The vette is really gobbling me up on conrod, even with a good exit I am being hunted down at anything less than 6 tenths in front. It has so much top end.
Aston Martin Vantage
DBR9
If in AMG you MUST maximize exits.
I beat my q with vette in AMG though.
Almost a 59.
These cars are all good, can beat vette.
The Supra’s are hard to lose also on pure top end, but their drivers rarely keep on track more than a lap or two.

I can't do the DBR, just too clunky. The Aston never feels good at Bathurst, it doesn't ride the kerbs well and is not as good on exit as the merc but yeah maybe I give it another lash to stop being mauled.

The Supra feels FANTASTIC, the turn in is immense but yeah.....no.

Haven't been able to race much this week but have been running the Mustang in Race B and having a great time. Don't think I've seen a dirty driver all week (of course I'll be punted immediately in my next race for mentioning that), and racing has been close. My qualifying time is only good for 7-10 in the rooms I'm in and have been finishing in the top half so I'm happy. Especially since I'm driving a car here that seems to only work for me, looks like everyone else is running the Evo or RCZ. I tried both and they just didn't work for me so figured I'd have fun with my big American V8 for the week.

Call me when someone breaks a World Record with tractor control. ;)

Damn. Looks like what @Sven Jurgens sees when he's playing Flight Simulator.
Well that's a new one, first lap had a guy behind so keep the inside and get punted. Afterwards the guy says "blocking isn't racing". How can people play a game like this and not understand the basics of racing? Or is this a generational thing where they just expect it to go their way or something is wrong?
Probably a bit of both. From one point of view, younger players have an inferiority complex where they have to be "the best" in the eyes of their peers. Doesn't matter if it's important or just a game, they have to win at all costs.
Next Week's Races
A: N200 | Dragon Trail Gardens | 4 laps | SM
B: Gr.3 | St. Croix B | 3 laps | RM
C: Gr.4 | Suzuka | 9 laps | RM | x2 fuel, x8 tyres
This could be one of the most well rounded & enjoyable weeks on the daily race schedule.
Suzuka? Hell ya!
Gr4? I sleep.
I'd take Suzuka over Fuji any day of the week. And Gr. 4 can be fun if your skills are up to snuff.

Watch out for this curb, at the top of the mountain. :nervous:

I've lost count of how many times I've done that. :dunce:

For me: Slophy, Mustang and WRX at Suzuka. ;)

DTG is just an awesome original track. Any car works there.

St Croix is St Croix. I love that location as well. Should stir the pot for the week.

So I mentioned how I love the Minis. Went back out after I knew the troll was busy making a fool of himself in the FIA lobbies. Spammed the mess out of 6 races, came away with 3 wins and 3 p2s. Glad I did. Out of the 3 days of zeroing in on that race I ended up with a freakish career high DR of 51.7k. I'm not silly enough to believe I'm anywhere near the pace of holding on to A+, but know I can ride a favorable combo to bounce there if I want.

Then spent this morning trying to learn the old mini in the NA races. Apparently coming from the back there means passing is not allowed. I was run off several times and called all sorts of names as I did horrible things like taking it 2 wide through graham hill and leaving the other person plenty of space or passing around the outside on the final turn. I can see where the old mini has speed, but I'll really need some time to figure it out.

C'mon @D_Dragline start grinding on the mountain, if I can sneak a day at A+ you can too!
I jumped in for 3 races last night. A+ ain't happening this week. The qualy times have plummeted and there are A LOT of people who have clearly posted a single quick lap but can't do it consistently. The fields are now really lumpy.

My general pace was pretty good, but the bully boys have arrived and I got punted through The Chase a couple of times and generally divebombed everywhere possible. I won't get my DR heading up again until I can dramatically drop my qualy time from the current 2:01.3xx

Did a Race C. Quit on lap 6. Got punted, someone couldn't handle getting passed.

I've noticed the racing gets worse or more specifically, there's more jerks as my DR gets higher. Probably more desperate drivers and uneven matching in between DRs. Big difference in my experience.

I definitely notice on NA at B S there are an awful lot of really cool clean drivers.
As in their attitude/chat/driving all positive all good things great.

But head into the realm of Low Mid A and there’s quite a few turdburgers.
To beat low mid A you have to out qualify them.
High A and A plus is pretty decent again…
There’s a point at A thats just awful tho as far as clean fair goes.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

In the last race I entered in top split on NA there were many familiar faces.
Also, in this top split 99sr lobby a cursory view of the replay revealed no less than seven cars sliding off or crashing out entirely due to TCS 0. Almost half the field.

hehehe

THIS HAS BEEN A TEST OF THE EMERGENCY TCS USE SYSTEM

Didn't get a chance to race yesterday, but I did get my time down to a 2:03.2XX in the short time I had a chance to practice. Went to do some racing today but I couldn't keep the car off the walls or off of the grass so I didn't bother enter. I don't want to ruin another drivers race because I can't keep my car straight. I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens.

Did I hear Slophy? I love driving the Slolphy. If it's anything like the Leguna Seca race back in January, I just need to keep everything smooth and have the race come to me. I'm guessing others will struggle on worn medium tires towards the end of the race.

No I see you coming. Its tough being mid pack, the top 2 to 3 drivers pit before me and cycle in not too far behind on fresh softs. Then at the end of the race the 3 to 4 fast guys who for some reason don't qualify start coming through and I need to decide if I am deep enough into the race to defend or to let them loose so they crash with the guy ahead of me.

Anyways, I am done for the week and what a weird week it was. I made significant errors on maybe half my laps, never finished higher than 7th and still gained 2k DR.

One thing I have noticed in this game as race c, the right hander after the cutting, the one many of you take full beans and I am slow there, I find it EASIER as the tyres wear and the grip starts to go away.

GROUNDFISH was that the race I was actually going half well at the butchered the pit entry and lost 8 seconds. Jesus that annoyed me.

If you smash into the wall at Sulman Park and I go up the inside at McPhillamy just back off the throttle and live to fight another lap, don't turn into my side and bounce off into the sand and then complain in the post race chat after you finish 18th.

Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

You're slower out of the Cutting as the grip goes away, so it's easier to turn at full beans? Just guessing, since that's a full throttle corner on my quali lap.

I’m going back in. Just ran 4 qualy laps and got my time down to 2:00.9xx. Let’s see if that gets me far enough up on the grid to avoid the dodgems.

Edit: Q3…

Edit2: and P7 after some self inflicted damage and a couple of punts on the mountain.

Edit3: 3 races and I’m up by 1400 DR. I’m daring to dream.

I warmed up to that car. Hated when everyone would use it and I was using the Scirocco. Now, everyone uses the Scirocco and I rarely see the Renault.
Suzuka is still a high speed track. Could favor the FFs, even with that 8x tyre wear. Someone will find a way to make it work.

I'll just take my chances being passed, over struggling for grip.

WHY is it so slippery this time? It's usually a trick kerb but i swear it is covered in oil this time around. I am not imagining these grip oddities.

Now back in the day.....no barrier or kerb..... lunatics.

That was nasty to watch. I'm guessing the barrier cut him in half. If it didn't he's one lucky boy.

Well he's giving a recount of the event, so one would assume no cutting in half occurred. ;) It's mad how they just used to carry on racing while the recovery crew were working on the side of the road and the barriers were in tatters!

I'm at work 🤫 so no sound for me. A very lucky boy then. The barrier crumpled the car where his head was and kept going. How he survived I don't know.

Incredibly lucky! In the slow mo bit you can see his white helmet about to land where the barrier is. Looks NASTY!

How about these as alternatives to the Renault?

Just ran the NSx and 4C at NurbGP. Pretty good cars. The 4C is a flea. Very cool. About to run the 458 and Citroen(still dislike the look of this car).

Edit: Ran the 458. Had to keep from bumping into the WRX ahead of me as it was slow on turn in and mid-corner. A regular dude in an Atenza divebombed me twice. Hope he's not a gtp member. If you are, you need to chill with that crap.

@NevilleNobody Sorry I probably scared the crap out of you, I was in a bit of a hurry. 😄
Hehe. I was certainly hoping you’d get caught in a scrum after pitting.
Unfortunately for me you encountered a clean GTP’er.
I saw you were on mediums there and knew my goose was cooked second stint.
Maybe if I pitted end of 6 I could have given you a little race there-end of 7 was one too many.
Excellent job in that one. Great use of the AD-Vantage :).
I couldnt keep up with your pace-you are very fast indeed.

I don't know what the decorum is in Super GT or Formula Nippon, but someone's gotta let these Japanese players know its poor form to reactionary block on straights and change lines in braking zones. Just had a bloke do it to me down Conrod, then into the Chase. Thanks for slapping the SR down on me pal.

I know it's one of those things that is too 'human' to be covered by the penalty system, but man it really grinds my gears.

Well, that was a great evening at Mt Panorama. Driving in very strong lobbies and the racing was clean and respectful but also very competitive.

The last race probably sums up my night. Started 7th in a lobby with 9A+ drivers and the rest A. Started on mediums and took a place through the chase on each of the first 2 laps and then another one at the top of Mountain Straight on lap 3. Proceeded to put 2 seconds between myself and 5th over the next couple of laps. Decided to do 5 on the mediums to stay in clean air and that worked a treat. Came out in p6 with 2 cars in front still to pit. By the end of lap 7 every one has been in and I’m 6 seconds behind 3rd and 3 seconds in front of 5th. Nice and smooth from there to finish p4.

DR is up to 47k @Redneckchef the magical A+ is in my sights.

I had seen your other post on the TCS poll about how you, (TCS 3), are consistently better over another driver using TCS 0 and I agree that using TCS does help and sometimes it's required at some tracks like Bathurst. In beginning I was constantly spinning myself at the last and first turns (90 deg to the left) until I set my TCS to 3.
Thank you.

Yeah, that strategy was definitely not the right one. You can manage 6 laps on the softs, but really only when you have the lighter fuel load on the 2nd stint.

Also, TC 0. Never use TC on Gr3 cars.

The grip is the main reason I'll use it next week. The Leguna Seca race I remember the FFs were struggling in the final few laps. I would make up positions in the end and not have to worry about them catching back up. I'm hoping the same applies to Suzuka. I'm also sure the skilled FF drivers can pull this race off with minimal problems.
