so, that was Castle Combe's PARKING AREA right? you sure tyou weren't at a car show?

intresting array of cars there (:

and yes, I think that might be a Packard Twin Six, before they were called Twelve. Awesome piece!

Rue, your Twingo is actually a Clio sport.

👍

Renaultsport Clio 200 to be exact(ish).

EDIT: Cano, I spend a fair while scoping the car parks at most U.K race meetings that I attend. Castle Combe certainly throws up some interesting kit though!

Yes, they were all in the car park. Here are some shot from my car yesterday and the California this morning. Is the SLR a special model? 722?

Rue

Does that MG driver have to wait until one of the cars next to him/her leaves to get into their vehicle? Or is the picture taken at an angle that suggests the cars are closer than they actually are?

Rue

I cannot make out the badge on the side of the SLR, but it may be a 722. Maybe some a couple pictures of the 722 pictures I took can be of some help. :D

Did the badge on the side look like the one below?

Based on what I can make out in the picture, the front splitter appears to be 722. The lights are throwing me off a bit, but the 722 has "blacked" out headlamp units.

Hi Guys,

I've wanted to contribute to this thread for quite some time now, as in a week I see a lot of truly lovely cars and some real rarities. There is a very wealthy area of London just very near to my flat and I went on a run Saturday morning, spotted three real beauties. I returned with a camera, here are the results:

Ferrari California

My friends and my brother spotted a few Californias this weekend so I am guessing the UK orders were finally filled this week or the week before as previously none of us had seen them.

Ferrari 550 Maranello

I actually feel that compared to newer Ferraris like the California and 599 GTB, the 550 design is starting to look a little dated, not necessarily in a bad way. I don't see these as much as I used to in London.

Maserati Gran Turismo

In my opinion a genuinely regal sports car, but for obvious reasons not too disimilar from the recent Ferraris.

These cars were all within 100m of each other!

Do you guys accept older cars someone may have seen? Or just very recent?

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the photos.

All the best

Welcome to the thread.

Modern supercars are our bread and butter here, so older is usually better and far more interesting. Post what you got. :)

Vash, it is indeed a 722S. The splitter, badge, & wheels give her away. :)

3278811957_f1dfd20c60.jpg

.....Except that you can see by the roofline that it is a hardtop, and also the wheels appear to have that twin spoke thing going on.

My guess is that it is an SLR 722 that has some new wheels and the old headlights (maybe the originals were somehow broken and they liked the older ones better?). Its obvious they aren't afraid of modifying it, just look at the red gills.

Also it could be a regular SLR with a new badge, but I hope thats not the case.

There have been different wheel designs for the 722. See this picture:

whoa, intresting post!!! I have never seen an Essex here, this one must be the only one that has ever shown in this thread. For that, I say, you deserve some medals or at least an e-cookie, with chocochips.

man, dude, please post the OLD stuff. The older the better, and if you happen to see something intresting abandoned and covered in rust, PLEASE post it. you'll see with time that the old stuff is as welcomed here as any italian red generic car.

And Rue, intresting yet again! but dude...

Anything you find interesting is acceptable in my book.

Sorry guys, I should have explained my question better.

I meant to say, are you interested in interesting cars (old or new) that I have seen and photographed..say...a year ago, or 2 years ago as opposed to cars I saw only today or during the week?

Sorry for any confusion 👍

Post away. Doesn't matter if the spots are old or new. Looking forward to seeing what you have for us. Are those spots above in the backstreets of Kensington?

Hi mate,

No those are in Highgate Village :) Just on the border of Hampstead, so no surprise really.

Here's an oldie, a Ferrari Dino I spotted in Southgate, North London:

i6j9xu.jpg

Low quality photographs as they are taken using a 1.3 megapixel camera phone :(

Unfortunately for now the only other old ones I can find are a very modern (sorry) Ferrari Enzo from Finchley, North London:

i23jx5.jpg

29bgg2b.jpg

2v3r05d.jpg

and (you guessed it) a Ferrari F40 from Central London around the time of the Gumball Rally that year I believe:

fcpwed.jpg

You'll be spotting a theme by now, Ferrari 328 GTS (?), also North London:

dmfl1f.jpg

Two very common Ferrari 430 spiders, the interesting thing was them being parked together very near the Four Seasons hotel in Budapest on Grand Prix weekend in 2007:

2u73pxy.jpg

Corvette Stingray (76?) spotted in downtown Reykjavik, Iceland 2 years back:

Finishing with...

1zxl3bo.jpg

Optimus Prime ;)

I thought I had better quality photos, that's why I haven't posted pictures of a really lovely black Corvette Stingray I saw a little while back.

I have also got many nice photos from the Autosport International and MPH shows in London from a year or two ago, I can cherrypick some nice old race cars from there if anyone's interested? Maybe there's a better thread for that kind of thing?

All the best
Maz

Yeah, the Dino's a Karma kit by the looks of things.

Enzo on a council estate is an awesome spot though 👍

Welcome to the thread, those are some nice spots! However the Dino looks a little like a replica, can someone verify?

I did have that feeling as well just now while looking through some Google pics of real Dinos, apologies of it does turn out to be the case 👍

Cheers for the welcome

Hah! That Enzo on the estate is a great photo! Like Doug's old Carrera GT outside the bungalow 👍

Yes, quite a bad picture!

How do you know it was supercharged?

When you look good at the picture (not easy I know) the hood was modified to hold a supercharger (could just have been for the show though, did not look inside and it did not stick out).

It had a look about like this one (but was black, had other spoilers, etc)

Cowl induction hoods like those are meant for a high-rise intake manifold. Supercharged engines use either an open hood, or a scoop with an opening on the front.

I just saw this, do not know what it is, it did really look like a Mid-engine layout for race track. (See input below Mosler MT900)

=============

Mentioned before there are a lot 911s, so just put it to the test, with some things not published yet by me, taken on the way home:

911 Targa 4S, Cabrio 4S, Carrera with fancy wing and for once not silver, gray or black

=================

I thought code language was forbidden in this forum. Guessing you want high resolution. I take most pictures with my old camera 3 MegaPixels max.

Special series 16M (see below): with the resolution above, I can not confirm 100%, but it does seem to say 16m below the Ferrari sign on the side and the back does seem to hold the special plaque (but can not read it).

Cowl induction hoods like those are meant for a high-rise intake manifold. Supercharged engines use either an open hood, or a scoop with an opening on the front.

Thanks, so not supercharged.
