Can't say im thrilled with the same dailies. Gonna have to break down and get gt7. A ps5 is NOT in the budget, though.. Anyone playing GT7 with the PS4? Or will i be herded onto the short bus, and not allowed to play with the big boys...
On ps4 pro here its fast and clean as far as I`m concerned. If I was made to drive a bus I`d take the short one and beat the big boyz. Seriously think about it

Was curious how it was going to perform on the '4 -vs- '5. Watched a video someone had put together that did layover graphics comparisons between the PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 and was pretty impressed with how the '4 kept-up. Obvious visual benefits to the '5 but nothing so egregious that you'd notice while racing.

That said, they can make small slices of gameplay fit whatever marketing narrative they wish. To hear first-person experience backing up the claims is hugely appreciated so Thank You!

I played GT7 on both, ps4 pro and ps5. The only difference I notice is (besides obvious longer load times) is more pop in on the ps4 version. I don't sit close enough to the tv to notice any difference in resolution, played on 4K tv. Replays are more shiny on ps5 in RT mode, yet for gameplay I only notice the difference in pop in from track side detail.

PS4 and PS5 userbase are split for the daily races, yet combined for the nations and manufacturers cup. Not sure why the difference, yet with the cups you see half the people load, while the other half presumably on ps5, join instantly. The daily races on ps5 start faster since it doen't have to wait for ps4 to load.

Funny thing, the daily races on ps4 are cleaner than on ps5, and somehow I'm getting faster times on the 'grind' race on ps4 v ps5.

So, I feel there was a missed opportunity here...

I was a late adopter of GTS. Played GT 1 - 3 and then got married and was swallowed by family life. So, 'Sport was my grand return to the GT franchise sometime in '19.

Since picking it up again, I've logged 88,746.872 Km and am truly smitten with the game. Now it's going away and, me personally, I think there should have been more to it's final days. Some fanfare of some kind, at least. Maybe a parting memento or something?

I dunno...as was previously stated, I guess it's time to move-on to '7. I wasn't around for previous sunsets/shutdowns so have nothing to gauge against, but this feels like the worst 'final episode' ever....😁

So, I feel there was a missed opportunity here...
I'm guessing the Road to GT7 series was the signal of parting. GT Sport was a missed opportunity in many respects. Repetitive daily races using the same format for years. No expansion on racing etiquette beyond 'Don't make yourself look bad'. No racing rules and people left to form their own interpretation. Lack of varied racing strategies, trainwreck penalty system that was ultimately abandoned, no new tracks after Laguna Seca and very little general experimentation.

While I enjoyed my time playing for the most part, I feel it could had been so much better.

the Daily races on Sport suit me fine-tracks and Groups are some of my favourites and with limited spare time i need to just plug and play -not play a video game, like i`m 14 again-FFS-i`ve been B/SR99 forever and wasted valuable time getting my license,(winning) crap cars and chatting to bots in the fricking cafe? Would be happy to keep paying for Sport and reckon i`m not the only one-also happy to buy GT7 and let it mature.

I'm unable to get in a daily race this morning. Error W37505-0

I had a ps4 software update this morning, the load GTS and cannot race online.

Reboot ps4, clear cache file in GTS, check ps4 online services and everything is ok.

Check GTP for answers 😉 no answers yet.

I think PD really screwed big time with their 1.07 cancel update. Online saves are doing funny things since the update. And now this...

Hmm could it be related

System update screwing up online functionality :/

I am on the PS4 slim and apart from some frame dropping in really crowded spots or where there a wide view with many trees I have no noticeable problems. Shadows are appearing about 190 meters ahead and everything vanishes in the rear view mirror at a distance but it plays well

Back to Daily Race C after missing out yesterday.

Time for 3 races before work.

1. Win from 2nd position. Pole sitter made a mistake on lap 1 and fell back.

2. 2nd place from 3rd on the grid.

3. 2nd place finish but it was the fun one.

On lap 1, I lost a place after the guy behind divebomb Griffin Bend from a distance and I didn't see it coming. On second lap I hit a wall fighting the same guy and 3 other cars passed by.

Now down to 6th. Kept my heads down and keep pushing, after a pit stop (L4) for Soft and two laps remaining, I catch up the same dude who is on soft too. The last two laps we swap position at every drafting overtake opportunity: two wide in Hell Corner, Griffin Bend, The Chase and Murray's Corner. There was door banging and tires on grass and let's say I gave him more space than he did. But in the end it was good fun. Last corner, last lap, I'm on the inside and he slip the wheel under accel and his front push my rear wheel and almost spin me, he then slam the brake before crossing the line. Fairplay!

Manage a 2.02.0 after pit in clean air.

Been trying Race A for the past two weeks with no avail, can't make a faster qualifying time than 44.626 no matter how hard I try. Hopefully this time the races will change, or I can definitely say goodbye to the platinum.

Edit: managed a 44.4 but game started pairing me with A's so nevermind, let's hope for next week

Looking forward to the races this week in GTS but do have one fear....I have NO idea how to turn LEFT. 😁

Really though, spent the entire week on BMB (and wrapped with 700 miles last night). Going left feels weird. To anyone I pi$$ed-off, please know that it wasn't intentional. Not an oval guy so my "draft-craft" leaves a lot to be desired, I am sure, and I really struggle with race nerves.

Haven't bought GT7 yet, still having too much fun in GTS. First time I've ever been 'A' ranked, tons of clean/pole/win runs and some great drivers still in there makin' you earn it. I just hope they keep GTS going until they roll/iron-out more of '7. With any luck they'll watch adoption rates and scale accordingly. Making money and bleeding it can be a fine line, I suppose.
I haven't purchased gt7 either, I don't want to let go of GTS. But I know at some point i'll have to switch to gt7. But if the servers are acting wacky there then maybe I shouldn't try the online stuff there yet. Surely they have had plenty of time to get the game right for the daily races.

Don't feel bad, I keep trying to grind it too and no matter what I do I can't get a low lap time like I want to. I don't get it.

Race A: 3rd place. It was rough.

See you over at GT7

As much as I love GTS I have probably run my last race in it. The difference in physics between GTS and GT7 makes it hard for me to hop back and forth.
Thank you to all that participated in this thread, the first thread I ever posted in on GTP and thank you to GTP, @Famine and @Jordan for giving me the opportunity to learn so much and befriend so many
was always nice, entertaining and/or informative reading your comments. Good to hear, that the physics are even better in gt7, first time I read this and made me looking forward to buying gt7. I would buy it no matter what, but up to now, the negative feedback on the game was nearly heartbreaking.
Maybe most of us are coming together in a gt7 thread or meet each other on the track, we have the saying -"you always meet a person, at least, twice in your life." until then, all the best to you ,
auf Wiedersehen.

Exactly what Charmantha said. Couldn't say it better. See you when I make it across.

Just got to finish Deathloop first.

And it's the same races again, I'm starting to think these are here to stay and we're stuck with them. I'm never gonna see that platinum trophy... I'll start trying Race B, since A is out of my league
Yeah, I think the next step is total server darkness so will take whatever races they send our way. I am starting to enjoy/appreciate Mt. Panorama more as the GP Ring and I simply do NOT get along. Just a matter of putting the time in and all but, really, the mountain section at Panorama is just TOO. MUCH. FUN. Hard to get it right but feels so good when you do...😁

Been finishing horribly but my times are getting better, so there's that...with any luck I'll shed enough DR to get back to my homies in 'B' as I stand no chance against the 'A/A+' ranks I'm trying to run with now.

Been great being here for the short time I was and have appreciated the (mostly) sane commentary on offer...wish I would've stumbled through the door years ago.

I think I am going to bite the bullet on a copy of '7. In looking at everything, and from reading some of the scathing remarks around the economy in there, it seems to make the most sense to grab the 25th anniversary edition. It gives you three expensive (hopefully competitive, too) cars and 1.1mil in credits to start with for $89.99. Unless I'm missing something, this seems to be the best way to go.

Hopefully run into some of you in the dailies over there! Well, you know, not ACTUALLY run into you but, well....nevermind.😁

Agree, next step is just closure, I'm guessing these races are staying with us for a few months until everything moves to 7. Never gonna make it with the Platinum, I should probably just give it up. Will try a bit of Panorama and GP and see how it goes

Yes, I'm sure GT Sport is done in terms of daily race updating. KP is continuously rolling days with the same races until servers are offline. I'll probably focus more on GT7's solo campaign until I've a comfortable number of cars and credits to compete online. GT Sport is nice to hop on in the meanwhile, it's just too bad there isn't different races. I guess if there were, it conflicts with PD wanting more onboard GT7.

I share your dreams of that Platinum Trophy that will never be...oh well, now I know. I didn't start playing 'til late in the GTSport cycle and didn't start racing online until quite some time after that. Once they get some of the headaches dealt with in the new generation I'll port over and start focusing there because, guess what? The Platinum Trophy lives on in GT7, too.

The title of this long lasting thread is

"Daily" Race Discussion

... and with the 3rd week in a row of Miyagi/NGP/Bathurst, I am ready to move on from GTS. I will dabble but I think we are near done. PD, I have been one of the defenders for your great game. This is, however, no way to say good-bye... you just can't bore me to death.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread and when it was good it was VERY good. Sometimes, I looked forward to this thread more than the game. Over last two years I have gone through the learning cycle, been an eager noob, got better and then got pretty good and then my interest started to wane. It order to be very good the game requires dedication and serious practice and I cannot make that sort of long-term commitment. Now, I race once or twice a week, if at all.

I have started a third account where I race from the back with no-qualy and try to be clean and respectful. It tempers the terrible DR obsession that I counseled others to avoid and yet struggled with myself. The focus on DR really does detract from the fun.

In the near future I will get GT7. I searched and found... https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gt7-daily-race-discussion.404847/. The names look familiar and that is where I will head for my gtplanet fix. See you there.

Guppy.

That's one good thing to hear. Of course one day or another I will get GT7. But my main interest is racing online and GTS did it in the best way possible. GT7 is a less attractive game in that regard. Setting up, tuning, no BOP races and chase the rabbit campain, I don't feel it at all.

Add to that the post launch catastrophy with the economy and I was happy of doing another week at Mount Panorama.

My requirement to jump into GT7.

GTS no longer works (almost there it seems)
Getting a PS5 and HDR 4K tv because you know
Waiting for PD to sort their 💩 out and make the game decent (one step in the good direction according to the news I read today)

I'm already lurcking in GT7 Daily races thread, so that's the most GT7 I am at the moment

I'm really eager to try the new physics, dynamic wheater, gorgeous replay and all the thing quoted in https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/little-things-you-love-about-gt7.404945/

What a shame that PD is giving up on us only 3 weeks after GT7 came out. Why is it so hard to put another set of Daily Races for us to enjoy. At that point, just annonce the end of GTS servers and be done with it.

On the plus side, GT7 and Mount Panorama got me into DR.A+

I shared most of your thoughts about moving over. I was expecting GT7 to be GTS with a tacked on single player deal but it wasn't.
It has it's problems for sure and there's still teething, but I see good progress and I have hopes for it

Yep, it's not hard switching out races with others. It's clear they've made the choice not to.

Announcing future plans is the least PD can do for remaining loyal players. It's a game running almost 5 years, casting us aside is pretty bad taste. However switching off servers and removing dailies would be worse. We can still continue to enjoy Bathurst over and over and over again.
