Saw this car at a dealership a month ago.

If the SLR can't be respected simply because it's heavy and runs an automatic then I'm going to have to disagree.

The SLR, automatic transmission and female driver or not, is an awesome car.

This all makes me think of a line from a certain steely dan song... "you wouldn't know a diamond if..." :sly:

Note to Kent: read all posts on topic before making comment.

In the prior post on the subject, I very clearly stated:

"Yes - very much so - originally I thought it was ugly, underpowered (for the price - considering that an SL65 has the same power output for $250,000 less) and for women (automatic) but I've really come around recently. It's an incredible automobile, and it's got some incredible characteristics. I've seen just one - I wish I could see more." (emphasis added) Only jokingly did I then make the female driver comment.

kikie - the Wiesmann shots aren't coming up.

Thanks kikie - I see the shots now. Matt, keep getting the Atlanta spots while I'm gone!

Today's spots:

z8-051207.jpg

This is a different Z8 from the one I saw yesterday. Denver is just full of these things. You have to love the Z8 - a friend and I agreed that what it lacked in anything else it made up in sheer good looks. The rear's not the best, but the front is breathtaking.

Acura NSX.

Took those two photos (of a Ferrari F430 Spider, for those of you not in the know) and as I was doing so I noticed what appeared to be a child seat in the passenger side:

f430_spider-051207-2.jpg

As I was leaving, the owner came out with his young daughter - and put her in the child seat! I remember being strapped into the child seat of my parents' 1981 Volkswagen Jetta - not quite the same thing!

Shelby GT500E "Eleanor." Texas 'untitled vehicle' plate, meaning a Texas purchase for an out-of-state title transfer (hopefully to Colorado). These are rare, expensive, and pretty cool, I must admit.

When I was a kid I wish my parents would have had something that cool, no I had to ride around in a early 80's Supra that belonged to my mom.

Since everyone has been talking about the SLR, probably about half-way through this last semester, I had seen one on the northside of campus. Had just walked out of class and before I knew a SLR had gone right on by. If I remember correctly, a woman was driving it. Did not see what plates were on it though, as I was more excited that I got to see one. I have to say they are absolutely a ton better looking in person. My opinion of them definitely changed after seeing one.

What i saw today.....

e39 M5

993 beside a really questionable stratus

996 Carrera4S

SLK55

Ive been playing tourist trophy for a while now but i still dont know what this is:indiff:
GSXR1000? 600? 750?

Two e36 M3's side by side

bad pic but R32 skyline

Had to have come from Unique Performance then. It's amazing how nice the coupe is while the GT500E Conv. isn't as nice, style wise.

Bleh. I hate it when I don't have a camera......

Today I saw....

20 odd Mercedes S-Classes
Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante (1977-89)
An entire dealership of Astons.
A Maybach,Mercedes dealer.
Porsche 993
1973 Mustang Convertible
Black BMW Z8 (My god it was amazing.)

Yeah. I saw more S-Classes than Camrys while in Cold Spring Harbor.

Yes - Unique Performance is the manufacturer. Vehicle lists for $120,000.

Tonight:

viper-051207.jpg

Esprit V8 and a very early Viper with late 1993 plates (one owner!!). I've seen both vehicles before, but it's been at least a year and a half with the Lotus. Great cars both. Also saw this:

sienna-051207.jpg

Someone is, perhaps, a bit too proud of their minivan?

I saw a black Porsche 911 GT3 RS today. I was in shock. By far the nicest car Ive ever seen in person. It had the orange rims and all. Very beautiful car.

Same here. I've seen a handful, but always at shows. Although seeing Famine viewing the thread reminds me that he's probably got a shot of one on the Gumball.

This will NOT be 56k friendly. Photobucket frowns upon thumbnails.

Danny, when viewing your Photobucket account, click the URL tag underneath the tumbnail to copy the URL link and paste it into the attached. Then right click the thumbnail and copy the thumbnail image link (.../th_[file name].jpg) in. Then copy and paste the whole caboodle into GTP, and viola, Photobucket thumbnails.

Or just post huge images and make 56kers hate you.

He probably has. My dad saw one on the roads here in the UK but I wasn't with him....:grumpy: Why am I never in the right place at the right time to see the nice cars. Although I do usually (in Summer) see a Aston Martin DB7 Vnatage on the way to school but I never have my camera....

Some time ago I started to go through the thread to total up all the cars that had been spotted, but I gave up. I'm pretty sure we have most supercars, but I can't recall an Enzo spot in this thread, and we're missing a few others too - a McLaren F1, a Ferrari F50. However, we have nailed down lots of incredible cars - SLR, Carrera GT, F40, a few Diablos, Murcielago Roadsters, Vanquishes, ... the list could go on. Collectively we're doing amazingly!

and we're missing a few others too - a McLaren F1,

I thought a Mclaren F1 was spotted in Melbourne Australia and posted in this thread (Casio if I remember correctly spotted it) and another shortly after in England somewhere?

X5 spotted an Enzo in London this time last year.

Like VIPER said, someone spotted a blue one in England. Someone else also spotted one in Australia.

And I could have sworn you caught an Enzo at 3-car Ferrari show.

Those photos were posted without explanation and I presumed they had simply been taken from another site.

Can't believe I forgot that!

*McLaren*

Alas, shows don't count! Also saw a 288 GTO and F50 - two other vehicles which have eluded the participants in this thread, myself included.

Have we ever tried to figure out who has the most-rare car?

I know my Panoz would be in the running...

True, but you have to admit man. It's going to be incredibly hard to actually spot such vehicles. 288 GTOs have become rare art pieces. Only a very few who own one on F-Chat drive their's every few days.
