Joey's post pretty much wraps up most of mine. We came across another car show though,

Yesterday I went to the car show I usually go to and I saw something pretty interesting. I was cleaning some trash out of my car when all the sudden I hear a V12 and there's a Diablo parking right next to me. I just had to take a picture, sorry for the quality, was taken with my phone.

I should bring my camera some time, there's been some interesting cars coming lately, very suprising for a show with usually 30 cars at most. There was a Citreon 2CV there yesterday and out of all my friends I was the only one that actually knew about it, my friend thought it was a Beetle that someone seriously mangled, lol.

Usually there would have been a lot more cars but we have had a ton of rain in the past week and it rained most of the day today

I was in Golden, CO last month. Bunches of classic and muscle cars were parked in little lots all up and down Ford Street.

Ran across a BMW meet, mostly E30s, while I was out getting the Civic's oil done. (Gotta have it done by shops so I can have the warranty paperwork.) Some nice old-school Bimmers out there.

I thought I already posted these but I couldn't find them. In Febuary we went to the American Speed Company which made custom hot rods but also was a holding house for Ford concepts.

Part of the Ford Prodigy, basically a Fusion

Great pics there! That must have been a thoroughly interesting day out. I can't believe the concept cars are just kept there under covers. You'd expect them to be cherished on display in a museum or something.

Thats what I was thinking. The wild part is there was a wall and behind it was about 60 more concepts, they didn't let us back there though. The funny thing is I don't really like Ford but hey, I'll take it

Such a cool looking car. Like a Lotus Cortina for the 21st century, I wish they'd put that into production.

The concept of the, well, concept is what was so interesting. Mark Newson is a industrial design superstar, yet the scrutiny that a car design is put under is from marketing suits and car stylists - a profession that hasn't changed its process in a long time. Suddenly they take a group of people who are unrelated to the auto industry that have incredibly capable thinking and research methods and put the basic brief of a family car through them. These outsider results you get can be industry-altering (not to mention it looks spiffy in all the sense of the word from the former car stylist point of view).

Take the Nissan Cube for example. It took a lot of lateral thinking and a lot of notions of car design had to be tugged away to pull off a car like that. Bring in fresh eyes. Bring in successful industrial designers who know how to generate great ideas from new concepts. The kind of people who don't have a care in the world for any of those notions of tradition.

Gotta say, those rims on the Aston are just hideous. I've always been disappointed with most of the rims British car makers have produced over the years. It's getting a bit better nowadays thank god...
