Heck no, I love racing, cruising here practically doesn't exist. However, track racing is growing rapidly over here and some people are building some stupidly fast cars out of whatever they like. it's pretty much like in the US, but if there are 300 examples of a certain car in one US city, here would be like four. For example, in here (Mexico City) we have about four or five 600+ hp Camaros prepared for track racing, and that's it. Same with, say, SRT4s, there are like six mean ones in the entire city. About ten Mustangs maybe, two aproaching 700 hp. A couple of serious BMWs. four or five Porsches. Two GTRs out of seven in the entire city. Stuff like that. but heck, five years ago you could not even imagine a 450 hp car in here. Now you have Hondas making 500. It's been nice and quick.
A restoration here is EXPEEEEEEEEENSIVE because, well, finding parts here is hard as there are is not a national association of classics like there are in other countries. If you find a part, be ready to pay big bucks for it. Good restorers are hard to find in here and the ones that do quality work charge absurd amounts of money. And well, shipping costs for bringing parts from the US are pretty prohibitive, so yeah, its a difficult and expensive game to play even restoring one of these hulks to stock condition, let alone engulf it with some performance. And the backyard builder is almost nonexistant here in Mexico. And of course, there's the brands. If you are resurrecting an old Ford, you may wind down with reasonable costs. If you restore a Chrysler, you will spend easily twice or thrice that ammount. If you restore an eurpean car, you're just nuts.
