I don't know, it was spotted at the Nurb' WebCam, together with an R8...

That's certainly (probably) a CLK DTM Cabriolet - but is it a CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet? For that matter, is it a different car or is it the same one? I can't read the plate from there...

I'm given to understand that there's only one CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet. Though that might not be true.

According to AutoBlog, the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet have been built in numbers of 100.

...the worlds fastest four-seat convertible - the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet. Produced in a limited edition of 100, the car is said to be capable of "fulminating performance." Loosely based on the styling of the DTM racecars, the new droptop is motivated by the 582 hp supercharged AMG V8.

While we were out grabing brunch for mothers day, saw this in the lot:

Pretty rare for my area, still with dealer plates on it

Excuse the hand, not mine of course

Have we ever tried to figure out who has the most-rare car?

I know my Panoz would be in the running...

I know mine would be too:

But other than that, the veyrons and enzos are like cupcakes compared to one off cars. Sure you can go out and put out an order for one of those cars, but you have to wait a while to get one. A one off car is something special that you only have. IMO, one off cars are the rarest, because they are 1/1 and not 1/200

I know that my rarest spot is a Ferrari 365 GTS/4, of which 139 were manufactured and about 80 reached US shores. That's also my most expensive spot, as a conservative guess puts it at $550,000. I've also seen a Lamborghini Gallardo Nera (185 made; 60 US), two Bentley Azure Mulliners (154 made) and a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit III (211 made).

I've also seen two Maybach 57S's, of which only about 100 had been manufactured at the time of my photos, though many more will exist in the future. Same goes for the Phantom LWB I saw last month.

I think about 250 Panoz AIV Roadsters were manufactured in sum.

*McLaren*
True, but you have to admit man. It's going to be incredibly hard to actually spot such vehicles. 288 GTOs have become rare art pieces. Only a very few who own one on F-Chat drive their's every few days.

A fellow in Colorado owns and drives one of the few 288 GTOs in the nation. I'd kill to see it - who knows.

Famine
And I spotted an Enzo and a Veyron simultaneously.

Given the circumstances of that 'spot,' I would not consider it in keeping with the rules of the thread. Personally, I wouldn't count it, but my rules may be more strict than others'.

I think the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet would be up there. Being 1 of 1.

Not sure what you're thinking of here - there are more than a few CLK DTM Cabriolets. Perhaps you're thinking of the CLK-GTR Roadster, of which five were built, although no one in this thread has spotted such a vehicle (I know one is in the Middle East, and at least one is in Monaco).

I know mine would be too:

Rare but not rare enough - about 600 Esperantes have been manufactured since production began. I've seen two. And, production of those is continuous so it gets less rare every day...

I was standing on a motorway bridge over 150 miles from a car meet. I agree that I knew some expensive metal was likely on the way past, but so are you when you go to your hotel...

I was informed that the numbers of CLK DTMs that were cabriolets and AMG tuned were low (as in "1"). Clearly that information was in error.

Today's spots were miniscule:

prowler-051207.jpg

Prowler, same one from a few days ago. Dealer plates, no bumpers.

m5-051207.jpg

Best wheel/color combination I've ever seen on a new M5 - I normally don't photograph them, but wow this one was beautiful.

roush_mustang-051207.jpg

Roush Mustang.

I'll try harder later.

A fair point, the difference being that when I go spotting on Saturdays in Atlanta, while I can be assured of that Phantom, nothing else is a certainty, and much of it requires significant legwork. Essentially - I don't know that I'll see any good cars. However, standing on a highway bridge as Gumball goes by below you is, in my view, a certainty - akin to a car show or a dealer. Again - most people would probably count your spots, but to me it makes it too easy.

I understand now - I hadn't made the distinction between CLK DTM Cabriolet and AMG - I thought they were one in the same.

Maybe so - though the route was by no means that by which the Gumballers were travelling. As it happens, a significant section of the field went by an alternate route which bypassed us by some 20 miles. Which meant I missed out on a 250GTO.

Nuts.

I know the 250 GTO is the best Ferrari ever - but wouldn't you rather the Veyron + Enzo shot?

I saw a Prowler today also. It was red too. That makes the 3rd Prowler I've seen in the past 3-4 weeks. What colors did they come in? I know yellow, red, black, and silver, but are there any others or have I seen them all?

There was a gold color as well.

This is what wiki says
* Prowler Purple Metallic
* Prowler Yellow Clear Coat
* Prowler Black Clear Coat
* Prowler Red Clear Coat
* Woodward Edition (Two-tone Black/Red)
* Prowler Silver Metallic
* Black Tie Edition (Two-tone Black/Silver)
* Orange Pearl Coat
* Midnight Blue Pearl Coat - Mulholland Edition
* Inca Gold Pearl Coat
* Deep Candy Red Pearl Coat
* High Voltage Blue Pearl Coat - Conner Avenue Edition

They came in tons of colors - as the years went on they just kept adding colors. Have you seen the famous purple?

For the record, on AutoTrader presently they have 152 for sale - on simply page one, the following colors come up:
- black
- blue (dark)
- gold
- purple
- red (Prowler red)
- red (darker red)
- silver
- yellow

Out of those listed, I've seen black, blue, gold, purple, Prowler red (I'm assuming because it was a bretty bright color), silver and yellow. They seem to be fairly common around here. I absolutely love the things and wouldn't mind owning one one day.

Edit: Here's what Wikipedia says about the colors

Wikipedia
* Prowler Purple Metallic
* Prowler Yellow Clear Coat
* Prowler Black Clear Coat
* Prowler Red Clear Coat
* Woodward Edition (Two-tone Black/Red)
* Prowler Silver Metallic
* Black Tie Edition (Two-tone Black/Silver)
* Orange Pearl Coat
* Midnight Blue Pearl Coat - Mulholland Edition
* Inca Gold Pearl Coat
* Deep Candy Red Pearl Coat
* High Voltage Blue Pearl Coat - Conner Avenue Edition
(only one of which was produced and auctioned at Christie's)

So I know I've seen every color except for the special High Voltage blue and the Deep Candy Red Pearl.

How much did these things retail for anyway? They are still going for like $35k + on autotrader.com

Obviously a beautiful car, but doesn't quite have the aggressive look of Ferraris of a similar age (although I suppose it's quite a bit more aggressive than the 456). Still, of course, a wonderful spot.
More aggresive? Yes. Better looking? No way.

I know mine would be too:

Sorry, the Porsche had me captivated there for a second. What was the red car again? :D

Good sighting. 👍

In comparison, you've obviously seen rarer cars than I. But my rarest would probably still be the MC12 (How many are stateside? Less than 6 was what I last heard) even though I caught the VTTT as well.

A fellow in Colorado owns and drives one of the few 288 GTOs in the nation. I'd kill to see it - who knows.
There was a yellow one that was serviced at Ferrari of Dallas during the FCA Show last year. I pray he'll be back. A 288GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo picture would definately make my day. We'll see in June though.

The one in Monaco is a showroom piece. Plus, there's a lot rarer vehicles in Monaco. ;)

Yes - but I'm wondering if they're going to be offered on the M5 now - they should be; it makes it look a lot better. Temporary plates, so maybe it's the wave of future M5s.
I'll check for you with my salesman, but I doubt it.

So I know I've seen every color except for the special High Voltage blue and the Deep Candy Red Pearl.

You sure you've seen that dark blue? The Mulholland Edition models are pretty rare.

More aggresive? Yes. Better looking? No way.

Time was I'd have agreed with you. Then I saw a 456 on the road. In pictures, it's graceful and beautiful - on the road it looks like a Camry. Prior to June 2006, when I saw my first one, it was my dream Ferrari - a must-own. After three sightings, it's a vehicle I don't plan on ever owning. Not enough presence, not enough awesome. Yes, it's better than the 612, but I'd rather a 612 - at least it's noticeable.

456-030307-2.jpg

Altima, SC430, some boring coupe, semi truck

When I took that photo, I was with a friend who wouldn't believe it was a Ferrari - admittedly it's a bad color for the car. Not until after I showed her photos later did she finally believe me. Boring and with age it's only going to look more boring.

Famine
I think it was back on page 44 or 45... But okay then:

Hell Famine - post that picture on every page and we wouldn't mind - just because I wouldn't count it as a 'sighting' officially doesn't mean it's not one of the very best pictures in this thread.

*McLaren*

One problem with my 'rare' spots is that they're all rare as trim levels, but not as actual vehicles. Yes, the 365 GTS/4 is rare, but only as a convertible - if you included the coupes, they made many Daytonas. Yes, the Azure Mulliner is rare, but there are many Azures out there. Gallardo Nera is uncommon, indeed, but as a rule Gallardos are everywhere. Just once I'd like to see a car - like the MC12 - which is rare in absolute terms. Six seems about right - there's one registered in Oregon that keeps getting spotted in Canada; we all know about the one in Michigan - how many are in Texas?

I thought a Mclaren F1 was spotted in Melbourne Australia and posted in this thread (Casio if I remember correctly spotted it) and another shortly after in England somewhere?

It wasn't I. I remember it was a gray one outside the Melbourne International Motor Show. Early march I guess. I believe it was genuine, although, it was at a Motor Show.

Well i think the rarest 2 cars ive seen were;

Ford racing puma, which was limited to 500 in the UK only, of which TWO reside in my area! :D

Wheels not taken care of...tut tut 👎

This one looks mint though 👍

Niether of them are registered on The Racing Puma Owners Club

And the Vauxhall astra 888 coupé, which was limited to 200 in the UK only.

Oddly enough they're both blue too :)
