I actually went with that shot out of frustration... This track is not very photo mode friendly, at least to me, and I settled for this because I couldn't get a shot of the entire care to look good.

I do love that Alfa front end though...

If it was black with tan leather I'd be nursing a semi.

Hope it makes more than one lap before breaking down. :nervous:

I can't disagree one bit...

I'm still impatiently waiting for the Giulietta to land on our shores, and I mean the real thing, made in Italy, not some bastardized hack job made by a bunch of rednecks in 'Merica... I know I'll be waiting forever.

Supposed to be this year or next year isn't it? They're in bed with Mazda now too and there supposedly is an Alfa-ized MX-5 in the works. THAT should be true carporn.

I keep reading about the 4C coming at the end of 2013, and then the Giulia in '14 to compete with 3 Series and A4. I've not read much about the Mazda collaboration but it sounds like the Giulietta is kind of a mute point now that the Dart is out, which is really unfortunate...

If there's one thing Chrysler's good at it's messing things up. Look at the Crossfire, ruined a perfectly good Merc. :(

Target for June 3rd, 2013

Track: Eiger Nordwand Short (Regular)

Target: 1:25.000

Tires: CM/CS

Max Speed: 99 mph , 160 km/h

NO AWD PERMITTED THIS WEEK
LOL

I ran my Megane late yesterday and thought about proposing this target:

1'25.500
CM/CS
99 mph

No joke. Needless to say, I'm satisfied with the target and it won't be much more work to be ready for next week (my best yesterday was 1'25.3, so I might already be there). 👍

To be fair to Perez, it was Raikkonen who turned in early and squeezed Perez into the wall. Perez was at least trying to overtake which I applaud. His overtake on Button was sublime, his move on Alonso was clean though underhanded, and his move on Kimi was ambitious but it has to be said he didn't initiate the contact.

Perez was pretty far back to be attempting a pass in that corner... It was a dive bomb at best. Kimi had the line and made one move to defend his position, which he's more than right to do. Perez was too hot into the corner and had no chance of getting through without cutting the chicane even if Raikkonen had moved aside and conceded the position.

I'd say his moves on Button and Alonso were just as risky... I kept saying to myself that it was only a matter of time before he collected someone, I'm just surprised he only took out one car in the process.

Not to mention after the fact, he nearly took out his teammate again and a couple of others trying to race with a crippled car.

I'm honestly baffled as to why he wasn't penalized... I've seen the FIA hand out "causing a collision" and "avoidable contact" penalties for much less than what Perez dished out.

^ +1. None of his passes were legal under the OLR. :sly: The first few were borderline legit but unwise, the one with Kimi was just foolish and he should have been penalized like RoGro was.

There is a huge difference in what is acceptable in OLR and what is acceptable in single-seaters because of a difference in visibility. Many of the greatest overtakes in F1 history (especially at Monaco) would be frowned upon in OLR. Listen to the reaction of the commentators after this:

Also, "the pass" at Laguna Seca that American racing fans are very proud of is not even close to OLR legal. (jump to 4:30)

These are just two examples of celebrated moves that are not too dissimilar to what Perez tried. If you get it right, you are a hero. If not, an idiot. :dunce:

I think the OLR reference was made in jest, at least I didn't take it seriously...

I knew too but I just ran with it anyway. I think the point I really want to make is that the Button pass is most similar to the Heidfeld on Alonso pass, and it was brilliant. I don't think it's fair to revise opinion of his earlier moves based on what happened with Raikkonen later (which I think has shared blame, and the stewards seem to have agreed with me).

It was in jest. But when I watch real racing now I can't help but criticize some of the moves I see, even when the commentators declare it "an amazing move".

I don't think I get the Trucker Clock reference? :(

EDIT: Perez's first move was ok, his pass on Alonso was rather spectacular, but they were clearly close calls and a wise driver would have quit while he was ahead and not keep doing it on every lap until he crashed. After the first few races he was criticized for not being aggressive enough and this is all a direct result of that because now he's trying to show that he can be aggressive (even when it's not wise).

My opinion of him driving like 🤬 has pretty much been the same since the beginning of the season, so nothing to revise there. Actually, since he was at Sauber as well, but especially since he bought himself a seat at McLaren and suddenly became too big for his britches.

He's just another RoGro or Maldonado that needs to be put in his place so he'll figure out that his poop stinks just the same as everyone else.

I can agree with you there. He really went out of control last year at Suzuka, Abu Dhabi and USA. He has been too aggressive. It's as if the pressure has gotten to his head since the McLaren deal got done.
