yeah it was infront of the rogers center...

And thats my friends civic in the background:)

He loves lambos so we had to stop and take pictures:tup:

Its cool that the owner allowed you guys to sit in it. Some rich people can be real snobs :indiff:

And is it just me or is the steering wheel in the gallardo turned more than 180 deg while the front wheels are only slightly off centered? Is this normal for lambos? :scared:

Anyways, heres what i saw in the last 2 days..........

Cayman, not sure if its the S

Doggy smart car?

996 Turbo Cabrio

Alpina B7. Ive seen everything from ferrari's to lambo's to RR's but i have never seen an alpina on the streets before

Wow you serious? There is plenty of them here (old ones mid to late 60's). Not all that common but not all that rare either.

Yep. :ouch: Last time i saw one was 3 days ago, it just drove right past my house like any other car. Would have been a good spot if i took some photos. :nervous:

As always, the first night back in my hometown proves very nice for me:

Or if you prefer:

db7_volante-051007.jpg

For those of you wondering what that is, I think it's some type of Jaguar.

xke-051007.jpg

And for those of you wondering what THAT is, it looks like something James Bond drove - an Aston Martin perhaps?

Oh I am so funny.

Anyone help me identify this?:

A baja Bug! :D

And i saw three of these:

took about 10 minutes before traffic could start flowing again. its amazing how huge they are, you only realise when you see them from this far away!

The first one is an Aston Martin DB7 roadster. The second is an E-Type?

You suck. F-- No, that was not attempting to get around the swear filter.

Excited for me to see the a V8 Vantage Roadster?

Speaking of exotics, and Astons, here are some of today's spots:

db9-051007.jpg

Here's a DB9 I've never seen before in Denver, although as a rule DB9s are pretty common - this is my 20th DB9 spot (tenth in Denver), and my 9th closed-roofer (fifth in Denver). Still looking for a Vanquish. :(

360_spider-051007.jpg

Speaking of common, here's a 360 Spider. Colorado plates, but I've never seen this one before in Denver, either. It's another car that's pretty common in general - this is my 32nd 360 spot, and my 16th soft top (15 coupes + 1 Challenge Stradale [which is a coupe] make up the remainder).

348ts-051007.jpg

348ts-051007-4.jpg

From the not-so-common file, here's a Ferrari 348ts, the successor to the 328 and the predecessor to the 355. Only my fourth one of these, and my first black one, although oddly I've never seen the other two 348 bodystyles. Check out the license plate frame:
348ts-051007-2.jpg

Other random decent spots from today in the Denver area:

nsx-051007.jpg

A one-owner NSX at a gas station. The owner was a middle-aged man who can't be too happy with his resale value. Or his wheels.

prowler-051007.jpg

prowler-051007-2.jpg

I'm the only one in the world who likes these things, but damn I like them. What the hell is up with the rear bumper? Dealer plates on this bad boy.

smart-051007.jpg

Never saw one in Atlanta, but there are a few buzzing around Denver. Never "officially" sold here, but in my view they were. Extremely expensive, though.

Oh, I dunno. I'm sure hes quite a bit happier than the man who bought the 348, and quite a bit sadder than the man with the 360 Spyder.

The Prowler was a car made of 100% Win. If it had the manual out of the Stratus it would have been made of 100% Glorious Win, and that flaw is the only thing I can actually think of that was wrong with it.
And the bumpers being removed is a popular aftermarket change. It also makes the front and rear of the car 5000% and 3000% better, respectively.

Fun fact: The Smart is the most expensive car per cubic foot on that page, and is worth at least 7 times what that Buick was worth new (not necessarily what it was sold for new). I also find it comical that the guy could, in theory, park his Smart in the back of that truck.

I love the Prowler, if only they could have made Plymouth like that as a whole... It should have been the Plymouth PT Cruiser. That way we'd still have it. :grumpy:

I don't think a single mass volume seller and a car with exclusivity that outdid the Viper would have been enough to save Plymouth when every other car was essentially the Mercury to Dodge's Ford, barring the Neon which was 100% exactly like the Dodge.

From the past few days:

1) Chrysler Crossfire Roadster
070508155301nu4.jpg

They were so popular, Chrysler had to stop building them in 2006!

2) Odd Couple: AMG S-Class (probably a 55) and a C6 Z51
070510144124dh0.jpg

3) Chevrolet SSR:
070509211454tl4.jpg

No matter how much people didn't like them, I still think they were cool. The late models with the LS2 and the T56 were awesome, but it is a shame they didn't start building them that way from the beginning...

4) Cadillac Allante:
070510160634kh5.jpg

Thats right, they're rare in Michigan too...

Wow you saw an Allante? I can't remember the last time I came across one of those.

Either way, they were no Prowler. Hell, they were no Thunderbird either.

I never understood why people hated the Allante so much. No, they weren't particularly good cars, but the only major problem with them was the early HT engines. Still, they were on par with the Chrysler TC (though they didn't look as nice). They also destroyed the LeBaron, and who didn't love that? Communists, that's who.

As an aside, are Buick Reattas rare?

That's not a Ferrari! That's a Fiero!

When I was little there used to be this black Fiero near my house, and what with only seeing the back of it, and having seen a 348 before, and the horselike symbol, and the not knowing what a Fiero was, and the quad exhausts, I thought it was a Ferrari

As an aside, are Buick Reattas rare?

1) That Cavalier is one of my Boss' whips. He hates the thing, and is looking to get rid of it. The rust is getting pretty bad, and the Z/24 suffers the same issue that most of the same styles did: Rust from the center of the door down, due to water getting caught-up in the side cladding.

2) The Reattas are around, but the Allante is definitely more rare than the Buick. A cousin of mine had a Reatta for some time, but he got rid of it not too long ago. If I'm not mistaken, the last of the Oldsmobile Toronados were the same car, and I definitely liked those better... Especially the Troféo models...

Oh, I dunno. I'm sure hes quite a bit happier than the man who bought the 348, and quite a bit sadder than the man with the 360 Spyder.

Depends - if the 360 Spider was bought by someone not on the original waiting list he probably paid nearly $300,000 for the privilege, which sucks since these days it's running $150,000. If, however, he did buy it new, then he should be jumping up and down, as he paid about $170,000 for a car that's now worth $150,000 four years later. If I lost 10% on the value of my Tribute in four years, then next year it'd be worth $21,000!

Never seen such a thing - I much prefer it with the bumpers on.

2) Odd Couple: AMG S-Class (probably a 55) and a C6 Z51

Unless the S-class is a 2001 model, which would be unlikely, it's probably a simple S430 or S500 with the aftermarket AMG package.

2) The Reattas are around, but the Allante is definitely more rare than the Buick.

Presently on AutoTrader, there are more than double the amount of Allantes as Reattas. The Reatta is the significantly rarer car, and if you happen to catch a convertible version of the Reatta, make sure to look it up and down, because you'll never see another. Allantes are around - Reattas are simply not. Here's a shot of both vehicles in a junkyard in eastern Colorado:

012-cars.jpg

That is an expensive spot - the Allante is a rare Northstar model (made only in 1993) and those can get up to $50,000 in perfect shape; the Reatta is a convertible, which can run nearly $40,000 in great condition, and that little red car behind them all, though worth only about a third as much, is probably the coolest. But Toronado can tell you more about that. On with my evening sightings:

360_spider-051007-2.jpg

Same 360 Spider as last night, different place. I hope I see this thing all over this summer - it's a great-looking car.

arnage-051007.jpg

Arnage; saw it in the same place over Spring Break. Still hate the rapper-esque wheels.

viper_srt10-051007.jpg

Viper SRT-10.

Other decent spots this evening:

And finally, an odd one:
bentleys_jaguars-051007.jpg

I know the image is a bit shaky (daan used to admonish me for driving and taking pictures - how about driving, being on the phone, AND taking pictures) but how about that - new Bentley + old Bentley and new Jaguar + old Jaguar.

Thanks for the comments harry - I agree about Turbo S Cabriolets - a vehicle I had never heard of until recently - I've seen three or four in the last few months, which is crazy because they had to be the most expensive 996, barring the GT2.

It's definitely odd, like they were trying to unload them or something. I'd be interested in a deal....

From the Denver Nuggets vs San Antonio Spurs at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on April 28, 2007:

http://photos-897.ak.facebook.com/p.../110/1075200114/n1075200114_30014897_9291.jpg

If that is indeed Veyron #1, that find would be extremely hard to beat. The Corvette, on the other hand, is something that's already been beaten -- with the ugly stick. There's no part of that that looks right.

Did they at least do well, or tiptoe their way around the track? :)

Lotus Elise (no stickers so I guess it's not an Exige), Legnum VR-4 and Evo V, Ferrari 550 Maranello (super-loud exhaust!)

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/4990/mnorrrecarsff3.jpg

Also took some shots yesterday but I'll post them when I get home. In the mean time is there such thing as a Brabus 6.5 (last gen S-Class)??

That Elise looks very much the Exige, although I'm it could be equivalent aftermarket parts. As for the Brabus 6.5, the only "6.5" I could find is the SLK 6.5 (V8). The previous S-class seems to only have come in 6.9 and 7.3/7.3S models. This is probably an S55 with Brabus upgrades, including the neat badge.

Judging by what looks to be the extended lower edge of the front bumper, it's a Cayman S. (Although for some reason it looks unpainted. The wheels are available on both models.)

No, I like them too. They should be re-released with a "hemi" V8, but they're cool enough as is. Not crazy about removing the bumpers, though, as it makes it look too much like a rat rod...which I guess is the point....

And speaking of points, I have a few:

Fiat X1/9

Last time I saw this, it was a yellow rustbucket. Now it's just yellow. Nice restoration, but how's the engine?

Peugeot 505 STI

Must be another ricer trying to harsh in on the STI thing.... ;)

Hummer H2 stretch

I thought I was imagining things when this thing passed me, and then kept passing me.

Mazda Protoge Mazdaspeed

He actually revved at me before passing, then realized my car wasn't a badge job. Much more well-behaved after that.

Chevrolet Corvette 1968

All the muscle cars are apparently coming out of hiding this spring, far more than in previous years. This is one of three (maybe four) gas station/garages that do a lot of classic muslce tuneups & restoration. No dedicated places for that kind of work, though; not that I'm aware of.

Bentley Continental GT

The woman who got out of this was...well, she was just adorable. :D

Audi S6

Not as common as the S4 (which is almost outselling the A4 1.8T), but far more popular than the one-in-4-months S8.

Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG

Not as cute as the Bentley driver. Just...just not. *shudder*

Saleen Mustang S281E Supercharged

This and an unspecified yellow S281 drive through town every day, but rarely park. The yellow one is louder, leading me to think it's an Extreme. I'll find it eventually.

As promised, from the file of Nearly Useless Photos:

Ferrari "three oh something-or-other"

I think it's a 308. Since I wasn't driving, I had just about no time to catch this. Nice focus on the rear window, though, right? 👍

Aston Martin DB9 Volante

For two miles, he was three cars behind me. Arrive at this traffic light, and he zips ahead to turn right at the last minute. You can just just make out the wheels, tail, and canvas top.

Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG

Did not see it until it zipped by me to exit. I was stuck in traffic (not shown in photo), so if I actually thought to wait just one more second, you could at least have seen the quad tailpipes. But here we have a photo that neatly covers all possible markings of the AMG: exhaust, badges, blurry wheels. Only the hint of some silvery stuff behind the front wheel gives it away. Gotta appreciate the high-quality focus on the dashboard, though. Go Harry! Super-👍!

And I know I'm making a long post even longer, but I thought basketball fans might appreciate this:

Can't say who it was, since he doesn't know I took the photos (the name's on the other side).

Looks like I'll have to ride my bike to Newark in the near future. I know where a guy works who owns one. Down the road from the Salvation Army, ironically.

What in hell junkyard in Colorado has a Chrysler TC by Maserati, an Allante and a Reatta all within 50 feet of each other?

And none of them are on fire! Of course, both Bentleys probably use the same engine design that was first used before the building of the Berlin Wall, so I'm sure they got all of the kinks worked out.
That E-Type looks like the same one from before, too.

Brabus also did a 6.5 on the E-class, with the 4.2-liter V8, and since they build to spec I'm sure they would do an S with whatever the 6.5 is. I bet it's genuine.

Thanks for the shots - had to comment on this one - that would be a 328 GTS - speaking of which, I've just realized that you're obviously some sort of thief, breaking into athletes' homes and photographing their championship rings (or automobiles). What else could explain all the photos where you're 'not driving' (the wheelman is) and all the cars from 'someone's' garage (the people you're robbing)? :D I'm on to you, DeNiro!

Toronado

The Arnage uses the same engine design as the Brooklands, but remember the Flying Spur is running the 6-liter W12 also found in that large Passat thing.

The vehicles in the junkyard photo were involved in a fire at a car collector's garage. I left a note on the vehicles stating I was interested and the man called me that evening, quoting $6000 apiece for the vehicles. The seats in the Allante alone - in perfect shape - run a tenth of that. Sadly he called me on a calling card (his area code was different from mine) and my caller ID picked up the calling card rather than his real number, which I never got, presuming I had the correct one on my caller ID. As a result, I could never call him back, and, since I promised him a call back, he never called me back. The junkyard is three hours from my home and at the time (nearly a year ago) I was beginning a month-long roadtrip and was unable to go back to the junkyard. Buying the cars would've been a great investment (the Cadillac and the Buick ran and drove), and I'll always think about letting them get away.
