I didn't actually see this today, but I thought I'd better contribute something

None of them are illegal in the US. That sounds like it would be a pain to have to pull over when you need to talk on the phone?

Hands-free is fine.

The photo was taken in Wemyss Bay. It had just come off the ferry from Bute, but it doesn't live there. It's the last GT40 and it has been owned by Ford since new.

Weak day today, but I only had eight minutes in which to see cars on account of my uncooperative family. :D

I've seen that F430 about six times now.

I've only ever seen one, and it was covered in all kinds of non-matching paints like red and green.:yuck:
Yep, definately a BMW Art Car. There's a bunch of them.
What you've seen is the M1 done by Andy Warhol.

I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster today. It was the first Murcielago I've ever seen and it was in black colour. It was very amazing looking. It had some kind of air ducts on the side at the back open upwards. Looked very mean and awesome.

They had a Ford Club show at the local dealer today.

And there were lots more, like Ford Galaxie, Comet and Thunderbirds. I think I saw over 20 Mustang Shelby's today.

And plus a Supercharged Corvette driving by, as well as a GMC Sierra with LIme Green paint.

What are?
 BMW art cars - they certainly should be! The worst was the Z1.

I think he meant driving and talking on your phone and such. I can't imagine it's illegal anywhere in this country to drive and take pictures, though, since a blind monkey could do it.

That's the one. It gave me a splitting headache.

They actually had a really interesting article on Art Cars a couple of months ago in Motorsport.

BMW has done loads.

I'm sure the NY/NJ/CT cops would feel different. They seem to be lax on the cell phone laws, but NY subway cops get freaked out when someone's taking pictures of GCT or the subway mosaics (which have miraculously survived the nihilism of the 70's and 80's). I can only imagine what they'd think if they saw me take a shot of the 2006 M5 on Broadway & 76th.

Most art cars are over-rated, especially the Andy Warhol one. It's no wonder BMW was so successful during that era; they made their opposition incredibly dizzy.

They had a Ford Club show at the local dealer today.

There were two muscle car/hot rod gatherings today, in two different locations. Circumstances meant that I couldn't stop, even to take a few pot shots. Nice stuff that I saw in passing, though. :grumpy:

I've got a few new photos, but digging through recent archives, I have a few interesting ones, but I'm not 100% sure if I posted them before. Since I'm losing track, I'll just post new captures from now on. :) The original shot of the Packard is beautiful; nothing like what I uploaded. Damned 100KB limits! :ouch:

Left to right:

BMW 2002tii (not sure if it's real)
BMW 2800CS
Lotus Elan
Mercury Comet 1964 (I think)
Mercury Meteor 1963 (such great names back then, so appropriate to the times)
Packard One-Eighty 1941

Regardless of how they feel, it's actually legal to photograph cars in public. In New York you might be questioned directly after you take a photograph, but there's no crime against doing it, period.

A lovely Monday night for me!

Last but not least, the highlight of the evening:

The F355 is my favorite V8 Ferrari. At least stylistically - it's just so expressive. The 360 and F430 look too "attractive" and the 348 is too boring, but the 355 has the right amount of aggressiveness and beauty... I love it!

I must agree. It's just kinda sad (imo) that F355 resales are not as high as I thought they would be. Anyone who can afford a Corvette Z06 or Viper has the ability to buy one of these today.

M5, do you know what the MSRP was for the F355 models?

I'm praying that works to my advantage - I'm very seriously planning on buying myself an F355 as a college graduation present in a few years (though it may be a few years beyond that - but in ten years' time I do plan to own an F355).

Indeed - in 1998, the Berlinetta, which was the "base" coupe, went for $121500; the GTS, which was the targa-roofed model and what I photographed, went for $128000, and the Spider went for $131400.

New for 1998 was the F1 transmission, the first sequential-manual transmission in a production car. That was only available on the Berlinetta model and Berlinettas so equipped went for $131000.

Around 12,000 of these were made from May 1994 through 1999 after which it was replaced by the 360 Modena.

Ah, thanks. They were a lot more expensive new than I thought.👍

That's interesting - they're actually a bit cheaper than I thought. I mean we're less than ten years on and the F430 goes for like $170k now doesn't it? That's a pretty big price jump in less than a decade.

Well, it is Ferrari. They could probably put the F430 at $250K, and there'd probably still be buyers on waiting lists.

Dead true. The folks who buy them can barely tell the difference between $170,000 and $250,000 anyway - hell, the Enzo could've gone for double what it did and it would've sold out just as quickly.

WOW M5 a 2CV! I've never seen one in person in my life. But as a little kid I thought they were the coolest things >.< I was 3 mind you. And the reason I loved it was becuase I saw it in a flood picture. So ithough it was a car boat thing.

355, 360 then 430?

I'd take the 360. Nothing else on earth is or has ever been as beautiful.

360 isa nice looking car, but definatly not the best looking. I think i'm gonna stick with the Elise on that one.
