You'd better Tuttle, I dont want 442s blocked by your windshield again ¬¬
post!
We start this post with this decent bumperless mid-60s VW Bug with plenty of potential to be a nice car in the future:
A Dodge Daytona! I was surprised to find this thing in here, these were never sold in Mexico, we had to make do with lame turbo Dart Ks in those dark days. Seemed to be in pretty good shape too, I wonder if its a Turbo model, I know nothing about these.
A somewhat clean Chevy Astra with decent wheels and body kit, its way easier to see these things full of crap all around.
A pair of Harleys chugging along
my aunt works at H-D and was showing me the catalogs the other day, man are these things expensive.
I blew this from a bus, could not take the camera out in time. 1966 Mustang hardtop. It was neat, wore American Racing wheels and was very low.
I think this is a 1969 Ford LTD, complete with continental-style trunk which I think makes it a very rare spot here, it might be a US import, I dont remember seeing another one like it but I could be wrong- and pretty minty, its rare to see one of these in decent shape, let alone one like this, most of the time theyre left to rot, I couldnt tell you how many of these I have seen abandoned in my wanderings, so this was a nice change of pace, classic plates and all.
Then, a very very low Bug complete with luggage rack, pretty full btw, and a nice retro color with stock wheelcovers, you dont need much more to make it a nice cruiser
well, a 2+ liter stroker mill and thats all.
One of the very few Audi A5s Ive seen in the street and the only one Ive got in pictures. Man is this design clean, is really catches the eye. And the color rocks it too. How much power does this thing make? Im talking the A5, not the hellish S5.
Oh, yeah. A Very well preserved/restored 1987, I think, Caribe GT, the Mexican equivalent of the MKI GTI, the difference is that the Mexican model lacked the mechanical Bosch injection and had to make do with a two-barrel carb and 90 hp, everything else was the same so they are pretty fun to blast around, and better still in such a great shape!!! Period wheels round it out.
And I could not resist a little snap, even if I was in a pretty ugly part of the city:
1957 Ford painted like a 1960 Mexico City Taxi!!!! This was an awesome spot, my parents have obviously talked me about them, they were called crocodiles and were all over the place in the large 50s car of your choice, and I have also seen them in vintage movies; all this one needs is period lettering and the chromed roof light. Awesome. You wont find stuff like this anywhere else people, so sip it.
Flash wheels on an otherwise plain 300C, I shot this because I had the camera at hand, but bleh. Not even a SRT8.
Some high-riding late model Ford truck complete with custom wheels, but its obvious it isnt a hardcore off-road car, just street fodder. Still, looks decent.
Found this 350Z with the ugliest wheels I have ever seen in the building where my apartment is; the guy said it was twin turbo (yeah, sure) and told me he came often to visit family there. Have not seen it since.
Heh, this was neat but rare, this seemed to be some sort of custom-made car over the chassis and drivetrain of a VW Bug, it looked quite nice, I wonder if its really custom made or some kind of kit, but one thing is for sure, it aint no VW product. Ill keep my eyes peeled for this one, I want to .see the front.
1954 Plymouth Savoy wagon in fake Carrera Panamericana livery, found it crossing an overpass with a flat and the whole family around; I think I had already seen this car before it was painted, but I cant find the picture. Real Cragars too.
I had already posted this Mexican Mach 1 Mustang, but it popped in a shop near my house (the same in which I shot the MGA posted a few pages ago) and I had my camera at hand, sooo
are wire wheels in Mustangs even valid? It needs Cragars.
I had also already posted this 1971 Chevelle Wagon, a very very rare car in here as we did not have any Chevelle wagons of any year sold in Mexico; its got a 307 and auto, so its lame, but come on, its a breeze to make it cool, and its so clean and rust free! Or at least it seems so. Big block family anyone?
1977 I think- Camaro, complete with fake Cragars and overall crappy shape, but its got some potential, these things are always discarded in favor of the way cooler looking but also way more expensive early second-gen models, but they dont look half bad and are cheap as heck. Id rock it.
1950, I think, Ford F1 panel truck that has belonged to a commercial outlet for some decades, as I was told this IS one of their delivery vehicles and has been for the past 40 years. This is more amazing when you learn that the truck is absolutely stock, brakes, suspension and even right down to the one-barrel Flathead (you can peek at it in the hood-up picture). Awesome that this thing is still in service and looking this good. I do not and Im only 27.
Well maintained but otherwise lame 1972 Mustang hardtop, not even a GT351 but a base 2-barrel model, why would anyone do something with something as awful? Even worse, the three-spoke wheels. Sorry, I would have looked for a fastback or Mach 1.
there goes, more later and later and later...
