That is just ridiculous. Rear end contact like that has been good for 1 or 2 second pens. How transparent has PD been about penalty updates?

If you struggle with the R2 accelerator set-up, you could try mine - left stick for steering, right stick for go/stop. I found it a really easy transition from the old D-pad controls when I made the shift in GT5. The sticks give the same sort of progressive adjustment would can get from R2/L2 but I personally find it easier having the main controls on the two sticks.I'm on a controller too, having the accelerator set to R2 really helps for me because you can bring in the power more smoothly out of the hairpins, if it is still too brutal up shifting to just before you go on the power is a bit slower but takes away that initial kick of oversteer (manual gears are quicker once you get the hang of them). Changing the controller sensitivity to +7 makes the car more responsive and quicker at changing direction too.
The track limits are fairly forgiving at Red Bull Ring, you can run wide on the exits as long as your inside wheels stay on any part of the curb (including the yellow sausages) which is worth a few tenths. Aside from that these 2016 Super GT cars have a tonne of downforce, you can drive into the corners a lot harder than you would in a Gr3/4 car without it punishing you. My qualifying time is 1:19.9 but I forgot to save the replay, this is a 1:20.9 on mediums from last time we had this race

Thanks for the advice, appreciate it. I have tried to set the accelerator to R2 but I find myself braking out of corners and accelerating into walls 🤦🏼♂️
I shall examine your video closely for any pointers I can use. Thanks for posting it.
I wonder if that is deliberate, makes it tougher to play the system if you don't know what it is. The penalty system seems pretty decent at the moment.Game isnt showing SR down
I'm potentially onboard with not showing SR down but there's no contact penalties at the moment, it's just wild west justice at the moment.I wonder if that is deliberate, makes it tougher to play the system if you don't know what it is. The penalty system seems pretty decent at the moment.
Some good stats there. My week so far in Race A:
-7 Starts
-4 Poles
-7 wins
-7 CRBs
-40 of 49 laps led
Even though the entire Top 10 is now composed of wall-riders, I have yet to see one in an actual race. Ugh why doesn't this track come up more often?? I wish PD would've added the Motegi oval. We'd definitely be seeing that come up in the rotation a lot...

Yeah. I took exception to the dive bomb and getting run off at turn 1 but I was fine with the return squeeze two laps later.Yikes, some nastiness going on there! Not helped by the fact you both tried to run the other off the track at the same section (the run up to turn 2) but a bit mental you can punt like that and not get penalised now. No wonder there's nastiness going on.
Agreed he ran him wide at T1 but then the come back was to cut him off onto the grass on the straight. In my eyes this move happened marginally too late and should have happened just before the overlap. If I'd been in the same position I'd have tried to leave enough space on the right to save the fight for the next corner, otherwise you're essentially asking for dirty tactics to get involved. Running someone out onto the grass when they've got an overlap is the same as running them into the pit wall on the pit straight in the same positioning. Sure, there are players who are dirty and will play dirty no matter what, but I personally try to keep things civil for as long as possible to prevent retaliation like that. FYI, @ShiftingGears I'm not referring to you as a dirty player in that comment.Penalties don't exist, not for contact anyways, it's the wild west. You did nothing wrong, he was totally running you off at every opportunity and was gonna do it again if you tried to pass.
Disagree they "both ran each other off", the other guy started it into T1.

Fair point, it was a dive and a half. I still stand by my call though - once the overlap is there he's got the right to be there, not forced off the track. Eye for an eye and all that though. Maybe I'm just not aggressive enough...Ran him wide at T1?????? He is not even on the radar! It was an absolute mother of all bomb in moves, at that point you know you're dealing with an idiot, a dirty idiot at that. Our man had every right to squeeze him out after being pushed off like that.
noticed no contact penalties being given out at all in four races today. It's like they're gone

It's not eye for an eye, he has ZERO right to be there because he wouldn't be there if he didn't bomb in and shove our man off. HE should be yielding if he made a mistake but it was intentional and tried to gain a place despite the dive.Fair point, it was a dive and a half. He should be, but he's not. A character like that is clearly the type to resort to dirty tactics, so why aggravate them by forcing them off the track when there's still a race ahead to be had? The punt into the sand on the final lap was pure justice and much more effective for delivering the penalty he should have received for the earlier punt. It's not eye for an eye, he has ZERO right to be there because he wouldn't be there if he didn't bomb in and shove our man off. I too use this set up, have been since my GT4 days, cannot break a good habit...If you struggle with the R2 accelerator set-up, you could try mine - left stick for steering, right stick for go/stop. Well I didn't get any penalty for a slight wall scrape but in the final results list I did notice some driver way on bottom of list or so did receive one.I noticed no contact penalties being given out at all in four races today. It's like they're gone.
Game isnt showing SR down, seems to be more forgiving on penalties as well but you still cop the SR hit after the race. See below where i get squeezed twice and spin two people, no notifications or penalties.
I believe that the second spin is NOT your fault at all, he tried to make the pass and got himself out of control when he clipped his rear trying to get in front of you.Game isnt showing SR down, seems to be more forgiving on penalties as well but you still cop the SR hit after the race. That would explain why I didn't get any penalty after I got into the back of you yesterday. That's usually good for 1 second minimum.I noticed no contact penalties being given out at all in four races today. It's like they're gone.
That would also explain why I dropped SR with all the chaos yesterday and me not noticing.Game isnt showing SR down, seems to be more forgiving on penalties as well but you still cop the SR hit after the race.
I think that will make racing worse. If there is no indication of someone doing things that warrant an SR down, others will just keep shoving and ramming to get ahead. Not like it stopped people in the past, but there was some penalty for dirty driving. The current penalty system is also fine by me, I just want an indication I did something to get that SR down.I wonder if that is deliberate, makes it tougher to play the system if you don't know what it is. The penalty system seems pretty decent at the moment.
Actually, @GOTMAXPOWER could have a point. If the miscreants are pushing & shoving, getting negative SR, they will unknowingly drop to the DR reset levels. This now puts them out of the rooms with people who want to have good races.I think that will make racing worse. What sort of dunderhead initiates contact into the corner immediately before they serve a penalty? Seriously dumb.
