The reason for my interest in this particular car and hence my reason for the posting of it here, is not the actual car itself. Granted it is a nice example of a New 911 Turbo, but rather the reason for my posting is for the number plate. Last time the personalised plate "1" sold it sold for approx NZ$750,000 or almost twice as much as the car itself!

Interestingly, the last time I saw this number plate it was mounted to a then new Diablo Roadster.

I have an interest in car number plates too. It shows a lot about the personality of the owner and, as you say, the prices of these can be astronomical. In fact the highest price paid wsa this year. $6.8M US$ in the UAE for number '5'. When asked what the number signified to him, the new owner said words to the effect that it had absolutelyno meaning! Prior to that I think the record was held by a man here in Hong Kong, who paid around US$900k for the number '12' (Sounding like 'definately easy' in Cantonese). Earlier this year I saw your 997T's twin on a BMW 7...

Ironically, the HK government has just introduced a new scheme where you can have any configuration of letters/number up to 8 characters long.

Kinda makes you wonder how people who may a million US dollars for the number 12 must feel about that! Still, at least you know who is classier.

I was very suprised to see this Lotus 2 Eleven parked in downtown Wellington.

Ah! That's exactly the same one as I saw drive through my village a couple of months back. I wonder if it is the very same car. Apparantly it was doing the rounds of the Southeastern hemisphere.

I hope it is as that would be pretty cool. It doesn't appear as though any have been sold in New Zealand yet. There was talk of Lotus New Zealand running a one make racing series with leased cars, but I haven't heard anything more about that.

I don't think he was there. They're starting to roll off the production line already, so there is definitely more than that one press car around.

Here is the other colour scheme they have.

I don't like that scheme, I know it's supposed to be the union jack colours but it comes across way to "God Bless America" for my tastes.

I know. My mind keeps filling in the white stars that my eyes don't see. The blue & white lines need to be straighter (like Austin Powers' Jaguar), not just a color swap of the black/yellow/white version (which looks cool). Then again, the straight lines may not work so well. Whatver. I don't think Lotus was going for aesthetics with that car, and more power to them for it.

A few more bits and bobs coming later...

Is that plastic on the front of F430 MT2643?

Yeah, it was a plastic bag stuck in the front air intake. I chuckled as I imagined people pointing to his car and smiling and him thinking they were admiring his car... until he got home!

On with the show. Here are a mixed bag of Bentleys and Rollers...

- Bentley Arnage
- Rolls Royce Silver Spirit*
- Rolls Royce Silver Spirit*
- Rolls Royce Silver Spirit* LWB #1

Dodge Journey, I wasn't even aware that they were driving around yet. It has M plates on it meaning it's from the Tech Centre right down the road. Good lord is it ugly and the back end looks like a Volkswagen.
