The local police station is like a 2min drive from my house. They've gotten a few of the new chargers and they look quite nice. But a majority of the fleet still consists of crown vics and some impalas.

Here is what i saw today

I dont recall ever seeing an S3 before. Not an expensive car but i was shocked at how sexy it looks, even compared to the S6 and RS4. The license plate nicely describes how i feel about it

z06

M6 - its not easy taking pics of moving cars in the oncomming lane

Nice spot on the S3 - those are not sold in the states, but perhaps so in Canada. And I absolutely love his license plate - another Audi owner who shares the love of automatic transmissions.

VERY good spot - never seen one to this day. A definite +rep - I think we do have some more of those in this thread, but two at the very most (in 5,200 posts). And two might be generous. Thanks for sharing - California seems to be the only place where these things exist!

Thanks!

EDIT:

Ultimatecarpage.com
Production of the steaply priced Mangusta lasted just two years, with 276 cars completed. Of these 276, just 18 were allocated to Europe, of which the featured s/n '051' is one. The Mangusta rights were sold once more, this time to MG/Rover, forming the base of the MG XPower SV supercar.

If anyone in europe sees one, my hats off to you

Now that you've mentioned it, i went on Wiki

Audi has stated the S3 will not be sold in North/South America. Reasons range from pricing and competition with the Volkswagen Golf R32 and/or stealing sales from the new Audi TT and due to cost effectiveness in the North American market.

So i wonder how this car got here. On a closer look, the front grill was made for euro plates

Could've been a badge job. They did sell the A3 3.2 S-Line in the states which has the same mounting point on the front grille for the S badge. However the badge in your shot is clearly S3, and the front air dam is unquestionably from true blue S3.

This is the first Charger police car I've seen, and it looks positively mean.
I've also spotted AA-22, which was issued on January 1, 1977 and is still on the road, and 001-AAA, which was the first plate of Colorado's current design, though I saw that one way back in 2001, predating my digital camera.
Our city has a bunch of them, but again, black with no light bar. I'm surprised it took so long for your city to get them, considering all the cars you see daily.

My own spots were interesting, though exotic cars weren't out in force today.

For one:

charger_pd-053007.jpg

This is the first Charger police car I've seen, and it looks positively mean. Out of the city of Centennial, Colorado, about five miles south of Denver and one town over from where my Audi gets serviced.

Personally, its not all about exotics. Cars like the Charger here are cool in and of themselves.

...We don't have them here in Kent County yet, although I understand they are available in Detroit. All the cars around here are Crown Vics and Camaros, but there may be an Impala or two these days. They like to put them in plain white wrappers these days to, as they've got those "stealth bars" on the hood and rear deck that all but make the cars unnoticeable until your practically next to them.

The only marked police car i've ever seen that was marked that was not a Crown Vic. Was the sheriff of I forget what county in a Durango, then Gilroy's sheriff drives an expedition. Nothing fancy at all, except a long time back in the 90s I do remember and have a picture of a '94 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 marked police car parked beside a park here in San Jose.

Hell Auburn Hills, the city I used to work for had Charger and Magnum police cars a long time ago, in fact they were the first to get them since Chrysler pretty much gave them to the city. If I think about it I'll get some pictures of them since the dig I'm on is near the police station. Oakland County also just got a few, along with Impalas with the V8's in them.

Because the number of exotics you see daily has something to do with how long it takes to get Chargers on the police force? :D

For the record I don't live in Centennial - I'd never be caught dead in a suburb. I have no idea when Centennial got the car (well I have some idea - 2006 or later) but as I don't like to venture into the suburbs much I just saw it now for the first time.

It's a bit different when you're living a few miles from the company's headquarters, methinks.

For the record aside from Joey everyone seems to be saying that they've only ever seen unmarked Chargers. Same goes here - that's why I photographed a marked one!!

In Denver, marked police use Ford Crown Victorias, Dodge Durangos, and Ford Expeditions. Only the prior-generation Durango was used, and only the current generation Ford Expedition is used. Both are seen often.

Now the Colorado State Patrol is a bit different...

Most likely.

We had a Z06, until the sheriff who owned it wrecked it (hit a drunk red-light runner). So, now all the d*mn annoying street racers are back at night ripping down Plano Parkway. :ouch:

I just figured a city like that would buy new police cars as soon as they came out.

EDIT: I wouldn't say drug car. We have a Jetta in town like that, sort of riced out looking, but within the law, so if you really look closely, you notice something is weird. He drives around until some unsuspecting street racer tries to race him, and gets pulled over.

The city of Walker (just outside of Grand Rapids and Kentwood, where I live) bought two of the last B4C Camaro police vehicles, basically a Camaro SS in RS trim. They were having some really bad street racing issues around that time, particularly in the massive industrial parks there (the whole city of Walker seems like one). I haven't seen one in a while, but one was clearly marked, the other was not.

...I've always wanted a B4C. Its a shame they only equipped them with slushboxes though...

Jaguar XKR. For some reason the owner became upset when I yelled 'nice Jaguar!' to him.

Go away Brooklands I see you way too much.

Now the Colorado State Patrol is a bit different...

Colo Subie STi Squad car

I remember hearing at those years ago, first time I've seen a pic of one though. I thought they purchased them to deal with the mountains at times, though that was just hear say. Too bad one of the cars they go was an MR2... though not sure if its a turbo. What is Colorado's policy on cars involved in street racing?

On the squad car thing.. I've seen a marked Intrepid, a Town and Country, several various SUV's, and a marked previous generation Subaru Outback Sedan. One of the more odd cars for sure.

They have one of those all black Charger's down here as well... quite annoying indeed.

All I know is that 'engaging in a speed contest' is a 12-point violation, same as drunk driving. I'm pretty sure they'll just give you the twelve points in many circumstances, but they'll confiscate the cars if it's an organized event or something. For many drivers twelve points would mean an automatic suspension of license.

The Impreza is, according to the State Patrol, supposedly on the 'street racing team.' However the State Patrol probably doesn't have jurisdiction on the area in that photo, so I'm wondering if it's staged. I have a couple more shots of the Impreza, too.

Any chance you could upload them?

On the jurisdiction matter, they could probably just radio in the force that has jurisdiction. Then they would just engage and hold the suspects till local enforcement arrived.

But the quality on the picture, with the angle and lighting, does lend itself to a staged event. Also how both cars are relatively clean (though the Mitsu's exhaust is hanging almost on the ground) and how everyone is positioned to give a nice dramatic look...

Hmm.

Local Denver plates there, rather than CSP plates from the other photos - perhaps they had just confiscated it in that shot.

EDIT: looking again, those plates were issued very early on in the STi's run - perhaps the CSP didn't confiscate the car - they may have just purchased it.

The State Patrol has statewide jurisdiction - I mis-spoke when I said they didn't have jurisdiction there; what I meant was that they probably wouldn't have been there in the first place. They usually stick to highways, and that looks like a surface street in suburban Denver - probably could be (and would be) handled locally. I could be wrong, but that alone leads me to believe it's staged. The lighting, etc. is pretty normal so I'd bet if I'm wrong about my above point then it is a real photo. Imagine being the Trooper who gets to drive it!

I posted this by mistake in Loud's thread, but saw a very strange colored DB9 Volante.

But it's been so long since I've such a car on the street, I appreciate it anyways.
