Homeforsummer, was that the supercar sunday festival in gaydon? I very nearly went to that but I had prom night beforehand, so getting up would've been a problem (If I'd have actually gone to sleep in the first place) Was it worth it? I'll be there next time.

Nope, was just a bog standard Father's Day car show that's on every year at Harewood House near Leeds. The classics are owned by the wealthy, and the newer cars are on display so the wealthy can consider and the less wealthy can dream :P

Saw an R8, a bentley continental and a Porsche (don't know the type, but recent model) at a party.
Didn't bring a camera, so no pics.
The party was in the home of 1 the wealthiest people around here.
They have a car elevator in their garage that leads to the underground garage :)
I have no idea what kind of cars are parked in there.

Haha, sounds like some good places to check! Ill be floatin around Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece and Prague for about a month, so ill check some stuff out! haha

If you're going to be in Italy, then either hang around Maranello or Sant'Agata. You're bound to see a few Ferraris & Lamborghinis in those cities running around.

Haha, Doug, you see more in Colorado than im gonna see in my month in Europe! What camera do you use again? I bought the SD750 just for the trip! haha

SD 1100 IS. I looked at the 750 and ultimately I think I decided they were practically the same camera, but the 1100 was more available so I got it instead. Have fun in Europe and take lots of pictures!! One of my frat brothers was just in Vienna and claims the "entire city" is full of exotic cars.

Alex
Doug, Colorado is good, and you've backed that up very well, but I think we pip you with Monaco, Maranello, Marbella, St Tropez, Cannes, Nurb, London, Nice, Paris, etc.

Not too many people spotting here from those places though, so take what you can get! :P

+1. Doug is fat.

You bitch!!

BTW ANY large city will have a conglomeration of nice cars. You just have to know where to look, when to look, and be able to dedicate yourself to the hard work that it takes to see some of these cars. I saw that Enzo on a Tuesday night. Whenever I leave the house on a weeknight at 7pm and my parents ask me why I even bother I remind them it takes work and you can't just chalk it up to weekends! Some of my best car spots have come at odd times in odd places... let's not forget Usher's Porsche Carrera GT at 1am on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning in the RAIN outside a hotel in Atlanta:

Best wishes to all!

Even Seattle has a lot of really nice cars running about when the clouds clear. And that's without looking in the really nice spots.

Things of note in the last couple days: A very nice, old school Camaro, a C3 Corvette Pace Car edition, VW Tiguan a BMW 1 series and two Rousch Mustangs.

Sorry for the terrible zoomed in cell phone pic.

Ill be in almost every major city in Greece, Italy, Germany, and Austria, ntm Prague and BUdapest. Ive got the 750 all ready and 2 2 gig mem cards. Im set!

You may have some good sightings in Germany, possibly Austria and the more salubrious parts of Italy. Any chance you can get yourself over the border to Switzerland? There are some interesting cars there. Make sure you don't limit yourself to modern cars and definately keep your eyes out and get photos of all the classic cars you see too. Have a great trip, we're all looking forward to the pics!

Oooooohhh... some word usage Rue :D

After touring some of the finest towns in Australia last night, I can definitely say it was one my best sighting sessions ever (every fifth car was a freakin' late-model Maserati).
Highlights included:

-Lamborghini Countach LP400S (oh-my-god does that engine sound nice)
-Mercedes SL63 AMG (although a subtle change, the new SL looks brilliant), Mercedes CLS63 AMG, Mercedes S63 AMG
-Ferrari F430, Ferrari F355, Ferrari 348
-Bentley Continental GT Speed
-Porsche 911 GT3 RS
-Maserati Quattroporte
-Audi R8

👍

Well, first of all, nice photos from the show homeforsummer. What else did you get to see there? :)

As for the whole car spotting spots, its really is a subjective thing. You can't really find anything rare if you seen the same thing everywhere else. F430s and Gallardos ain't that rare you know. (unless you seen the special versions of the car) I've seen a couple of exotics in my life, and I'm sure most of you have to. But in my opinion, the best car spotting spots has got to be either Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. Not because like what Rue sees everyday, but you could see rarer cars in Asia that you will never see in the U.S. I just seen the Mitsuoka Orochi in a showroom while I was going around with my parents, and i've seen more than enough Skyline GT-Rs, Supras and NSXs near my place. :P

That's cos I is speaking the English good.

Today I've seen many FG Falcons, I would say now pretty popular here. I saw about 6 XT's, and a few XRs. But my highlight was the new GTP. Got pic's but like usual I don't think anyone is bothered anyways.

Stick 'em up. There seems to be a recent trend in people not posting pics with their spots. That's why we're all here, right?

I honestly wish I could post pictures, but I don't usually bring my camera and it would be tantamount to impossible to snap some of the cars that go flashing past on the other side of the road. I don't know how you guys do it, unless of course you hunt them down once you sight the car and chase it until you can get a photo, which won't happen because I don't have a driver's licence (and my parents aren't automobile-obsessed like me, so they aren't go to do so themselves, as well as the fact they don't have the time).

Oh, and I also one of the new GTPs yesterday Leon. They are certainly good-looking. 👍

It looks somwhat like a Subaru Legacy.

I don't own a car here. 98% of my spots are taken on foot. Granted, I do live in a city of 7 million in a small area, but I do always carry my camera around (well, nearly always) I still miss quite a bit of stuff. Two weeks ago, I missed the chance to snap two Ferraris racing and a couple of days before that I missed a bunch more due to them unexpectedly flashing past as you say. Take your camera out and think positive! ;)

Japan, agreed. But I'm pretty confident that Japan, the US and the UK have everywhere else roundly beaten in that the rarest and most valuable cars reside in these places.

Well certain places in the US at least. I doubt you would see a really rare and expensive car in Maine.

But the really sweet cars are to be found in the remote little towns. I've seen (and heard) a Lancia Fulvia in a remote little town called Montefalco (great wine there), an original Innocenti Mini Cooper 1300 (awesome sound) at Assisi (yes, "Citta di Aria" in GT4-speak), and a variety of other interesting cars which make me (and Clarkson, apparently) far more excited than a new Ferrari. in the most remote. Compared to that, a Gallardo in Rome (almost ran me over first time I saw him) is all I've seen in bigger towns. From a spotting point of view, a Gallardo really isn't as interesting or rare.

Agreed, hence my comments before. Europe is full of gems in the most unlikely places. Some of Serge's more vintage spots are testament to that fact.

Dont forget the middle east.:) (dubai, UAE...etc)
We need somebody from there.

There was one of those A3 cabrios at the show too, though next to the R8, RS6, TT S and S5 I forgot to take a photo...

A pretty rare car, there is one in my area but I can't see to ever be near it when it's safe to take a photograph.

They're supposed to be rare but there are at least three around where I live! I'm undecided on them... I had a sit in it and I'd love to drive one, given how fun the normal Cooper Works was, but the styling could have been so much better excecuted. It's grown on me, I think if they'd allowed more colour options and dispenced with the tacky stickers it would have been great. When you see how good the normal Cooper S Works looked with the BMW body kit and some Cooper wheels...

...then the Works GP could have been equally mean but a fair bit more tasteful too. Imagine that one above with the extra power, the reduction in weight etc that the GP has...
