Just seen on the Codies forum that the new DLC content won't be integrated in the career.

So we are stuck with the same 6 rallies in career forever? Wow such a low blow...if I knew this I wouldn't have bought the deluxe version at all. Starting to regret this purchase.

Terrible. This has devaluated the DLC, the main game was in desperate need for more stages & locations, what a stupid decision.

Exactly this, it is very poor that DLC is not incorporated into the main game, I like Dirt 2.0 and I respect Codies as a developer but there are too many fundamental oversights in Dirt 2.0 to be ignored. For example this DLC issues, re-used assets from Dirt Rally, poor optimisation of the game across the platforms and Racenet hamstringing the game's operation.

Codemasters may not be PD or Turn 10 but with studios like Slightly Mad, Red Lynx, Kunos etc turning out just more cohesive games (albeit not always technically great from day one) it is not acceptable for a developer of Codies racing game pedigree to have such glaring oversights in this 2nd game in the series, hell Dirt 4 and OnRush were far more polished. Dirt may have been more budget because they needed to test if there was an audience, there was so the 2nd iteration needed to have bigger leaps forward imo

Needless to say I won't be buying the DLC and this is why I never do before launch.

But, rant over, it's not a terrible game but could have been a lot better and user-friendly.

That tweet, to me, sorta implies that DLC stages won't be integrated into career right away, but maybe down the road? Surly Codemasters will hear the upset fans?... right? Hopefully.

Either way, it's not the end of the world for me if the DLC is only playable in time trial or free play. Shame, but it is what it is. I don't play career often as is.

I’ve got about 6-8 hours in this game.

Likes:
  • Stage degradation
  • New stages (obviously)
  • Car selection, even if most are from previous games
  • The (few) new cars
  • Co-driver along with the dynamic intensity based on speed
  • Tire options, but haven’t used anything else but Mediums and Wet yet
  • Sounds
  • Custom event creator
  • Physics

Dislikes:
  • Removal of dash cam
  • Some cockpits don’t adjust position to where I want it
  • Preponderance of night and rain in ‘My Team’ mode
  • PS4 Pro graphics not to same level as its peers
  • DLC not integrated in career mode, but not surprised here
  • Still can’t turn headlights on until stage starts
  • Manual wipers always set to intermittent every stage regardless of conditions

Indifferent:

  • Online connection required for career mode
  • FFB, though this almost made the dislike list
  • RallyCross inclusion
  • No Hillclimb
  • No-frills team personnel development
  • No sponsor/team management
  • No livery editor; almost a dislike since the default liveries are straight from DR1

So far everything is what I expected except the required online connection and the heavy default FFB. It’s basically DR1 but new and improved depending on your opinion (naturally).

EDIT

Forgot to add I like the new addition of how repairs need made if damage is incurred during shakedown and also between Rally events.

Test driving is good too

Dlc will be included in the career championships. They retweeted a correction very shortly after the original tweet. It will not be in any championship you are currently in, but any that get started after the dlc release will include those tracks.

I think that is for the custom championship and not the My Team. I am happy to be proven wrong though.

I'm happy to make you happy. :)

"Hey Mike, we stand corrected! If you're playing through a Career Championship, a new location won't magically appear. However, if you're starting a new Championship, your new location/s (if you have them) may appear as part of new championships."

Thank goodness. I had just about learnt of that regarding no career inclusion and wasn't believing at all. Or maybe they had just tried. Good to know It won't be that regardless, as we could have it no other way. I mean it's been enough with having to purchase 3 vanilla rallies again, no room for them for more Dirt-y play.

It's confusing to me that on PS4 the default ffb is very heavy, while on pc it is light using the very same wheel.

Hit this game hard yesterday, about 6 hours.

Finally getting the hang of the controls after lightening up the FFB. Decreased the tire and wheel friction to 60 and the self aligning torque to 75.

Finished my first crack at Clubman difficulty using the Kadette but didn’t make the cut to advance. Now starting it again with the Alpine. Argentina was first up and though it’s difficult, I can actually finish higher here than Australia or New Zealand surprisingly.

I want to mention how far the tarmac physics have come for Codies. I think it’s the best of this generation. It has believable grip and not super skiddy and full of overly light oversteer like D4 and especially DR1.

Tried soft compound tires in Spain and is the grip wonderful. Even soft tires at Argentina was a pleasant surprise. I don’t know much about how different compounds provide more or less grip IRL on gravel/dirt, so it could simply be a boondoggle but I like it the option. Next time I’ll try soft tires on some longer events and see how the durability cracks up, but haven’t tried or found a reason yet to hard compound. Maybe hards are intended for back to back stages over 10km. And better pay attention to the surface condition in Spain and choose tires wisely because worn dry tires in the wet can find you sideways very easily.

I may attribute the initial slog and grind I experienced to track degradation especially when starting 150th with the Fulvia in the wet. Puddle filled ruts are in fact difficult and unpleasant to drive through after all.

CM games also have the best throttle response compared to its peers. You’ve always been able to feather and provide just enough power when you need it. Definite like.

Even though I’ve driven most if not all of the cars in D4 and DR1, I appreciate the option to test drive cars before purchasing.

I really do wish the graphics on PS4 Pro were just a little better. Maybe it’s intentional, but textures especially at night in the wet are downright muddy and blurry and rainfall effects at night are not the best they can do. I still think D4 had the best graphics of this gen. Crisp and clear.

Though the stage layouts will become repetitive after a while, and though I could have waited for a price reduction with all of the DLC included, I’m going to get my money worth out of this title.

After a couple of days mandatory off line (thanks to my dearest wife who decided to book a romantic hotel) I'm glad to be back in my rig.

Continuing the historic career in a Datsun 240z. Challenging car behavior. Something completely different then my Datsun Cherry which I drove when I was young and ....well just forget and focus on now...

Lol, I wish you were on PC. It's getting pile-drived on the Steam forums. I've never seen so much bias-confirmation slamming in my life.

Great news, i Will start the rally career in may. I will complete rx part and some historic stuff in the meantime. Thinking of waiting maybe till october to have all the rallies back Is a pain in the..

I just read a few posts over there and it’s interesting to read someone say the tarmac physics are terrible in DR2 and then say the physics in DR1 and 2 are nearly identical. Whether you prefer one over the other, with the cars I’ve used so far there’s more grip in 2.0 especially on tarmac. Not sure what he’s playing.

No game is perfect but I’m enjoying this. Incidentally it’s getting killed by users on Metacritic too, but what else is new over there. Nothing but 0’s and 10’s for most AAA games..

Yep, amazing how many trolls came out to jump on the band wagon. Even with needing a few tweeks to FFB and lighting, it has been brilliant. Well worth the money. The thing that gets me is people whinging about aspects, that they have been told by others that need improvement, without even owning or using it. Pissing in people's pockets and telling them it's raining, as we'd say in Oz.

Ok thank god, I was freaking out for a second! So maybe the Season Pass is worth it...
