Also, thanks for the overwhelming responses (zero) about the HRM Lotus. Apparently, "HRM" means "go faster stripes".

One of the few cars that looks good in neon green. 👍

Apparently...

Lotusenthusiasts.org
Our friends at Hunting Ridge Motorsports (AKA Lotus of Greenwich) have developed several specially equipped and painted Elises. The HRM Special Edition Lotus Elises are finished in a variety of colors with complementing stripes and trim, with interior upgrades as well. This HRM Edition Elise is based on a factory Sport Package Elise which has been fitted with:
Dual racing stripes
Australian based Race and Prestige performance sport exhaust system and intake
Custom painted to match center console
Red brake calipers
Red trimmed engine detail
Black finished light weight sport alloy wheels
StarShield clear bra protection
Black finished rear diffuser
Lotus Tuned Sport package including
  • uprated Bilstein shocks
  • uprated Eibach springs
  • Yokohama high performanceAO48 tires
  • adjustable ride height settings
  • Lotus tuned 1.8Lmid-mounted 16-valve DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engine that
    pushes out 190 BHP
  • front anti-sway bar.

So it's a standard, Lotus sports package Elise in pretty colours. It's a dealership special edition.

Why does his numberplate say 'Gate'?

I saw my first CLS55 yesterday.

At least, I thought it was a CLS55, it was tailgating us so I had to judge by the sound as it roared past. No badges on the back, which was odd.

The way I tell is the wheels - the CLS55 has very huge yet somehow understated (compared, at least, to the CLS500) five spokes. Also there are badges on the side - the standard model has none and the CLS55 has "V8 KOMPRESSOR." Then again if the badges were removed, there would be no way to tell.

anti theft reasons i guess
debadge the car, harded to tell what model it is exactly, less chance of it being stolen :)

It had these alloys.

If that's any help.

I also saw a brown BMW X5 4.8i and a Kia Magentis. I took photos with the DigiCam but it must be switched on when connected to the PC, and I'm batteryless.

Mercedes S500 Limo (Probably common in other places, but not here)
Nissan Fairlady (350Z)
Ferrari 360 Modena
Audi S4 (To fill the space)

Apologies for the double post, but I can't appear to put another 'Imageshack' image in an edited post.

Anyway, here's THE most annoying shot ever... Was snapping cars from a bridge when this wallopping thunder came from my left. As I turned around to get a snap a white and red Porsche Carrera went thundering by. It was covered in decals sporting '...Cup' on the side. My shutter clicked at the very milisecond that it went past that big yellow sign!!! Outrage!!!

Now, it was definately a Carrera Cup car of some sort, but the question is, was it a 996 Cup, a 997 GT3 Cup or just a Porsche fanboy stickering up his car to resemble either of the former? Are the actual Cup cars even road legal? It made a hell of a noise and look at the camber on the front.

Any ideas?

This is what I thought it was (GT3 Cup) but the sticker/body colour is in inverted and the mirrors are all 996

This is the photo. Again..... AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Thanks, again. There's another local dealer special edition that I've seen around: Subaru Legacy GTX.

The first time I saw one, I thought it was a lame decal, but after the second one a week later, I had to look it up. I should be able to get a photo in the next week or so, given how often I see them.

That happens to me all the time. My camera is so slow, I've missed some truly interesting stuff. Most recently, a 930 911 Turbo and a new Audi RS4, both within 10 minutes of each other. Unless it's parked or I'm stuck in traffic, I sometimes don't even bother. A new motion-compensating camera is what I need....

All from today:

Ferrari 355 Spyder (non-F1; M5Power is right; it is beatiful)
Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
Mercedes-Benz 219 (for sale to a good home! The same shop has two London taxis buried off to the side, but I'll get that photo later.)

Hey! I replied - I even googled it and had a look around the Web for ya! :P

God I love that F355. It's how a Ferrari should look. And I swear its design hasn't aged in the slightest since it came out for MY '95.

Well, the Grand Prix is in town, and as everyone knows, motorsports provide great sightings. Today was mostly just qualifying, but I still managed some good sightings:

August 12, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

That's a Viper GTS ACR. I've seen it once before in Denver (photos somewhere in this thread). Less than 2000 were manufactured over the Viper's last four years in first-gen form. Very cool car.

The actual Grand Prix is tomorrow.

Well, Saturday night (my second-to-last Saturday before leaving Denver for college) produces some very nice cars. First things first:

ahe-4.jpg

Apologies for the poor picture in the upper left, but do note that's the new Jeep Compass which isn't yet out. Michigan plates but not manufacturer, just standard issue. Testing was occurring though - either that or the guy had three radar detectors stuck to his windshield and some other equipment in the rear seat.

ahe-z82.jpg

I love the Z8 - otherwise it'd have the Trailblazer SS's spot above.

ahe-qp.jpg

August 12, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Hell yes! Bono's got one - the epitome of cool. :D

ahe-z8.jpg

August 12, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

I used to think silver was the best color - then I saw this one. Plates indicate a 2003 purchase here in Denver, but I'd never seen it, unbelievably, until tonight. Just look at it - spectacular, is it not?

This car has been out all summer and I've just finally seen one. Interestingly, the BMW M6 has also been out all summer and I saw my first of those today too, at the Grand Prix. Though it had Canadian plates and it left before I could photograph it. Not bad eh?

Hey, two small questions M5Power: What camera do you use and when/where do usually take the pictures? (Considering it would start to look suspicious if you were taking them outside your car).

Thanks, GT Pro.

GT4_Rule
Dodge Viper RT/10 (the old one)

Don't you just love these things? :D What color was it?

My camera is a 4.1-megapixel Sony DSC-S85. We bought it a few years ago and it was top-range, but these days it's fallen back (sort of like the Saab 9-5). Actually Sony doesn't even sell it anymore. But I love my camera - I'll take my 8000th picture in two weeks - unbelievable because I hadn't even used it until last May. My parents have offered me a new camera free of charge but I'm loyal to products that work well. It's slow to turn on and it takes blurry pictures in the twilight, but it hasn't failed me yet, and that's what counts.

As far as where I take pictures, 99% of them are taken from my car as I drove slowly by (actually I usually stop to avoid a blurred image). The area in which I take pictures fosters this situation. Many of my pictures are taken at valet parking areas, and sometimes the valets see me. Typically they couldn't care less and I've never had trouble. Tonight, in fact, a valet saw me photographing a Bentley Continental GT and as I drove by he waved at me.

The way I see it is this: people who have expensive and flashy cars expect their cars to be oohed and aahed at. They eventually get used to people taking photos, and they have pride in their cars and know that it's something you have to deal with if you have a car like theirs. I've never once had a negative incident while photographing a car, and I've never been accused of being suspicious.

BMW M6 (Black) , Lambo Murcielago (Yellow) , AC Cobra (Not sure whether it was a replica or the real McCoy) in dark/Navy blue with twin gold racing stripes, gorgeous exhaust note - I want one!

mercedes SL 65 AMG!!!!!!!!- im pretty sure came out of a petrol staion on other side of road, came past said V12 BITURBO on the side had sl_ _ AMG with the sl65 wheels!

(on other side of motorway)
and: bentley arnage
bentley continental GT
several porsches
two nissan skylines

Not much, only a few cars that are always there. (my friends neighbors) Like one of them have a classic orange Vette Singray, and a blue C5 Vette, both in great condition! A black BMW M3, and a C55 AMG. (or somthing like that)

It went past too quickly to get a picture or a video, but I saw a Blue, convertible Lamborghini Countach today. Wow, did that baby sing. What an engine noise.

Well after driving around my area for the past few weeks, it turns out there's some nice cars here! Turns out someone owns a brand new 2007 Shelby GT500 convertible( I hope I can get a pic of it again, I was aimlessly driving around and stumbled upon the driveway where it was parked when I got lost) my dad and I have both spotted a mint blue Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder driving around here, so I sure hope I can find where he lives soon. Also a few blocks away from my hous there's a yellow viper with black stripes that sit in someone's driveway in an oddly designed house where the land actually dips down and you can barely see the house, kinda looks like a big dip in the land and an empty spot when its beside two houses. Finally There's an M3 here with an M3 GTR widebody on it. I'm thinking its a normal M3 because it doesn't have a little spoiler on the back. Hopefully I can find my cam and hopefully snap pics of these cars someday.

Lucky M5. There's been a few times where if I get close to take pictures, I'm told to go away. But doing it from a distance never seems to hurt.

Hell, I've been accused of being a terrorist or car stealer cause I took pictures.

About the second Z8: Would that be an Alpina V8 Roadster or a Z8?
Also, on the compass: Revel it. It is the only one you will ever see on the road.
