Pretty decent week so far at Nurburgring. My time of 7:05:7xx has consistently put me at or near the front of the 11 races I've done so far. I've managed to achieve 2 wins (sport wins 82 and 83), 4 seconds, 2 thirds, and a 5th, 7th and 8th. Mostly clean at the front of the A/S lobbies except for one race where someone who has something out for me was pretty dirty with me.

I've gained almost 11,000 DR this week, as well, up to 39.1K. Pretty happy with that.

Thanks, that helped a lot! With that tip and remembering to brake in a straight line, I got it down to 4.39.9xx.
That's great! you should get a few more poles. 👍
If you enter the straight in the lead, just don't swerve around like one of those idiots.
It doesn't do any good, and it just makes them look like clowns.
If someone is slipstreaming up to you, just let em go. Don't block.
By the time you get to the end, you should be slipstreaming back past them. :D

No, I don't do that. I figure slipstreaming is fair game and I'd rather drive a straight line. I generally move over a bit to give room, but in a few races last night there was a guy who liked to shove past even if there was sufficient room.

13?? Wow, that's bonkers good. There's a subtly to driving that is not there on games that just need fast button combinations.
True! You'd be surprised by the age of some of the currently top drivers in EMEA. Many of them being karting freaks!

We're always so closely matched, I'd be interested to know how you go in the NSX. Give it a crack and let me know how you get on. It took me 120km / 80mi of driving it to finally get a clean lap!!!

I've just finished up a livery on the GT-R which means I'll finish the week off with that instead... 😅

I'll give the NSX a spin on Sat. Not really used to the car so it'll be interesting.

I find the M4 is good for qualifying (7 speed really helps) but sketchy in the race - one bump and it's off to Narnia.
Whereas WRX may be few secs a lap slower but is rock solid, much less stressful to drive.

Just did my best ever lap of the 'Ring (7.29) and I'm still 7 seconds slower than my slowest friend, and 23 seconds slower than my fastest. Never mind, I was still pleased I kept it on track, and can see where I can probably make up 5 seconds.
Keep practising! You will be amazed how a simple corner can save 2-3 seconds. I'm at 7.25 but with an optimum of 7.20 in theory if I could put it together in the M4.
I looked up the fastest time and the driver rode the kerb so much - simply insane. If that was me I would last 2-3 corners.

This is really good driving, super consistent and lots of pressure on man in front but no touching.
Thanks, man! Putting pressure is always good fun. :D
Haha, in all his glory! He's 13 years old though, I tweaked my opinion about him when I learned that...
Crazy fast for a child but... childish. Like a lot on this game!
Oh, 13 is he? Shame someone taught the boy to weave like that. :( Probably just picked it up from some other random clown. That along with the punt into T1 had me ready to execute a little something myself but as you saw, that all sorted itself out on its own, luckily. Perhaps T1 was unintentional. Pace is definitely there, hopefully the sportsmanship level can equal the speed in a not too distant future.

I've got the first corner and last corner pretty good - just the ones in the middle I need to get right 😬

There's probably 3 spots where I lose a load of time. I was on for 7.23 but managed to lose it coming on to the long straight and got on the grass 😭

Qualifying time of 7:41. Yeah I don't think this is the week.
Just keep working on it. It is not a realistic goal to learn in a week. It is the the longest, bumpiest track there is. It is unlike anything else that you will experience in the game.

If you work on it and participate this week then you will be that much better for the next time it comes around.

If not obvious, "Circuit Experience" is a great place to learn the track.

Well that last A race was a mess! Looks like I plowed into everyone in the Mulsanne corner, but I didn't mean to! Then I accidentally ponged harleyrider3 at the pits when he braked earlier than I expected. I apologized, but I don't know if he saw it. And after all that I got an much undeserved clean race bonus. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa to all I messed up!

Looking back on it, I think I braked too soon at Mulsanne. I was watching the surrounding cars instead of the meter markers and I think I mistook the 300 for the 200, which caused everyone no end of trouble! Maybe I need to take a little break; I've been racing for the past 3 hours or so. Bummer!

I'm sorry. I braked way too late at the Mulsanne corner, which sent you into the others.
My fault. I wanted to help. :guilty:

I think I braked too early as I said in my edit above. Thanks for your help with the qualifying, it has really helped. I am getting some good starting positions, now if I could only concentrate more and not flub shifts or make other dumb mistakes, I might accomplish something. My DR keeps inching up (C now) and my SR keeps inching down (A now).

Instead of seeing the 300 and thinking it was 200 I think I saw 200 up ahead and thought it was 100 and "panicked".

<... snip...> I REALLY struggle in the are between the two banked turns, there's a solid 90 seconds of semi fast corners and I have NO IDEA which is coming next so don't commit. <... snip...>
I found that section the hardest to learn. It has many fast fourth gear (VW Scirocco) corners in the 120 to 150 kph range, one of them with a jump on entry. What could be more fun?

In my younger days, when skiing, I liked to ski amongst the trees. Not because it was dangerous but it felt both real and scenic. That part of the track feels just like it - scenic with trees, flows fast, has elevation changes and the game renders it beautifully.

After a month or so of not racing I was able to run two races today. Made mistakes in both but got a pair of P5s.

I haven't even tried race A. Feel bad about that as I love the track and the combo sounds good. Focus is on race C though.

The competition was amped up in the 2 races I did on my main tonight. In there with the A+ guys for the first time in a while and held my own. It was clean but it was tough! Up to 41K DR :D

I had barely used the NSX before this as well, used it as a challenge to myself to see how I can improve using an unfamiliar car on a notoriously unforgiving circuit.

Tried the GT-R. I was 3 seconds up on my NSX time when I lost it at the compound right-hander before the long straight, smacked the wall and got that stupid penalty we were all discussing earlier. Next lap was a shocker. Try again next time!

I had a run with the NSX to see what it was like. I’m about 4 seconds slower than the Viper.

It’s a weird beast. You feel like you’re right on the edge and doing a super fast time and then find you’re well behind your usual splits.

It's really tricky to get it right. Needs really consistent balance and I find it carries speed through corners better than the Viper and GT-R. It's slow on the straights though, so it would be vulnerable to the quicker cars in those sections.
