Both strange - the fellow with the LS really must have just moved from the USA, right? I mean since you could have an S-Type in RHD and probably quite a bit cheaper.

Yeah, that would be my guess too. Unless it was some wealthy businessman who seeked something a bit different? Unlikely, but there are a few about.
You can always spot them due to there expensive sunglasses and Just For Men coloured hair.

EDIT: by the way, it's said "suh - koy - uh". It interests me that you don't know that word, as it's in the vocabulary of just about every American, due to the national interest with sequoias in the western USA, particularly in California. In fact, this Dodge Dakota was so interested in the tree, it bored a hole and drove right through!

It's named after a tree?

I find that interesting in itself. They should call the replacement the Toyota Zelkova Serrata:P

When you say the interest is SequiqoqoioqiqooqiqoqoqiZZZZZZZZqioqiooqqiqos in the west, do you mean the car or the tree?

I personally think they're a bit more attractive than the Jaguar, but neither vehicle is really gorgeous (or really dull). I don't believe you said that - two horrible shots at the Lincoln LS in one day! I was so serious about considering the vehicle for my next car and now... ugh. Image problems!!!

It's named after a tree?

Yes indeed!

The tree - everyone's enthralled. Sequoias are some of the tallest living things on earth - really spectacular. In fact, Sequoia National Park is named for the trees and contains the very largest one, which is called the General Sherman (84 meters in height).

Cars named after trees. Hmmm... Could be a new trend, eh?!

After the Toyota Sequoia could come the Dodge Vibernum or the luxurious Mercedes-Benz Maple. Maybe even the Ferrari Forsythia or Hyundai Hydrangea. Is the Toyota a twin-cab? If not they could make one and call it the Giant Sequoia, could they not?

Pff, they should have the Ferrari Fuchsia!

Saw a lovely grey Ferrari 550 today. And just for Dai, a Jeep Wrangler and a Cherokee. And I only went to B&Q!

The pics from last night. ID on the Merc please, M5Power...

EDIT: C32 AMG it is.

Just went out shopping, and saw a Bentley Continental R, and a purple 911 convertable (I think it was the 996, it was parked nose first in a busy carpark).

Drove along with a beauty 1966 AC Cobra finished in orange, my god, I had my windows down and my ears are still ringing...what an amazing machine, he gunned it at the lights, and took off like a bastard too...stupid sentra...so slow

That would be a C32 AMG, the performance C-class from 2002 until 2004; it was replaced in 2005 by the C55 AMG. The C32, which shared its engine with the SLK32 (and Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6), and had 349 horsepower from its supercharged 3.2-lite V6. Interestingly I saw one of those today myself!

The Sequoia is actually a large SUV:

It's outdated and crappy if you ask me; one of the few vehicles that Toyota makes that is both crap and popular and probably the best US example of Toyota's badge doing more talking that their actual product.

Indeed. S6 was actually 2003-only, though there was also one (wagon and sedan) made in 1995 (though you wouldn't confuse the two :)). Also a nice sighting - they're commonplace in Colorado, but that's only due to our weather - whenever I leave the state, I always see very few S6s. I think about 3000 S6s came to our shores, all were wagons.

Got an old S6 below. I've been taking photos for a few years now, and while most that I've photographed isn't rare as far as sales numbers are concerned, they're cool...or just interesting. Like an abandoned Mercury Comet I saw last week. :)

I don't think I need to learn skiing, either, but I can't exactly say I want to go somewhere just to watch the wheels go round. I'm going to have a hard time explaining how a trip to Italy is turning into a tour of Italy's finest automotive machinery....

It's an interesting hobby. Since I don't have the target rich environment that some others have, despite living in one of the highest concentrations of wealth in the world, I have often have to chase after stuff. In 3+ years, I've had one thumbs up, one who chased me down (paranoid, I guess), and the rest either didn't know or didn't care.

I don't reccommend chasing people on the highway, like I had to with that DeLorean. It could end rather badly. :ouch:

None of these are exactly recent. Maybe 6 months ago. The SLR was at the Bellagio.

A couple days ago, I saw CLK430 and a CLK320, and also what I believe was an X-Type.

Today, I saw a red Lotus Elise parked in front of the local Jewel-Osco. It looks better in real-life; it was especially sexy in the night.

Very nice - I saw an old '92-'94 S4 tonight, which was the even-rarer version of that mode, but no photo. I see those old Audi S models with regularity but again due to climate - I never see them when I leave this area.

I've been taking photos for a few years now, and while most that I've photographed isn't rare as far as sales numbers are concerned, they're cool...or just interesting. Like an abandoned Mercury Comet I saw last week. :)

Those are the best ones - and that Qvale Mangusta shot (coupled with the SLR shot) earns you a rep point. Spectacular photos, regardless of how old they are (screw the thread title - the point is pictures!).

I don't think I need to learn skiing, either, but I can't exactly say I want to go somewhere just to watch the wheels go round.

I used to think that but in the last few weeks I've found myself seriously considering trips to Monaco and Southern California to see cars. I suppose Dubai could be arranged for the price of those two combined. I've just decided it's not worth living my whole life and only seeing certain cars in photos. I want to see a McLaren F1, for instance, and a Veyron, and if I have to go to Monaco to do so, then bring it on.

It's actually the C36 AMG.

Since I like you I'll let you slide without the stern lecture that I give others who try to correct me, but do note that I'm right and you're not.

TODAY'S SIGHTINGS were pretty freaking average. In fact, I was very disappointed with these:

agm-728.jpg

July 28, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

The 360 and Flying Spur are decent, with the 360 being the pick of the litter, but the 360 has an awful picture and the Flying Spur is pretty mediocre by now. The XLR is just so cool-looking!

Anyway, as I said, I was disappointed with my sightings - until I looked up.

Tonight's was the best sunset I have ever seen in my life, period. And I know this is a car-based thread but if you can't appreciate those colors, then there's something wrong with you. Other shots of it can be found in these pictures:

Ha! Think that's bad, I was in a parking garage outside getting a few photos, and someone called the police on me.
They were afraid I was a terrorist or would be stealing cars with my camera.

Anyways, the last hour was semi-ok considering I hadn't seen anything decent in a while. Saw another (or possibly the same) Corvette Z06 in blue with blacked stock rims.

Tomorrow, I should get some better sightings.

And there's the C42 AMG according to Wikipedia.
Okay, about nine problems, and this time I am going to let you have it.

One, can you not tell the obvious differences between the vehicle whose picture you've posted, which was sold from 1995 to 1997, and the vehicle he's posted? It's not even the same GENERATION. If you can't tell because his picture is too dark (which it shouldn't be) then simply compare the freaking headlights!

Two, the vehicle he's posted has the badge "V6 KOMPRESSOR" which is german for "SUPERCHARGED V6." The ONLY supercharged V6 C-class was the C32, sold from, as I said, 2002 to 2004. The C36 used a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter six-cylinder.

DO NOT QUESTION MY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS STUFF.

Here's how the AMG C-classes break down:

C36 AMG: 1995-1997
C43 AMG: 1998-2001
C32 AMG: 2002-2004
C55 AMG: 2005-_

As I said prior - you're wrong, and I'm not. Don't argue with me about things of this nature.

EDIT: and if WikiPedia says there's a C42 AMG, then they're complete idiots.

Wow, calm down with the superiority you feel about your knowledge....you really feel that you're right about absolutely everything don't you? I've seen it all, in other threads as well. Besides, why can't I question your knowlege? It's not like what you say is the word of God.

Look, I like your contributions, so I'm not going to get into an argument with you. The thing is, I tend to know stuff about unusual and otherwise rare production cars completely offhand; it's my one true subject of absolute knowledge, and I really dislike being questioned about it, particularly when I am correct.

Yaay a house guest! Do be advised, though, that I'm moving myself in four weeks, to the southeast - a move I don't suggest unless you like heat. However you can live in the room I'll vacate!! :P

Well fine rain on our parade. No Maybach for you - you can have this instead:

The fact that he's written "Honda" on the windshield of his Hyundai isn't even as funny as the fact that he's managed - somehow - to get plates ending in "HND."
