I've only seen one E60 M5, but as a bonus it was locally and not at a dealership (and in that gorgeous deep blue!). Even when I went to London I didn't see one! I see plenty of M3s of every generation though (doesn't everyone?) one Current gen. M6 (in Maroon, at a local race circuit) and the old M5 (At the same local race circuit).

EDIT:
Better idea methinks ;

and...

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q302/Imakuni_2007/BMWM5.jpg

The top one is an E63 BMW M6 - 500 horsepower 5.0-liter V-10. Seems like you knew that though. The bottom one isn't an M5, it's the E24 BMW 6-series, and though I'm not sure which model is I'd hazard a guess that it's the M635CSi, as Europe didn't receive an M6 model in that generation. Only about 4,000 M635CSi models were made (plus 1,800 US M6 models) from '83 to '89, so it's a decent sighting. The vehicle had a 286 horsepower 3.5-liter straight six, and did 0-60 in around six seconds.

I'm still in awe of harry's LM002 sighting. I just checked ExoticSpotter and discovered that there's only two pages of LM002 sightings on the whole site (for comparison, there are four pages of F40 sightings and three pages of Jaguar XJ220 sightings) and only seven were seen in the United States. It's one of the rarest cars in this thread.

Cheers M5, that's great!
Can't wait for the season at my local circuit to start again, so many nice cars there to be photographed, although I may not have time this Summer due to joining a team (Peugeot Rallye S1 FTW!) or marshalling there. (Where's my Combe blokey gone to? I used to chat to him about the Saloon Car Cup, So WHERE ARE YOU?)

Always thought that bottom pic was an M5, glad to be told otherwise before embarrassing myself :ouch:

So... Anyone know how rare the Volvo Clan is? I don't have much idea, but I know it is fairly rare. Full name is something like 'Volvo Clan Commander' or something along those lines. :boggled:

More pics of one of my better sightings;

Nothing in comparison, but it'll do for me.
Jamie.

Any time you see a Carrera GT that is a good sighting, in fact a great one! I would absolutely love to see a Carrera GT like that or on the road.

The reason the LM002 is so rare, esp. in the U.S. is that only only 300 were made (you knew that), and only 60 went to the U.S. Only 25 of those contain the original Countach QV engine, while the rest of the Americanas contain a Diablo fuel-injected engine. I'm hoping the 1988 one is still at the dealer though by the end of this week.

I learned my lesson today, I need to get a camera I can take everywhere. Know why? Cause today I spotted a Shelby GT 350 Convertible. Blue with a white interior and white top.

I've heard that a few LM002s even had a 7.3-liter boat engine from the factory for owners who thought 9mpg was a bit too high.

Today would have been a decent day for spotting, if I had my camera on me.
-Mercedes 190E 2.3 - 16
-Mercedes SLK55 AMG
-Mercedes C230 with some sort of Carlsson package on it.
-Toyota Tundra T3 Edition (Sorry, M5. It eludes my camera).

I saw a good one today, a Mini Cooper; not the BMW Cooper, but a real Mini Cooper. It was yellow and right hand drive. Probably the first right hand drive car I have ever seen, as I cannot think of another one at the moment.

I also saw a MKIV Toyota Supra in black.

I really need to buy a camera.

Hey doug, you remeber i said ive seen a lincoln blackwood
well it went past my window the other day, so this is rather a crappy pic.

blkwood28mi.jpg

bear in mind i was shooting through a window with a slow camera phone from 20m away past a small tree and a lamp post

You finally see an M6 after endless months, and all it gets is a byline?

j/k

Thanks. 👍 But I'm in awe of the quantity of quality you come up with every week. Every week. Aside from chaser_fan, I don't think anyone has a better photo-sniping location. I'm stuck with hunting & searching, and occasionally stumbling upon stuff.

Yes, snazzy. What in the hell is it? :odd:

I really need to buy a camera.

Yes you do. :P I would have liked to see that Mini. Check here.

Mixed bag:

Infiniti FX45

Why this isn't more popular compared to the FX35 is beyond me. Considering that the trend for cars like the 300C and Impreza have relatively high percentages of the higher-performance version, there should be many more FX45's on the road. The beautiful engine note alone should sell it.

Acura CSX

CSX, eh? Searching Google returned images & specs that resemble the Civic. Not sure why Honda would replicate the Civic so completely as an Acura. The headlights & taillights are definitely better than the Civic, though; much more "mature".

Probably not anything good, good, but the best I could come up with for the day.

Hard to tell. But it's an Mitsubishi Evolution V.
evov0kd.jpg

Probably not rare or even uncommon, but I think they're pretty cool nonetheless. Range Rover Sport
landroversport3ss.jpg

Also I saw a 300C SRT-8, but didn't think it was worth taking. Haven't seen the only other SRT here yet, the Crossfire SRT-6, but I'll be sure to snap that up if I do.

oh yeah and i saw another semi-decent car that i forgot i took a pic of.

a chrysler 300c CRD, its not the best model but its still a huge car and i dont see them all too often. nice wheels too

Seen a few now, including that one a couple of times.

That one is the same as the one I saw on October 7th. They're around Atlanta. In fact, the local high-end BMW dealer has an M6 vert on the lot, if you can believe it. Probably one of the first in the country, since that particular dealer is one of the highest-volume BMW dealers on the planet. Still waiting to see it.

Well thanks - I try pretty hard - but I could do this for the rest of my life and still never see an LM002!

I agree - it seems that the problem is it's not powerful enough or quick enough to warrant the added expense, according to most buyers. The Range Rover Supercharged suffers the same problem (but to a higher degree), although it found a buyer in my roommate!

Acura CSX

It's a good spot - those are Canada-only and the CSX is unique to the newest Civic; previous models were called the Acura EL. I've seen two EL's in the states - one in California a couple of years ago, and one with Colorado plates last summer. Still not sure how he registered it. As far as yours is considered, it's running Quebec plates, which is expected since it's not sold here.

It's so weird that Chrysler calls the diesel model the 300C. Here only the V8 is the 300C. I've heard that in the UK, the "300C" designation is given to every engine and even the wagon version (called the Dodge Magnum in the states)!

Yes, snazzy. What in the hell is it? :odd:

I do believe it's a Lotus Clan Commander.

EDIT: Taken from the 'Clan Owners Club Website' - http://www.clanownersclub.com/

"The Clan Crusader is a fibreglass monocoque sports two-seater, powered by the Rootes Imp Sport engine, with suspension and main running gear from the same manufacturer.

The Crusader was originally conceived by a group of Lotus engineers in the late '60s. Paul Haussauer formed the Clan Motor Company and developed a prototype vehicle with the assistance of Brian Luff. The styling for the Crusader was by John Frayling.

Initial production of the first few cars started in a nursery factory in Washington, Tyne-and-Wear. They were completed and registered by July 1971. A purpose built factory unit was leased, taking advantage of government grants designed to improve employment in the area.

By the official start of production, in September 1971, five cars a week were being produced. This continued despite the coal miners' strike the next winter, the knock on effect of which caused supply problems. This prevented, to some extent, the growth of production, the factory being capable of four times this throughput.

Approximately 350 cars were built by Clan Motor Company including 19 specifically for competiton use. Some at the beginning being sold in component form, i.e. bodyshell fully trimmed, all wiring, glass and piping fitted. (in the same way as Lotus Elans) to beat the 25% purchase tax. With the advent of VAT, component kits were dropped. In May 1972 the Crusader was successfully crash tested at M.I.R.A.

Production ceased in late 1973 due to the company's financial difficulties, even though sales were still good. Several finished and part-finished cars were sold after the company's closure".

So then, it's a rarity! this one is a 1971 model, the 15th (finished in the third week after production started!) completed in the 350 produced. So there you go, very rare, even here in the U.K.

Jamie.

I think they're fantastic bits of kit. I'm not sure how many turn up at Auto events (such as Castle Combe, where my pics were taken) but i've certainly never seen one before then.

Jamie.

I saw something interesting today but it's not a car exactly. lol

However its design has been heavily influenced by what we term as Super Cars, and its the first of its kind in the world, costing 1 million GBP.

Interested? Let me know and I'll post her up.

Looks like a Falcon/Mustang or something.

Hard to tell. But it's an Mitsubishi Evolution V.
evov0kd.jpg
Not that i don't believe you, but with those horrible altezza's on the back it looks nothing like an EVO, more like a GSR Lancer (i think thats the one i'm thinking about). Mainly because there a a few of them going around here with ugly altezzas and EVO parts (spoilers etc). :yuck:

Anywho, the pictures of cars i spotted as promised - yes, some are from a car show but normally i wouldn't see half of these cars otherwise.

1984 Chevrolet Corvette (behind me obviously). Disclaimer: If you think i was taking photos while driving then you think wrong. The camera took them itself without me knowing. :dopey:
carspot1.jpg

Oooh, shiny bonne.... Uh, the Corvette passing me (slowly at that :() - HE is on the wrong side of the road :P
carspot2.jpg

The other 1984 Corvette which passed me in the small town of Lawrence (where i used to go to school in the late 80's/early 90's).
carspot3.jpg

Mustang GT and Dodge Challenger? (look at the awesome grey car above the roof of the Dodge - best car there ;)).
carspot4a.jpg

Again (they're my second favourite Mustang shapes ever - only ever seen about five or six of them though!).
carspot4b.jpg

Those Corvettes which passed me (this photo was taken earlier in the day).
carspot5a.jpg

Red one looks nice with its low spoiler.
carspot5b.jpg

Porsche Speedster! Came past me going the other way ealier in the day and i was wondering what it was, so was glad to see it at this show.
carspot6a.jpg

So seriously tiny.
carspot6b.jpg

1969 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet.
carspot7a.jpg

carspot7b.jpg

Camaro and some red car. ;)
carspot8.jpg

'59 Ford Mercury?
carspot9.jpg

Yummy FPV F6 Typhoon, BAII model. Have pictures of it drag racing last year, somewhere. They're the stock (optional) wheels too.
carspot10a.jpg

So in love with this car (seen about five Typhoons so far i think).
carspot10b.jpg

The way more common FPV GT. Great colour (usually are yellow, black, purple, blue etc with stripes, first one this colour i've seen).
carspot11a.jpg

Pretty sure they don't come with four exhaust tips, and that black thing on the window is the first one of those i've seen on any Falcon for years/models. It actually looks really good.
carspot11b.jpg

1999 Ford Mustang GT. Yum.
carspot12a.jpg

The black bit along the back looks really nice and inspired me to do the same thing to the Saleen Mustang in Forza Motorsport.
carspot12b.jpg

Ford Mustang Mach 1 (not Rouch like i earlier stated). One of the best looking cars i've ever seen.
carspot13a.jpg

*drool*
carspot13b.jpg

GOMIGODLOL!!! Never thought i'd see a BRAND NEW Mustang GT! *faints*
carspot14a.jpg

Was surprised at how basic/clean the rear brake lights are - big curvey things inside with just a single bulb. :D
carspot14b.jpg

A second one!!
carspot15a.jpg

I'm guessing they parked them like this so people could compare - i love both! :D
carspot15b.jpg

Ford Falcon GT351 (or something - caught my eye and i'm liking it more everytime i look at the pics).
carspot16a.jpg

Man that looks nice.
carspot16b.jpg

Okay, gotta say it. American's are crazy. I couldn't believe the size of this Ford F350, absolutely dwarfed everything else there. :nervous:
carspot17a.jpg

Photos do it absolutely no justice at all, it is way bigger. :scared:
carspot17b.jpg

1970 Plymouth Road Runner/Superbird. Think it is the first one i've seen, but may have seen one (or this) a few years back also?
carspot18a.jpg

I like. RX-2/RX-3 was idling along as i was taking this, wob wob.
carspot18b.jpg

Not sure if it is a real Shelby Cobra or not, but looks awesome and is a unique colour. :)
carspot19.jpg

Dodge Charger R/T.
carspot20.jpg

Ford Falcon XR6 and Porsche Boxster S (997). First 997 Boxster S i've seen. New Falcons like this are commoner than muck, which isn't a bad thing to a fan of them. :)
carspot21a.jpg

carspot21b.jpg

All these pictures (well, most) will be linked to in a new topic when Photobucket stops crashing Internet Explorer so i can upload the 70 pictures of the show in 1024x768 size.

That looks like a BF FPV to me. (Heh nice numberplate)

Your muscle "show and shine" type shows look just like ours. :)

Hey Doug, any clue on how rare SVT Focus's are these days?

Saw one tonight along with a Solstice which are becoming pretty popular for Plano.

It's a RX3 sedan beside the Roadrunner Andrew, speaking of which, I saw a nice condition RX3 coupe the other day. It was at like 11:30 at night though so no photos...

Trucks this size account for about one percent of all private F-series sales; most of them look like this:

07FordF150_05_1_.jpg

The F-350 is rare from the beginning, but most F-350s look like this:

04.ford.f350.500.jpg

The Dually model (two rear wheels at each well) is quite rare.

*McLaren*
Hey Doug, any clue on how rare SVT Focus's are these days?

Not rare - the 5-door and 3-door models combined made five figure sales without question. I saw a silver 5-door tonight, in fact. They're definitely unusual, though, and no one's questioning that they're cool.
