285bhp at the crank and 296lb-ft at 4125rpm. 0-60 in 5.5s and 100mph in 13.3. Bit of a beast, these.

You mean those are special cars?

Seen a couple of them before, thought they were just slightly chavved-up ones. Haha.

You mean those are special cars?

Yup.

thought they were just slightly chavved-up ones.

Nope. I first saw/heard of them in the old, now sadly defunct Cars and Car Conversions (the "triple C") magazine. When they're featured in a magazine like that alongside other profesionally tuned road cars like Autodelta Alfa Romeos and Abbott Racing Saabs then you know it's a proper job and not a chavved-up affair.

Forgot to put my memory card in my camera so had to use the internal memory which means all my pics were lo-res.

Before we start, the spot of the day was something I didn't get a chance to photograph as it came out of nowhere. A black Ultima GT-R! A crazy sighting for Hong Kong roads and I am gutted I wasn't quick enough to get a shot. I will be keeping my eye out for it in the coming days.

Lotus Exige (not the same one as I have posted before) and in the background the reason why Hong Kong is known for having the most Rolls-Royces and Bentleys per capita in the world. That's a Bentley GT, a Phantom LWB and a Silver Seraph all in one picture (I only noticed when I came to cropping the image!). That's the reason why I don't photograph contemporary Bentley/Rolls' - my camera arm would get sore!

Porsche 997 GT3 RS (heavily modified) I couldn't get a good picture of this as there were security guards around, but next to the GT3 RS was a Ferrari 512 BBi and a new GTR, behind was a Lamborghini Diablo and a R33 GT-R Z-Tune and a couple of other things I don't even remember.

Thanks mate! Yes, my Photobucket (see my sig.) has a lot of gems from the past couple of years. There are still many I have never got round to uploading though. I'm proud to promote Hong Kong and it's car culture. If you ever decide on a visit let me know and I'll give you some pointers.

I took a shedload of pics today, but it's going to take me a while to get through them all. There were a lot of run of the mill cars and nothing too special but perhaps I'll put up the highlights first.

EDIT: Ok, so here are the highlights from today. I have left the Ferraris out because there was so many of them I will post them at the same time, although every Ferrari I saw bar 1 Scaglietti was mid-engined V8.

Spyder vs Spider - I have better shots of each car I will post later

Looks like an SL55 to me. Those headlights are the oval ones instead of the newer car's full headlights, and the wheels are the ones with a bunch of spokes, while the 63 has a 5-spoke design.

Right, I was looking purely at the bumper.

It's an sl55 safety car.

Cool! Is that rare?

Come to think of it, I think I've had this conversation before with Doug and someone else. Will dig out the photo...

Yes, we couldn't work out whether this was a 65 or a 55 but there was talk of it being a safety car like holden said. Any Merc experts here?

I'm not a Mercedes expert but judging by the wheels that one looks like a 65. Looking at GT4, which has 500, 600, and 55 and 65 AMGs, the 500 has a plain five-spoke design, the 600 has slightly wider spokes, the 55 has that many-spoked design you posted earlier, and the 65 has the wheels you just posted.

EDIT-CyborgGT, that's not a Skyline. Just GT-R.

Yes, the intake in the front bumper is the obvious giveaway but some people pointed out some other things that made it questionnable as a SL65.

As Holden mentioned, the SL55 Safety Car (from F1 a couple of years ago) does have the same bumper as the SL65.

oh come on guys!! There is what - maybe 3 SL55 safety cars in the world - and on top of that, I don't think they are even road registered. The chances of it being a safety car are extremely slim and not even worth taking into consideration IMO:ouch:

Alpina B7, haven't seen one in a while.

Ferrari Testarossa, first time I've ever seen one on the road. Sounded and smelled awesome.

Yes, indeed it would be stupid to imagine that. We are not saying that. The point is that if they are not SL65's then I think they made some limited number SL55's which had the same spec/trim/body as the safety cars in the F1 GP of a few years back (at least that's what I remember from a discussion a year or so ago). For me both these cars (that I have photographed) are bog-standard SL65's, but people have questioned that.

It's not rare I've seen at least 3 in Glasgow alone.

Easiest way to tell the difference the SL65 AMG will say V12 Twin Turbo on the side, the SL55 AMG with the safety car performance pack will say V8 Kompresser but that's abit like stating the obvious...

So are we saying that a Sl55 has a safety car option to make it look like a safety car? I never knew that if that's the case.:ouch:
