Sometimes I’m excited to goto races like B and C,but I guess I’m too out of the game today. Everyrace its either start top then get wrecked, or be partnered with A+ drivers and I can’t compete at all. Good grief!

Oh dear that guy on pole. Seems to me that he hasn't changed ever since he came back and he gives me headache whenever I have to deal with him during a Daily.

Still to see you beat him makes me happy.
Yeah, he’s still waaay too aggressive and pushy. If you watch closely you’ll see he made solid contact into the final chicane. At this level that only happens on purpose.

After I got accidentally pushed off track I was resigned to racing for second. When he lost it and I saw he had a penalty as well I was very focused on catching him and it turned out I got past him at the perfect place to avoid his typical tactics.

That penalty system really s*cks!
Sorry for telling you that but I guess if he didn't get that 1,5s penalty for hitting the wall (didn't he lose enough time?! :banghead: ) you wouldn't have caught him in the straight.

Anyway GG to you, you were the only one not to make mistakes (knowing the game can make it worse) so it's still a deserved victory!
I absolutely agree. The wall contact penalties are a farce. I fully expected to get one when I was run off.

And I am well aware that my victory relied on a very particular combination of incidents but I am still taking it as payback for all the times I’ve been on track for a win only to have it snatched away by some small, frustrating incident.

I remember one time I was doing some Alonso Hungary type defense on him in a Willow Springs Daily then he just lost it and pushed me off the track because he says that defending should not be a thing.

Agree on the wall contact penalties. They should find a way to differentiate between smacking a wall and losing time, and wall riding. The wall contact penalties are there to stop people wall riding, but they punish you completely unfairly when you make a mistake, run off track or get escorted off by some kind fellow racer, clip or smack a wall and lose a chunk of time in the process. Then they smack you with a 1.5s penalty. Absolutely pointless and just anger-inducing!

Last time I had one was after the hairpin at Brands Hatch.
Too wide outside on the left, wheel on grass, spin and hit in the wall ON THE RIGHT, and you give me 1,5s penalty??! :banghead:

They should at least (quite easily imo) define which walls could be useful for wall riding and which ones couldn't.
A wall inside a corner should definitely never give a penalty when hit!
That would be a good start...

I've used the inside wall some times as a last resort in the braking zone. Especially on Tokyo when someone suddenly swerves in front of you in the braking zone and you're boxed in. Steering into the wall to use it for additional braking to avoid the car in front. I'm glad that doesn't give a penalty (like many other evasive "ignoring track limits" bs)

Hitting the inside wall in a turn should indeed not give a penalty, unless you bounce off into another car... But that's expecting a penalty system to work. Generally it makes no sense. When Tokyo had the strict penalties, touching the inside losing time and getting onto a bad line, 1.5 sec... Oh well, it did teach better driving. By the end of the week no one was touching the walls anymore :)

I'll return again next week (in every region).:D I have not raced at Spa nearly enough as it always seems to come up at a bad time or I've been busy on other games or something, next week no excuses, I'm there.;) In the wet too, it will be total chaos, let's see how the idiots cope now.

Race C: Gr.3 @ Spa | 7 laps | RI / W | Tyres x5 | Fuel x2 | Grid start
Should I be excited or worried about a grid start wet race, probably the latter. Besides, if bumping into other cars has no consequence than slightly driving on the grass in Race C, expect the worse at every corner.

I just wish the racing etiquette was more than having to watch two videos. Even the pre-release screenshots are more in depth.

I have sworn never to drive another wet race in GTS so C is out next week (even though I love Spa).
If they had a default setup for wet it might have been OK but forcing us to use the dry setup in the wet is bonkers.
Time trial for me maybe. Or make a few pop-up races in the TPC section

OK tried the ring, whch i usually avoid as i simply cannot remember the track to save my damn life. Can confirm the GTR is really fun there, you can really lay on the throttle. Turned on cones to help me out but gee they are poorly done, managed to get down to a 7.21, how you guys are going 15 seconds faster, i dunno. I REALLY struggle in the are between the two banked turns, there's a solid 90 seconds of semi fast corners and I have NO IDEA which is coming next so don't commit. But 15 seconds? screw you guys.

EDIT: Just saw Spa next week... TAKE MY MONEY! That looks fantastic, i have done well at races, sloooooooow in, fast out.... slooooooooooower ... careful ............ exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxit.

In the last race, I was Q6 and got gang raped on T1 and shoved off the track.
Here's how you turn that lemon into lemonade.
This is a clip from about a year ago, when we had a 1 lap race at Le Mans in the Toyota Yaris.
If people are crashing into you at the first turn, take advantage and just skip the chicane.

It's not what I intended to do here, but if people are gonna try to beat me up and treat me unfairly, then screw them. :mischievous:
I let the clip go for a little while, so you can see that no penalty comes up.

It's not a track limit violation if you get hit before taking this path.
Of course, like at Monza, a person could initiate the contact, just so they can cut. I don't endorse that practice.

If they say that to you, don't forget to say it when you exact your revenge.

I'll keep that in mind especially for next week.

I'm thinking of doing Race C just for one or two days only then after that I'm out for the week. Would like to try and get a win just to remove my bad memories of doing wet Spa FIA race where it really tested my mental fortitude.

Do you need any help with the race, or with qualifying?
I can always use help (see my signature!). My current qual is 4:42.x which is good enough in the rooms I'm currently in usually to put me in the top half and sometimes at pole, but I keep trying to better it.

Edited: I put 7:42, but that would be jogging, not driving! 😂

Something that will save you at least a second in qualifying, is when you're on the straight, make sure to shift to 5th gear at about 148-150 mph.

Thanks, I've been shifting at 158, I'll try that. I also discovered I could pick up a few hundredths by closely cutting all the curves on Mulsanne. That has even gained me distance between me and followers who didn't cut those corners.

Do a qualifying lap with your normal shifting, then do the next one shifting at 148. It's surprising how much of a gap you put on your ghost.
