There's a Caparo plant in Novi? I need to go hang out around there and see if I can't find one they are testing or something.

There is a Caparo plant right down the street of where we were and then this trucked showed up. Kind of random for Novi Michigan.

Hopefully that truck didn't burst into flames after going around a few turns

GT-R, Not sure what the next 2 are?, old school red BMW Benz, nicely done BMW with carbon hood, some type of Jag, Fiat 500L, race car outside infenion Raceway!

I saw an 1886 Mercedes-Bens wagon at the Bennington, Vermont Car Museum while on vacation this week. I also saw about 2 months ago going home on the crappy school bus and me and my friends saw a Lamburgini Mercialago at a local gas station. That must cheered everyone's day up.

Rare as rocking horse droppings describes this next one I think:

Renault 21 Turbo
DSC_1963-Copy.jpg

Are they that rare? A colleague used to have a white one. That blue one's certainly in very good condition. I remember seeing the two door sister car (19?) everywhere when I was living back in the UK.

EDIT: The bootlid is very E30 M3 and Maserati Ghibli on the 21, isn't it.

There was never a two door version of the 21. Maybe you're thinking of the 19? Or maybe even the 11? All numerically named Renaults are rare in the UK now, even the 5. I can't remember the last time I saw a 25, 19s aren't that common any more, and 11s, 17s, 15s etc are virtually extinct.

Yes, I actually think the one my workmate has was a 19 but it was a saloon. Did they do a hot version of the 19 as a saloon? It looked just like the one I posted up there but with 4-doors. It was white and as I seem to recall everytime I saw them they were white.

My mum used to have the most basic version of the 5 in white. I quite enjoyed franging around in it.

Yep. If you google "Renault Chamade 16v" you'll find a bunch of pictures of them. The Phase II Chamade 16v is one of my favourite Renaults.

The 19 was Giugiaro design so if he did the Ghibli then that might explain any similarities! Not sure if he did the 21 though.

Yes! The Chamade 16v. That's the one. Popped straight back into my head as soon as you said it.

Giugiaro did do the original Ghibili in the 60's, not sure about the more modern one though.

Agree! 👍

Same here in Portugal.

The hot version of the Renault 19 is the 16S the "S" is Soupape=Valves (1.8L 16v).

All the Renault Turbo versions (5/9/11/18/21/25) are nowadays rare and in good conditions are even more rare.

Yep. When I've been to France (haven't been for three or four years now but have been about fifteen times in my life!) you do see a few there still going strong but there really don't seem to be many left. I reckon with the UK's climate many have rusted away or been scrapped when they broke down.

The 19 16v/16S was an excellent car. I've got a couple of group tests from magazines saved on my computer where the car is proclaimed to be more fun than the Golf GTi of the time, and better than the equivalent Escort/Astra/ZX/Tipo etc too.

Infinity M30, I don't remember ever seeing this car before.

'69 Elan Plus 2, I don't reconize the front.

IMG_6859.jpg

That's the correct front end for the Elan +2. It was a different shape from that of the open-top car.

EDIT: Saw this today. Perfect day for it too!

That is the correct front? Ok I saw two other Elans that day and I wasn't sure if it was a special one. I like it though, it looks good with a roof.

I'm not going to post these in the "events" thread because they were spots in the parking area at an event. To me, this is still in the wild, although I knew there were going to be some decent cars. It was at the Concours d'Elegance today, with some other random spots from the street. I was pretty happy with today's haul.

Nice 575SA, even rarer in that colour (Grigio Scuro?).

From Macau. Lamborghini Diablo SE30. I was never a fan of the Diablo but seeing a few on the roads recently I think there is little else that touches it in terms of drama. Awesome! Just as orange but not quite as dramatic - Honda Civic Type-R
