Wow, very happy to see a D3 discussion. :dopey:
Im currently a 56 barb act 2 hell mode.
I'll be playing most of the day today and late tonight. Catch you guys around, maybe I'll be able to help, maybe just craft some gear (lvl 10 blacksmith with a few rare recipes).
Later! :)

Remember, Inferno isn't about beating it, that's arguably pointless unless you want the achievements. Can you comfortably kill the elite/champion packs, no matter their affix? Most of the grinding in Inferno right now is avoiding most of the elite packs, and just restarting the game in the hope that you get packs with affixes that aren't terrible.

I can handle many of the packs I've dealt with, only 1 pack has had me completely avoid it in the past 20 or so runs I've been doing.

Honestly, you are going to have to kite and play much more carefully regardless of gear or class in Inferno. That is kind of the point.

Still working on act 1 nightmare, started relying on the auction house to help get decent gear. I'm wondering, who are you guys using as mercs?

Azuremen
What class are you playing again?

Still just the monk.

As a monk the enchantress is by far your best choice. Monks are extremely tanky and have very high sustain due to the resistances the healing mantra grants, as well as their heals and CC with blinding flash. You can just stack up a single resistance since all of your resistances get converted to the rating of your highest rated resistance. I think this talent is called "One for all" or something.

Some even run monks with a shield in inferno. I've seen some videos, it's crazy how much damage some of these players can take.

What specifically about her? Mine has a crappy staff so she's not doing much damage. I like the little attack speed buff though.

Another question, do you guys actually bid on items? I'm finding that I just do the buyout price. Never want to wait to get the item.

Just stack intelligence items on the enchantress. For spells I'm going for pure damage with her, coupled with the hex spell.

I haven't bought anything from the auction house yet. I'm not planning either on it as of yet since I'm only playing Nightmare difficulty and I'm not struggling with anything right now.

Just missed a golden opportunity at a legendary chestpiece with 12,000 gp buyout. Someone got it right before I did.

It doesn't matter what you put on your follower for a weapon, they will always do really bad damage. Their spells and buffs are where they are useful. For items, just place gold/magic find on them, you get 20% of it added to your character when they are following you.

What were the stats? Most legendaries suck.

Usually goes for about 50k.

Doesn't change that they are generally inferior to Rares at the same level. I have a handful of Legendary items just for the hell of it, but they often get replaced on new characters by Blues pretty quick. However, they do look fairly cool when equipped, especially the Sources for Wizards.

I haven't bid on items much, but I can see myself doing it a bit more now that my Wizard is level 60 and in need of better gear. And for that kind of gear, it is bid or buy it now for a few hundred thousand gold.

Managed to get my Demon Hunter into Nightmare at level 29. The greater challenge wasn't dying from being under leveled a touch, but staying under leveled by avoiding many engagements :P Also got my Monk into Nightmare, and completed a Staff of Herding. Fun times.

Those molten elite mob packs are so annoying. You can't stand in the fire or you'll die. Problem is when there are 5 of them, and each one has the ability to pull you in their range an thus their puddles. :ouch:

I saw someone use a simple tactic where they just go stand in a corner, and the molten doesn't touch them. Nothing can help you though if they have vortex, you're screwed in that regard.

I got a yellow pack of Demon Tremors last night that were Fast Shielding Molten
Stupid 🤬 had like 5 minions and we found that wonderful party in a basement in A3 . If it had been a champ pack it would've been fine since there would only be 3, but noooooo, has to be a yellow and his minions.

Also, had 2 full party wipes the other day to a Wall of Fire trap :lol::lol:
Had to take a 5 minute break to recover from our tearful laughter at that one haha.

You mean the rare mobs? I don't think you can make a location list on those because the maps are randomly generated. For instance, I ran into a rare mob during Act I and then I disconnected. But when when I logged back in, the cave where I found the rare mob in was no longer on the map.

My apologies, I wasn't more clear. I meant special events like the Eternal War in Act I, or Wheel of Misfortune in Act II. They are listed in the Achievements menu, under Campaign, in each Act sub tab. I know they spawn in specific area's of each Act, but I don't know what those area's are. And then of course there's the matter of actually getting them to spawn, which is totally random. Some of these events are pretty rare. You just have to keep entering, and exiting the game until you get the ones you want.

Try Reflects Damage Extra Health Fast Vampiric.

Another good way today was Teleporter Fire Chains Frozen Jailer. On the Snake guys in Act 2 that you can't hit half the time.

Act 2 Inferno is hard :ouch:

I might be a bit of a pack rat.

I'm still not even through Act 2 on Normal...

(Admittedly, that's because my internet connection's been pretty volatile)

EDIT: having some real FPS issues here. Looked it up and it seems to be a common problem (GeForce 9400/9400M graphics cards on OS X). The game's become unplayable in Act 2. I got past Maghda after 15 tries and a lot of luck. It's hard to play when you're effectively interacting with a sideshow. There was a blue post on the forums 6 days ago saying they're working on an optimization update for those old chips. I hope it comes soon, because I can't go any further right now (stuck at temple escape).

It's not fun when your graphics card is listed as supported, and then you get to watch a powerpoint presentation of Diablo instead. I'm running the game at 800x600 resolution, and with all settings on the lowest they can be. I really hope this update works, because right now I feel like I got duped. In what universe is 10fps on low settings at 800x600 "supported"?

I know, I know, my fault, macs can't play games.

Why would you even bother picking up less than radiant gems? Too much money to upgrade the lower levels of gems in my opinion.

I've got a full second page on my stash for stuff I'm looking to sell on the auction house.

Also, what passives are you running?

Edit: As a side thought, I still get over how bad the story telling is. Honestly, it is kind of embarrassing when friends of mine that have never played a Diablo game ask me about it.

I just started Act 1 on Nightmare with my monk.

I have been mostly solo-ing, using an AI templar by my side since he can heal me in a jam at times.

I love the seven sided strike, the regen mantra, and the breath of heaven abilities for the monk.

I haven't really played with the auction house yet, but I assume that I will probably need to begin looking into it once I get past nightmare difficulty.

Right now I'm a lvl 36 and I tend to lean towards vitality and dexterity with my weapon/armor bonuses.

Also, the auction house is really confusing me, so don't be surprised if I start asking some noob questions about it, especially the search function...I can't figure it out. Probably doesn't help that this is my first blizzard game since Warcraft II.

After dying about 20 times last night, I finally managed to get past Belial in nightmare. Somehow I never realized you could run around and avoid the poison bombs when he bombs everything. Once I realized that, he was dead. Just one of those poison bombs kills me.

Been farming Akt 1 in Inferno for the last two days with my Barb. It's getting pretty darn easy, now that I've got a nice 500 resits all on my gear. Still need to improve it to stand a chance in act 2. Problem is, most upgrades that would grant me more resistances would severly gimp my DPS or HP.

Unless I'm literally spending million. Yuk. I might just focus on farming enough gold to buy on of those 1000+ DPS weapons with a nice bit of vitality on it. Should solve that problem nicely. The prices are coming down, too, so I ought to be able to get it by the end of the next week...

I'd say to everyone in here to not download the Diablo 3 patch as of yet. Typically Blizzard the patch is completely broken, and a lot of players have patched their games with the faulty clients by simply patching their games through the launcher. Others are experiencing severe performance issues on high end machines.

Oh dear, oh dear Blizzard...

I'm currently stuck at Belial in act 2 inferno on my barbarion. I'm able to get to his 2nd phase consistantly but he always smashes me to death. Even when it seems like I'm out of the way of his hit on the screen I still take it in the face, same with the green explosions phase, sometimes I just die even when I'm not getting hit.

I enjoy the game, but I'm not sure how long I will keep on playing after beating inferno. Act 2 inferno was ludicriously harder than act 1. Zoltan Kulle was the hardest boss I had faced in the game so far by a massive margin and Belial is just as difficult and seemingly luck based.

I have 35k health, 600-820 resists, around 16k damage depending on the spec. I watched a video of a barbarion doing it, he got amazingly lucky with those health orbs, whenever he needed one... it just popped up just like that. Wish it was that simple for me!

Server gremlins still not fixed after 2 weeks, it is annoying as hell. Last night I tried to play but the servers were giving me some crazy latency (400ms) and it was just near impossible to play, Inferno is hard enough without crazy latency.

That's really not much of a solution, you can't play Diablo III either way without the latest version. But regardless, this issue is fixed now.

Well I've made progress since my last visit.
Now at lvl 60.
Still stuck in Act 1 Inferno, though I put down the Skeleton King yesterday (which I couldn't do the day before).
Right now Im in the spot where I either spent a ton of gold to get better gear so I can go further or try it in multi-player and see if I can leech my way to the next act. :sly:

Indeed it's harder but I've seen success with another person in TS or Vent and some coordination (I'll use "mob rule" and that armor shout instead of "contempt for weakness" and Earthquake).

One of the best features of this game is the way I can play solo or multiplayer. I enjoy it much more than games like WoW or SWTOR. Too much MMORPG.

Diablo on the other hand is only a tiny bit MMORPG and very Hack'n'Slash; I'm really enjoying it.
