time of day strikes again. It was pleasant racing in the early afternoon on the Nord, the clock strikes 5 and it turns into all out war in the back field. Beneficial sometimes when a dirty driver takes out 4 cars in front of me including himself. But so annoying when you're having a good clean battle and a bulldozer decides to end it.

The track is too good to pass up. At least races are never boring on the Nord while starting from the back!

The Nord is an absolute delight when people drive clean. I had a fantastic race last night. Started 5th but lost 2 spots when I got it a bit wrong at Flugplatz. Took 2 spots back when p3 and 4 came together at Metzgesfeld. Then followed within 1 second of an 86 with a Mustang right behind me all the way to Aremberg on lap 2. Got a clean overtake there and then the 3 of us drove in formation within 1 second of each other for the entirety of the second lap. The pressure was immense and, thankfully, I didn't make any mistakes. Finally, at the mini carousel, the 86 got out of shape on exit and I was able to put a 1 second gap to the Mustang onto Dottinger Hohe. That was enough to hold out for p3. The race list shows that 8 of the first 9 got CRBs. Races like this are what keep me coming back to this game.

Only had time for 1 race tonight due to some problems with my capture device that made my computer go bananas which became my major concern. It disabled my mouse inputs somehow and I couldn't click anything. Everything is good now, just a quick sense of dread that my PC was broken.

Anyway, I did manage to knock another second off of my qualifying time to a 7:18.3XX to get me to P10 on the grid. I made a pass on the stranding start after someone made a mistake and then to P8 towards the end of lap 1 and stayed there until lap 2. I royally messed up on the Wehreifen corner and P9 tried to force a pass on the inside and I kind of unintentionally blocked them. So, they fell behind and I have about a 2 second gap. I'm mostly clean with no off tracks, but the hard tires and what wear they had made me slide entering corners and losing tons of time. The driver I kinda blocked caught up eventually and I let them pass with no fight. Not worth it as they had crazy pace after getting by me. The same happened with P9 where I let them pass before the long straight. P11 was closer than I thought and I knew I was in for a drag race to the finish. Using the 2 person slip, I manage to get beside P9, but they try to force me off track and I lose just enough speed and they got away scot free ahead of me. I finish P10 after all of that and I should have been P9 if not for the extracurricular activities.

I'm happy with the result. Not so happy at the attempt to run me off track. I did apologize to the person I blocked and they were cool with it. The driver that almost ran me off track had a red S at the end of the race so there was some justice I guess.

Tried a few more cars but went back to the Lancer and pulled a 1.30.7 out my behind. Thats as fast as i can go.

Regardless I may bail this week, no one wants to race, nothing but barge passing no matter the room I am in. Zero patience, just shove, shove, shove. Ridiculous.

Sorry, I am a bit confused. I guess you are the one, who is driving the Viper right? If I understood it right, than I have to say, if I were in the Gt86, you would have ended my race there. I don't know how the GT86 managed to stay this fast and get back on the track. I am sure I would end up near Adenau Rathaus, or Marketplace (in a village near the Nürburgring). The last bump from the viper was lethal and it looks intentional. If I'm in the 86 I would be scared of you (if you are the Viperman), from there on.
Edit:
after watching the video about 10 times, I am looking forward to some more opinions. the viper is approaching the GT abnormally fast. Were you bumped from behind (lol) , cause when you are closing in on the GT's tail, it looks like you lose speed and the one behind you isn't close anymore.
if the viper and GT kept their pace, the viper would have passed, without major concerns. I tap my Fedora to the GT driver, who even hopped off track. I think all four wheels were airborne.
No hard feelings to you and also it looks like I'm judging. It's just an interesting incident, cause I would behave like the viper (until the last bump, I would have backed off after the second contact), cause it's so much faster, at first.
So

If you watch it again, you’ll see that as he attempts to pass the 86 it moves across and forces him onto the grass. He has no choice but to “lean” on the 86 to stay on track. From there they are at high speed on a bumpy piece of track. I am also astonished that the 86 is able to stay straight and rejoin so cleanly but the fact it was off-track was entirely it’s own fault.

Woohoo! After many attempts and a mind reset, I managed a fully clean lap at the Nordschliefe in the NSX, knocking a full 9 seconds off my previous Q time, now down to 7:15! Alonso approves!

I was cautious through some sectors to guarantee keeping the car on the circuit, and at some stages maybe too cautious, so I could find at least another 2 secs, if not 3. It's just a matter of stringing together those perfect lines and keeping concentration levels at their peak for over 7 minutes straight!

Best I can do so it's time to move on to Green Hell. Lost .15 in S1 and beat my K target by .6. Had an optimum in the 34's but as usual couldn't piece it together.

All the work on my brake pedal and new technique seems to be paying off. I was struggling to get into the 35's when this was a previous event. For a bit I thought I was chasing an OCD related dragon with all the changes but the clock doesn't lie and I'm pretty stoked to see such an improvement.

Now I can work on bettering my skill and racecraft for GT7.
I can't remember the name of the site where you can find these stats, anyone can tell me please?
