It's a way different color!!

I wouldn't even classify it as orange - it looks copper to me.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the color is when the 350Z was first launched and they used a very similar color on the concept car.

Last week I saw a black Gallardo but didn't bother posting as I don't have a camera. Today I had my camera with me for awhile and I was blessed with another.

Note the black E46 BMW M3 in the background of the last pic.

Great shots - I have yet to see an SE, and I've seen the rarer Nera. I'd love to get that photo myself! Good thing the Gallardo is RHD - I heard a crazy thing today that no LHD cars are registerable in Australia - which excludes the Enzo! Ouch. :(

My bad, I meant a yellow 355 spyder. I don't know my early-mid 90's Ferrari's too well.

I feel that - used to have the same problem. Good spot by the way.

Awesome. And you also live in Aus.? However do you people see such great cars?

Yep Adelaide, I often see great cars but usually quite busy and don't have a camera with me, I thought it would easier to spot good cars in Melbourne (didn't the Mclaren F1 get spotted in Melbourne?)

LHD can be registerable for vehicles 30 years and older, which doesn't help for modern cars.

For cars like Enzo you can recieve temporary permits from time to time to drive them but I personally wouldn't like to be restricted like that.

Orange is a horrible, horrible color and anything related to the shorthorns makes its that much worse.
Spoken like a diehard bitter Sooner fan with Crimson blinders on. ;)

BTW: Nice win against Boise State and 18pt spread over Texas... oops, my bad. ;)

At least Oklahoma can thank Texas for handing them over the invite to the Big 12 Championship and a BCS bowl game. :)

Despite the loss however, the Fiesta Bowl was one of the most fun Bowl games to watch this year, and I really thought Oklahoma was going to pull out the win... as did my wallet :grumpy:

OK... getting way off topic and way too many smilies... sorry, please return to your regularly scheduled car sightings. :)

How rare would that Porsche Speedster be in my previous (picture filled) post? It is the first one i've ever seen, and don't even think i've seen a picture of it before. :s

That's right, a diehard Sooner fan here, though not a bitter or blinded one. It just so happened that everything happened that could happen to help Boise State win that game. Had it not been such a great game, my trip out there from Norman would have been an absolute waste. With the way we played, we should not have even been in the game. Having said that, hats off to Boise State and their coaches doing a wonderful job of putting a gameplan together. Is that 18 point spread in football for this last year? Well had OU remembered to play the same way in the 2nd half as they did in the first, the outcome would have been a little different . . . :grumpy:. But I guess that is okay because the shorthorns returned us the favor later on in the year.

And now to get back on topic. Very nice sighting on the Gallardo SE. I have seen a couple Gallardos, though I very much suspect that each of my two, maybe three, sightings have been of the same car even though they were in different places. What are the differences between a normal Gallardo and the SE?

And according to Wikipedia, there were 76,303 Porsche 356s made, though it does not specifically say how many Speedsters there were.

From the outside, different wheels and a black top. It also has 20 more horsepower, for a total of 520, and the interior is two-tone in black and the color of the vehicle. They're making around 300 SEs, according to Lamborghini, though I bet it'll turn out to be quite a bit more.

Very cool sightings! The Mosler is a very cool sighting. That is not something you see every day, even at a dealership. At least it looks like it could be a dealership, though I am most probably wrong about that. Was the second Ferrari picture, a 550 or a 575? I cannot really tell from the picture, as the only difference I have ever noticed between the two is the headlights and the lack lower foglights on the 575. And what color was that M3 CSL in the last picture? Is it a purple?

Yep it is a dealership (BMW). The M3 CSL is dark silver metallic.

Looks like some crap weather you've got there kikie!
Yeah, very bad weather, typical Belgian weather.

It's a 550.

What other differences, other than the ones I already mentioned, are different between the 550 and 575?

I see the color now. I think it may have been the monitor I was viewing the picture on or I just was not looking that closely.

Hey Doug, quick question.

Did the 2000 Cobra Rs come in any colors other than red?

I just looked up the 2000 Cobra R on multiple website, the only information I could find on the color was from Car and Driver and they stated that the only color for all 300 of the Cobra Rs was Performance Red.

Hey Doug, quick question.

Did the 2000 Cobra Rs come in any colors other than red?

The (around 100) '93 models were only red, the 250 '95 models were only white, and the 300 '00 models were only red - Performance Red, as Ford called it. I still have yet to see an '00 Cobra R, though used prices are dipping pretty low. Did you catch one?

What other differences, other than the ones I already mentioned, are different between the 550 and 575?

The main difference is the front lip:

575-012007-b.jpg

550-012007.jpg

The top one is a 575, and the bottom one is a 550. On the 550, the lip looks a bit busy, and much more rounded than the 575 - they really cleaned it up on the 575 to make it look a bit smoother.

Another way to tell is, as you mention, the headlights - the 575 got projector beams, versus the two headlights in the 550. That's somewhat evident in that photograph. Lastly, the 575's hood scoop is noticeably larger and slightly wider than the 550's. Finally, the 575 has never adopted the 550's wheels, preferring instead to use more aggressive designs - either the one shown above, or this one:

575m-051706.jpg

Those are standard on the Superamerica, as well - which was 575 only. The 550 Barchetta used similar wheels, but it'd be hard to confuse those cars.

I knew the front end differences for the most part. The projector headlights are the first thing to really stand out as a difference. Guess I never really took real notice of the differences in the wheel design between the two.

Indeed - but wheels can be interchanged, so it's always good to check the front lip. 550 owners say their car is "smiling" compared to the 575.

I've seen several 575s (never personally, but in photos) with aftermarket badges indicating the model:

bt00030_30751.JPG

Well it seems I have seen all of the differences between the two models in pictures, including the badging. Outside of the badging, if there is any present, the only for certain way to tell the difference between the two is the front end, especially since the wheels may or may not be the same between the two models.

Ahem.

Murano, too?!

Okay, I can agree with the FX, but it's not the best color for it. The Murano, IMO, looks queer from all angles, and in all colors.

:ouch: D'oh! The 350Z -- it looks perfect in that color, too. Oh, well. Maybe metallic orange isn't all that hard to pull off.

ferrari 599, 1 hour ago... first i've seen, and sooooooo boring. No road presence whatsoever... Come on Ferrari, make something that looks sexy, please!

Really? I've seen it in showrooms, and I think it looks great. Maybe it needs the right color, maybe it needs daylight, but I think it's got presence in spades.

Nice. Just, nice. 👍

Trio: Understand you couldn't stay, aha; Wonder where you are today, aha

Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 convertible

Okay, it's a $5,000 car, but I have never seen this thing before. I had no idea the Cavalier was even available as a convertible. If it's actually common, I'll re-edit this post and take it down. If not, well, um, there it is in all its...glory.

Isuzu VehiCROSS

Why didn't this sell more? Oh, wait, I know: poor off-road ability, minimal cargo area, sluggish performance, and the visibility of a Sherman tank. It's best gig was showing up in Mission to Mars...as a convertible that never made production.

Maybach (57s?)

Snuck up on me; I thought it was the new S-Class. Good thing it was at a stop sign. I dropped the camera as I fumbled trying to get it out of my jacket. Nice recovery, I think. :sly:

Kikie that M3 CSL is just hot, its automotive porn. Screw the Ferrari's and that Merc--give me the CSL. And you live in Belgium right...and saw...a Dodge pickup truck? Wow, THAT has to be rare over there. I see 20+ of those ugly stupid things a day at least. Want to trade countries?

No picture (cell phone acting up) but there is a black w/white striped GT500 on our showroom floor. Oh and I need to take a pic of the maroni...the price was *cough* "adjusted for market value" $59k and some change. $60k? Guess that's cheap considering in 10 years it will probably be worth...$60k. :sly:

I think the more you see, the more you get to like it - I agree that the CL and the NSX look perfect in it, but I think Infiniti and Nissan have pulled that color off too, and I think many cars would look good in it if there were more of them.

They're rare - but if you want to see something slightly rarer:

sunfire.jpg

I noticed that particular Sunfire convertible on Christmas day. I took that picture on January 14. It hadn't moved in those three weeks. For all I know it's still sitting there.

I see one of these things (Cavalier) each month, and a Sunfire vert maybe every five weeks. The thing about those cars that made them hilarious is that Chevrolet tried them in every single Cavalier generation and it never once sold well in any generation. FINALLY someone came up with the bright idea of just... cancelling it. I believe 2002 was their last model year. If you want a recent convertible on the cheap, that's the one to get.

Standard Maybach Type 57 - not a 57S - those are badged specially on the sides and rear with a very tacky badge that says "57S" like so:

57s-102806.jpg

That's the side badge but the rear one looks the same. I'm loving the fact that the thing has medical doctor plates. By the way - snuck up on you? Hilariously accurate characterization of the Maybach's styling. Poor damn car. Four people know what it is: me, you, valets, and owners. That's the entire extent.

EDIT: great sightings by the way. Well except for the VehiCross. Hideous.

I know what a Maybach is...

Well then it's just us five. :D

The 62's are so damn big. And Dougs right, though I found out from the wheels, not the badging.

True - though I can't make that claim as I've seen three different 57S's on nine separate occaisions and I have yet to see one with stock wheels.

No, but I saw a yellow one today that did a great job replicating one except for the wheels, and exhaust pipes coming out the rear.

My last sighting was years ago. Too rare for Texas apparently.
