Went to a local Car/Rail/plane/retrotech museum today. Here's the automotive highlights.

Fair warning - many of these are blurry. I know what I did wrong, too, so no crit, please.

and you thought the Electric car was a Japanese invention? This is a Detroit Electric, '35 If I recall. Power from 48-volt Lead-acid batteries. 5-speeds forward and reverse, apparently

100_5225.jpg

The Mercedes Benz 600. This was a former Hugh Heffner Pullman...Which matters little to me. I took the pic, primairly because I remember that Jeremy Clarkson has one, and I remember that the car has the loudest production horn in the world...

Here's an odd duck. A 1917 Duryea Gem. Cute lil' cyclecar.

100_5200.jpg

Maybe you've seen one 300SL...but how about a MATCHING pair of them? a Gullwing Coupe for Him, a Roadster for Her...It's PERFECT!!!

100_5201.jpg

1988 March Indycar, the newest car on display at that time. they rotate the cars out, so it's not always the same.

100_5202.jpg

Cord 810. Awesome.

100_5203.jpg

oldest car in the collection...well, it would be if it wasn't a replica, but it's an 1893 Duryea. don't know if it runs.

100_5205.jpg

V12 Packard. Sweeeet. Why can't we build cars like this now?

well, that was my day.

and the Cord and Packard were right there with the pair. :3

Really was interesting...they also have a Steam Locomotive out front, plenty of interactive exhibits...and all for $5.50/person. Very friendly staff, too. Not a very big place, but it's fun.

RE: "Grosser": Yeah probably the case, there.

I love Cord's, one of my favourite cars of all time. The Art Deco styling is just so freakin cool.

Yes, I love them too. Especially in white with a custard cream roof, just like the old Micro Machine I used to have.

A few more from AutoEurope since I had to go to scrap out gold yesterday.

Mmmm...Alfa Giulia. Very nice. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Giulia is one of my top 5 favourite cars of all time.

Went to Maxi Price Chevrolet yesterday and Saw 2 Cyber Grey ZR1s, about 100 C6 Corvettes, a few C5's, a 58-60 C1 Vette, a 63 Vette, a 78 25th Anniversary Vette, a 78 Pace Car Vette, a Lotus Elise, and a very nice third-gen RS Camaro traded in for cash for clunkers.

This thread is worthless without pictures.

This is lovely, I badly want an old Alfa... any one of them...

Here are some old photos I took a few years back at a kit car show, some nice stuff among the reps.

This Alfa GP car took the owner 44 years to make, and apparently a bunch of followers of his project took it to themselves to custom build a matching trailer for him as celebration.

I think they're only Lotus authorized (not sure about Panoz, but certainly not the Italians).

Plural of Lotus is Lotus, FYI.

Followed this for a few miles on the A40 (if anyone knows the area, yes in the tunnel too). Driver gave a wave when I pulled up beside him at the next exit :)

Wow! Amazing this is an in the wild spot so you can put it in the other thread. 👍

Went to the multi-floor car market in Kowloon Bay today, RUE you gotta come check this place out some day, there are some very sweet cars about, and we can pop over to the SPS garage for a snoop.

Mercedes SLK 55 AMG Black Series, 99 ever made, 3 of which are in HK, and this one only has 8k miles on the clock, price is about $102,967.74 USD or £61,671.763. Half of the sticker price of a new one in HK. The owner literally drove it for half a year and is selling it...

The number of Ferraris here is just sick, the security guards weren't wild about photography so I had to be very discrete

Porsche 996 Carrera 2 dressed as a GT3, there's n orange 997 GT3 RS too, as well as dozens of other porsches, including a few very nice 993s
