By the way, I guess I have to keep you guys coming back until Saturday - here's something that probably rivals Harry's LM002 for rarity:

Yep - it's a landau top on a '97-'99 Toyota Camry. It's not even a nice Camry - it's either a mid-level LE or a base CE. One of the more stupid things I've ever seen...

That was a factory option? On a 97-99 Camry? :odd:

GM stopped production of that roof somewhere in the early 90's...it seems odd to me that Toyota was still offering that.

Fortunately Atlanta will be good to me - they're predicting 50 and sunny for Saturday! Harry you'd get a kick out of this - the first five minutes of the news tonight were devoted to the possibility that there might be ice on the roads tomorrow. They went through a whole thing about how you'll need to use extra caution and how they'll post school closures as soon as they get them. School closures due to ice. These people should come up to where you or I live!

Up until yesterday, the Northeast was experiencing an extended mild Autumn. For weeks, the lowest we saw was 35F at 3AM. Until yesterday. Now we've snapped into a proper winter: 28F peak, slushy snow today. Not great weather, but at least it's season-appropriate. Closed for a little ice is silly, but I guess it's all relative. I can only imagine what Alberta would think of Denver snowstorms. ;)

It's a horrible photo from a horrible angle. It's not even your picture, so it probably doesn't even belong here.

But it's one of the best sightings of this thread, and I couldn't be happier that you posted it. I'm in awe - it's one of the cars on my list of "cars I love to see but never will." Right up there with the Miura, Porsche 996 GT1, and McLaren F1. Any idea who owns it?

Top notch. 👍

Ordinarily I wouldn't post someone else's image here, but he's not planning on joining the forum (for whatever reason), and it was such a rarity. Despite working in the same area, he hardly gets to see much anyway. I have no idea who owns the LM002, but he lives in the area (NY plates). My friend only had a brief chat with him, primarily about the car. If I find him again, this place will be the first to know.

Ever since I saw that '06 Mercury landau-top, I've been searching for any silly landau top. I'm trying to find real old-school, factory-option landau's (60's & 70's). Uh, actually, were the Mercury or Toyota factory designs, or aftermarket?

GT4_Rule

No - it's aftermarket. There haven't been any landau tops in a long time. I could research what the last car with one was (I think it was the 91-97 Mercury Cougar) but either way it hasn't happened in a while.

Hummer? Where?

I definitely hope it happens. It's not the most valuable car around, but it's definitely among the rarest, and it's one of the craziest. I love that thing.

Here's my contribution, saw it idling at the lights in the city the other day, must admit, I never thought I'd see one down here in Melbourne! It was near Melbourne Uni for those of you who live here! I crapped my pants when I saw it and pulled my mates camera out of his pocket and hes like, oh is that a good car? and im like :scared: are you serious??? newayz, enjoy! Peace.

Sweet!

When was it taken?

And, yes, I know a camera can be set to the wrong date.

First post in this thread, with a photo of the best sighting ever. Bit convenient.

 Camry's are a common everyday car here. Although i haven't seen that many soft top's.

Damn. You guys there are crazy 👍 👍 :)

It's not a soft top - it's a pretend soft top known as 'landaus' in the States and 'vinyl roofs' most other places.

Quite why you'd want to try to fool people into thinking you own an ugly looking convertable 4 door Camry i don't know?

Pfft! that picture has nothing on my photo, i was walking down the street with my digital camera turned on facing down the road like usual and can you imagine the excitement that came over me when i saw this.....

I couldn't believe my eyes, just look at it, an unmodified, really clean Mk2 Vauxhall Astra, i think its a GTE too. I was dead chuffed

Spec....

You fools, have you not seen that blatantly obvious exotic?!?!

- that green Nissan Serena is an ultra rare 1998 only model with the turbocharged SR20DET engine. One of only 6 known UK supplied cars! - this one even seems to have the 'all-weather pack' too!!

Great spot Ben 👍 👍

Why have I never seen this incredible photo before?!?!?! Did you really take it??

Well duh - why do you think I photographed it? It's the most popular car in the country, but that modification is quite a bit on the rare side. By the way I recant - I think the last car made with a landau top is the 92-02 Cadillac Eldorado, I'd bet. But it wasn't landau roof optional throughout its whole last generation, just the first part of it.

I remember seeing my first and only McLaren F1 on the street 4 years ago... it was in Great Neck, Queens, NY... silver and the door were up... no camera :(

i never knew mclaren made them in blue, sure this isnt a spray job?
more to the point is that even a real F1?
it seems the wing mirrors have been re-positioned and the small slits beneath the main front intakes either side of the number plate are non-existent :odd:

I know a few McLarens were built with side mirrors in that position, but not that big. Color is an option, and any color can be painted onto your McLaren.

Still checking on other things.
Ok, the blue machine is chassis #040 owned by 'flemke' of the PistonHead Forum fame.
The Australian one is chassis #009 owned by Barry Fitzgerald.

Credit to AF forums.

Very nice sightings with the McLarens. That would be something to see in my area, though I very much doubt there is a McLaren in Oklahoma.

There is a McLaren registered in Texas though, and sighted in and near the Fort Worth, Dallas, and Austin metroplex. I believe it stays down south, but it gives hope there is one.

I wish I had a camera Doug, because I saw a Diablo :D It was a dark-ish blue and heading the opposite way I was going, so a picture would have been hard to get anyway. If I ever see it around town again, I will definately try to get a picture of it.

With each new owner, the vehicles are fully customized (by McLaren). Seeing them in odd colors and with odd modifications isn't out of the norm at this point. I think this sucks, but it's the way it is with these things.

There's one in Texas, and there are a couple in Colorado. You never know what you might see...

I bet it looked badass. :D

*McLaren*
When does it never? ;)
Um, well...

(though I would personally drive it, as I very much like it)
and:

(which I would not drive)
Also, Cimarron FTW!

This was the only car picture taken on last Friday. It was right outside the rehearsal dinner; and even better, it parked right next to our truck (seen in backround). My mom's camera phone sucks, however.

Most definately. :D It's got such a low stance, and it's a lot smaller than I thought it was. I couldn't really think of another car to compare it to. What are cars that are similar to the dimensions of a Diablo?
